Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Demi Moore is currently in Paris with her kids Tallulah and Scout where they’ve enjoyed the sights of Paris including a private tour of the Louvre.

Demi looks to have other commitments in Paris as she looked stunning wearing a Prabal Gurung Fall 2009 asymmetrical dress with a feathered ombre skirt to launch her fragrance “Wanted”.

The star uploaded this picture onto her Twitpic to which many of her followers gushed at how beautiful she looked and I totally agree.

Demi has worn a piece from the young designers first Fall 2009 collection before, when she attended Cartier’s 100th Anniversary party last month.

On her twitter page she said her dress was by a “Wonderful young designer to look out for Prabal Gurung!”

If that is not a ringing endorsement I don’t know what is.

What a magnificent way to start the week, with an amazing burst of colour.

Michelle Obama wore a Michael Kors magenta wool crepe gown, with an exquisite necklace, which had a magenta matching floral piece.

This is the second time within a week, Mrs. Obama has worn Michael Kors. The black gown she wore to the TIME 100 Gala last Tuesday in New York, was also by the American designer.

Kerry Washington arrived wearing a navy blue pleated J.Mendel Fall 2009 strapless gown, with stunning gold accessories.

The gown had a tiered peplum at the waist, and a mermaid hem.

I don’t think this is the most flattering dress for Kerry – especially from the long shot – but she still makes it work.

This taupe one-shouldered Versace Pre-Fall 2009 gown is simply gorgeous, as it skims the well toned body of Demi Moore.

Her look was complete with a matching Roger Vivier clutch, with sparkles with the embellished details on her gown.

Katie Holmes opted an ivory ensemble, including a blazer, satin top, and full-length skirt, from her co-designed Holmes-Yang collection.

Her event appropriate look was accented with gold Boucheron accessories.

Eva Longoria wore a frothy gown, with tiny spaghetti straps in this seasons hottest colour -nude.

The Ports 1961 gown is outstanding, but it feels like it’s completely swamping Eva’s tiny frame.

Mariska Hargitay wore an off-the-shoulder Carolina Herrera Spring 2009 black, white and grey lace chiffon gown, covered in floral appliqués.

Her sweeping updo, gave this gown the final touch of elegance, to complete this perfect look.

Alicia Keys wore a black and white Narciso Rodriguez Spring 2009 cocktail dress, with the signature black criss cross detail on the bodice.

Alicia lets the dress speak for itself, by only adding a black clutch to complete her look.

Amber Tamblyn would have been the center of attraction, wearing a vivid red Carolina Herrera Spring 2009 gown.

I love the way the ruffles cascade down the gown, plus the ruby drop earrings, but she lets herself down with her hair.

Natalie Portman wore a very interesting black Balenciaga Fall 2004 halter-neck gown.

The halter part is attached to the rest of the dress with 2 very thin straps.

Keisha Whitaker arrived with her husband Forest Whitaker, also wearing a vivid red gown, from the Badgley Mischka Pre-Fall 2009 collection.

Rashida Jones wore a LBD with flutter sleeves, and a ruffled detail going across the skirt.

She completes her look with a silver jewels, and Manolo Blahnik Pepe sandals.

Say what you want about Donatella Versace, for me she’s always impeccable.

This outstanding paillette covered nude self designed halter gown, is case in point. Already a contender for Best Dressed Of The Week.

Elizabeth Banks opted for a very subtle, understated look, wearing a teal one-shouldered Alberta Ferretti gown, accented with a silver bejeweled belt, which matched her leaf earrings and box clutch.

Tyra Banks’ look was too office chic for me. In a room full of luscious gowns, I expected much more from her.

I will say that her hair is a huge improvement from the Met Gala last week.

Glenn Close was so graceful wearing a white Giorgio Armani Spring 2005 gown, covered with black Asian text.

Wanda Sykes was one of the guest speakers of the night. She arrived in a navy blue silk suit, and her trademark hairstyle.

She had the guests rolling on the floor with laughter with her risky jokes. You can watch the video’s here.

I wasn’t a fan of the Calvin Klein dress Eva Mendes wore the Parson Fashion Benefit on Wednesday night, but Eva totally redeems herself in this gold metallic Azzaro Fall 2009 long-sleeved backless dress.

What really makes this look, are her complimentary accessories. The stand-out piece was her Giuseppe Zanotti Special Edition crystal strap sandals, which Heidi Klum wore earlier this week in black.

Kate Hudson continues to astound me when it comes to her red carpet choices. Whenever she hits the red carpet, she commands your attention.

She has ‘it’…that indescribable thing her mother possesses, which totally wows you.

She was breathless last night in a floor-length black Rachel Roy Fall 2009 gown with cutaway panels, showing us how much she has been working out.

Like all the other attendees she is wearing Cartier jewels, but I’m totally in love with her dazzling necklace.

You may remember Zoe Saldana was the first to wear Prabal Gurung on the red carpet, and introduce us to this talented designer.

His collection continues to make an impact with Rachel Weisz looking luscious wearing a cream strapless Prabal Gurung Fall 2009 dress, with a pleated black striped draping detail from her black patent belt.

I would have preferred strappy sandals to her Alexander Wang pumps, but I don’t want to focus on what I don’t like too much, because Rachel looks so gorgeous.

Speaking of gorgeous Demi Moore also wore a Prabal Gurung Fall 2009 dress, giving Prabal the unofficial title of ‘Designer of the Night‘.

Demi’s wore an asymmetrical black dress, with cream stripes, showing off her magnificent legs, putting tight wearing Anne Hathaway to shame.

She has been walking the red carpet for years, not all of them were good, but in recent years she has been consistently fabulous, and on trend.

I love the candy coloured paillettes on the shoulder of Tory Burch’s pink polka dotted Lanvin Resort 2009 dress.

Yet another fabulous consistent look from Tory.

Erin Fetherston walked the red carpet wearing a her own glittering bell-bottom pants from her Spring 2009 collection.

I have updated this post, as I was unfortunately wrong in iding Anne Hathaway’s dress as Louis Vuitton. It was actually Jill Stuart.

Anne shows us how incredibly long her legs are in custom Jill Stuart navy dress, with a delicate lace overlay.

I would have never have put Anne in this dress, but for what it’s worth, she makes it work.

Not crazy about her hairstyle though.

I love the pants, this is a bold look, but I prefer how they were presented on the runway.

It’s brown, it’s bland, it’s boring, it’s shapeless, it’s sappy, so it must be Jessica Biel.

Some will say that she has Justin Timberlake on her arm she doesn’t need to try hard. I would whole-heartedly disagree. Note to Jessica, MUST TRY HARDER.

Demi Moore arrived at the Trump International Hotel and Tower Dubai Launch in New York last June, wearing a cobalt blue Zac Posen Trickle halter dress with a large ruffle cascading down the skirt.

Demi carried a black clutch, whilst mixed her metals by wearing silver Ivanka Trump jewels, with gold peep-toe heels.

Actress Bijou Phillips wore the same dress in chartreuse, when she attended the New York Times Fashion Week Photo Diary by Eric Ray Davidson in LA last month.

I love the dress in both colours, but Bijou’s pewter accessories were consistent, so she wins this for me.

Net-A-Porter have the cobalt blue dress on their US site for $1,800, or the international site for £1,126/€1,498.30.

MORE FROM RED CARPET FASHION AWARDS:

Posted by Catherine Kallon on April 24th, 2009 In: Bijou Phillips, Demi Moore, Who Wore It Better?, Zac Posen

“Two Lovers” Screening, New York

I continue to be baffled by Taylor Momsen. She is such a pretty girl, but she hides behind that think eye make-up and blunt bangs.

The dress is quite short, but she is old enough to get away with it.

Her all black look is contrasted with a pair of neon pink Alexander McQueen Heart peep-toe pumps.

“Crips And Bloods: Made In America”, LA

Jessica Alba wore a gorgeous blue asymmetrical stamped cloqué silk Lanvin dress with hook – eye waist gathering.

I am loving the look, but the tights and Dior kills don’t quite work with this dress.

“Happy Tears” Press Conference, Berlin Film Festival

Demi Moore wore a navy and white polka dot Michael Kors Spring 2009 dress with red heels.

This is a non fussy clean look, which suits her perfectly.

“Happy Tears” Premiere, Berlin Film Festival

She then upped the glamour for the premiere, wearing a silver Escada Pre-Fall 2009 cocktail dress column dress, which had beautiful Indian hand embroidered detail with Sergio Rossi heels.

Forever Enthralled, Berlin Film Festival

Zhang Ziyi dazzled in a Gothic-esqe Zac Posen Fall 2008 gown, with a poufy skirt.

She was iced-out with stunning jewels, but she kept warm with a cropped black jacket.

Unveiling of Southwest Airlines’ SI One Airplane

Bar Refaeli looked hot wearing a Balenciaga leather and tweed biker jacket with black skinny jeans and pleated Christian Louboutin booties.

“Notorious” Premiere, Berlin Film Festival

Angela Bassett could quite easily pass off as Kerry Washington’s mother, or older sister.

Like Kerry, Angela oozes a graceful elegance on the red carpet.

She wore a stunning silver asymmetrical gown, with a pleated bodice an a jeweled brooch on the waist.

Cheri Premiere, Berlin Film Festival

With her sexy tousled and black RM by Roland Mouret dress, Michelle Pfeiffer looked simply stunning.

I loved the dress asymmetric neckline and the jeweled brooch.

An effortlessly glamour look for the legendary actress.
