Social Events Of The Week

“Mad Men” – Season 3 Premiere

January Jones was one of the first celebs to wear Andrew GN on the red carpet during awards season earlier this year, and she has stayed loyal to the designer wearing his silk navy blue Fall 2009 dress to this red carpet event.

I love that she belted the dress to give it more shape, whilst her simple black patent Brian Atwood ‘Maniacs’ pumps, and wavy blonde locks complete this sophisticated look.

You may recognise the dress to be similar to the dress Kerry Washington wore on the Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien back in June with the diamond shapes cut into the neckline which are trimmed with leather.

Christina Hendricks looked radiant as she opted for another dress by Catherine Malandrino.

This time she wore a black asymmetrical long sleeve Malandrino Fall 2009 dress with bird embroidery detail on the bodice.  This was daring choice, but she totally made it work by keeping accessories to a minimum.

“Live! with Regis and Kelly”, New York

Leslie Mann always makes an impact on the red carpet.

When she arrived for her appearance on “Live With Regis And Kelly'” in New York, she is wearing a black diamond organza sleeveless blouse, a chiffon flutter skirt and a patent leather bow belt from the Erin Fetherston Fall 2009 collection.

This is such a cute girlie look.

Bagatelle Party, Paris

Oh to be Dita von Teese.

The star is wearing one of the day dresses from Elie Saab’s Fall 2009 collection in dove grey, which she also owns in black.

Lace peep-toes and a collection of white bangles completes her look, whilst her hair and make-up are as you would expect.

“Spread” Los Angeles Premiere

Demi Moore arrived with eye-candy Ashton Kutcher wearing a Louis Vuitton lavender dress with a draped bodice and cut-out details on the side.

She completed her look with multi-coloured Giuseppe Zanotti heels and a black clutch.

My request to Rumer Willis remains the same. Please dye your hair back to black.

The young actress wore a silver metallic strapless Karen Millen dress and Christian Louboutin heels.

Anne Heche looked very sexy wearing a black satin ruched Dolce & Gabbana cocktail dress with brocade and jeweled sleeves.

This is the best she has looked this year.

2009 ESPY Awards Red Carpet

Best Dressed Award
I wasn’t really expecting much from this event to be honest.

That all changed when I saw Venus Williams.  She really wowed me wearing a Mara Hoffman Spring 2009 print silk-chiffon maxi dress, with plunging neckline and tie to the waist.  She accessorized with a silver necklace and a matching ring.

Her hair was swept to one-side to add more elegance to her look.

She looks ace wouldn’t you agree?

Most Consistent Award
I only see Driver Danica Patrick on the red carpet once a year at this event and she always impresses.

Last year she wore a cute Nanette Lepore mini dress, this year she opted for a sexy yet sweetly feminine, Stella McCartney Fall 2009 dress.

The dress has been modified from the runway to be shorter plus her dress has nude panels with a lace overlay.

I love that she kept the rest of her look classic with simple jewelery, complementary two-tone black peep-toe heels and her hair styled into a beautiful updo.

Nice Dress, But I Prefer The Runway Version Award
Demi Moore looks great in her custom-made Zac Posen Resort 2010 cold-shoulder dress, but I LOVED the runway version so part of me feel a bit disappointed even though Mrs Kutcher looks super hot.

Black satin Bally platform peep-toe pumps and gold bracelets completed her look.

Most Improved Award
Serena Williams always goes for an ultra glamorous look which usually fails to work.

On this occasion her teal blue Roberto Cavalli gown is perfect.

The colour is gorgeous and the fit is flattering. For once I don’t notice her muscle, but I do notice her twins.

How does she run around a court for 2 hours? It’s gotta hurt.

De Ja Vu Award
Jaime Pressly wore a very similar Joey Tierney Couture LBD, and styled her hair in almost the same way when she attended the “I Love You, Man” LA premiere.

When she looks this drop dead gorgeous why not recreate the magic I guess.

Her skin is positively glowing.  She’s very much the yummy mummy.

Nice dress, shame about the hair Award
Miranda Kerr wore a fabulous white Calvin Klein haltered gown which looks stunning on her, but the hair doesn’t quite work for me.

I like that she tried something new as her style is usually the same, but I don’t think it suits her.

Worst Make-Up Award
WNBA player Lisa Leslie didn’t look in the mirror before she left the house. I refuse to believe anyone would knowingly leave their home looking this bad and not be aware.

YIKES!!!!

Most Zzzzzz Award
Out of all the Victoria Secret models who walk the red carpet Marisa Miller has to be the most boring, predictable and uninspiring.

Like Amanda Bynes it’s always the same formula.  Tight, short, black or white, Herve Leger or Dolce & Gabbana.

On this occasion she’s wearing a white strapless short Dolce & Gabbana dress, with a jeweled belt from the Spring 2009 collection.

Social Events Of The Week

Malaria No More Charity Party, LA

Dazzling Demi Moore wore a white crochet Andrew GN Spring 2009 summer dress, which she accessorized with the runway cuff and silver strappy heels.

The actress kept her hair slicked back in a bun, and the only other accessory she need was her sexy hubby.

“Live with Regis and Kelly”, New York

Emma Watson was spotted exiting the “Live with Regis and Kelly” studio earlier this week wearing a Jason Wu Resort 2010 ensemble.

The ensemble included a jersey chiffon-edged tank and a nude twist-pleat pencil skirt.

Her look was complete with two-tone ‘Bruno Frisoni for Jason Wu’ grey heels.

The shoes are from the first collaboration between the two designers, and were shown during Jason Wu’s Resort 2010 presentation.

I love that cute black headband which completes her look.

Out & About, New York

Hayden Panettiere causes a stir outside her hotel in New York as she made her way to “Live with Regis and Kelly”, wearing a stunning pale blue Zac Posen dress which had an intricate pearl and gem embellished waistband.

She paired her gorgeous dress with tumbling waves and Christian Louboutin heels.

Jaguar XJ Launch Party, London

Elle Macpherson is known as ‘The Body’ which she shows off wearing a super-short, sequined one-shoulder Herve Leger Camille beaded dress with blush pink Christian Louboutin peep-toe platforms.

“500 Days Of Summer” New York Screening

Hilary Rhoda also wore a look from the Jason Wu Resort 2010 collection.

Her look consisted of a grey tee, with a solid colour coral draped skirt with a black belt.

The model is glowing. I wonder if she just got back from vacation.

Leighton Meester works this colourful red and purple houndstooth Emilio de la Morena shift dress.

As her dress grabs all the attention, Leighton wisely keeps accessories to a minimum and make-up neutral.

Her look is complete with Alexandre Birman python peep-toe booties.

It’s a nice dress but for some reason I just don’t like it on Leighton.

“I Love You Beth Cooper” New York Screening

Here is another fab look for Hayden Panettiere. This time she wore an ivory Andy & Deb dress which she accessorized with a Nancy Gonzalez clutch, Giuseppe Zanotti Design pewter pumps plus Slane & Slane small bee omega earrings and ring.

It’s been a hectic week for Hayden but she’s never looked flustered, just very well dressed without putting a foot wrong.

Three-O Vodka Bubble Launch Event, New York

Khloe Kardashian totally ruins this black and white Alice + Olivia fan dress.

The dress comes with a belt which holds all the detail together without it, the dress is sadly a hot mess.

Case and point.

Runway To Fragrance Launch – Demi Moore In Prabal Gurung

Demi Moore is currently in Paris with her kids Tallulah and Scout where they’ve enjoyed the sights of Paris including a private tour of the Louvre.

Demi looks to have other commitments in Paris as she looked stunning wearing a Prabal Gurung Fall 2009 asymmetrical dress with a feathered ombre skirt to launch her fragrance “Wanted”.

The star uploaded this picture onto her Twitpic to which many of her followers gushed at how beautiful she looked and I totally agree.

Demi has worn a piece from the young designers first Fall 2009 collection before, when she attended Cartier’s 100th Anniversary party last month.

On her twitter page she said her dress was by a “Wonderful young designer to look out for Prabal Gurung!”

If that is not a ringing endorsement I don’t know what is.

White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner

What a magnificent way to start the week, with an amazing burst of colour.

Michelle Obama wore a Michael Kors magenta wool crepe gown, with an exquisite necklace, which had a magenta matching floral piece.

This is the second time within a week, Mrs. Obama has worn Michael Kors. The black gown she wore to the TIME 100 Gala last Tuesday in New York, was also by the American designer.

Kerry Washington arrived wearing a navy blue pleated J.Mendel Fall 2009 strapless gown, with stunning gold accessories.

The gown had a tiered peplum at the waist, and a mermaid hem.

I don’t think this is the most flattering dress for Kerry – especially from the long shot – but she still makes it work.

This taupe one-shouldered Versace Pre-Fall 2009 gown is simply gorgeous, as it skims the well toned body of Demi Moore.

Her look was complete with a matching Roger Vivier clutch, with sparkles with the embellished details on her gown.

Katie Holmes opted an ivory ensemble, including a blazer, satin top, and full-length skirt, from her co-designed Holmes-Yang collection.

Her event appropriate look was accented with gold Boucheron accessories.

Eva Longoria wore a frothy gown, with tiny spaghetti straps in this seasons hottest colour -nude.

The Ports 1961 gown is outstanding, but it feels like it’s completely swamping Eva’s tiny frame.

Mariska Hargitay wore an off-the-shoulder Carolina Herrera Spring 2009 black, white and grey lace chiffon gown, covered in floral appliqués.

Her sweeping updo, gave this gown the final touch of elegance, to complete this perfect look.

Alicia Keys wore a black and white Narciso Rodriguez Spring 2009 cocktail dress, with the signature black criss cross detail on the bodice.

Alicia lets the dress speak for itself, by only adding a black clutch to complete her look.

Amber Tamblyn would have been the center of attraction, wearing a vivid red Carolina Herrera Spring 2009 gown.

I love the way the ruffles cascade down the gown, plus the ruby drop earrings, but she lets herself down with her hair.

Natalie Portman wore a very interesting black Balenciaga Fall 2004 halter-neck gown.

The halter part is attached to the rest of the dress with 2 very thin straps.

Keisha Whitaker arrived with her husband Forest Whitaker, also wearing a vivid red gown, from the Badgley Mischka Pre-Fall 2009 collection.

Rashida Jones wore a LBD with flutter sleeves, and a ruffled detail going across the skirt.

She completes her look with a silver jewels, and Manolo Blahnik Pepe sandals.

Say what you want about Donatella Versace, for me she’s always impeccable.

This outstanding paillette covered nude self designed halter gown, is case in point. Already a contender for Best Dressed Of The Week.

Elizabeth Banks opted for a very subtle, understated look, wearing a teal one-shouldered Alberta Ferretti gown, accented with a silver bejeweled belt, which matched her leaf earrings and box clutch.

Tyra Banks’ look was too office chic for me. In a room full of luscious gowns, I expected much more from her.

I will say that her hair is a huge improvement from the Met Gala last week.

Glenn Close was so graceful wearing a white Giorgio Armani Spring 2005 gown, covered with black Asian text.

Wanda Sykes was one of the guest speakers of the night. She arrived in a navy blue silk suit, and her trademark hairstyle.

She had the guests rolling on the floor with laughter with her risky jokes. You can watch the video’s here.
