Get the Look: Emmy Rossum’s Bright Critic’s Choice Television Awards Makeup

Emmy Rossum Critics Choice MakeupEmmy Rossum dazzled on the red carpet at the 4th Annual Critic’s Choice Television Awards in more ways than one.

The fuchsia Monique Lhuillier gown was paired with a rich coral lip.

Take notes, because fun hues are replacing the classics in beauty. High intensity shades can be worn on any complexion and are an easy way to update your normal routine.

Emmy’s makeup artist for the evening, Jo Baker, says that experimenting with bold tones is something that every woman should try.

Her tips make it easy for anyone to take a shot at the trend and also recreate Emmy’s look.

First, lips were prepped using Chanel Hydra Beauty Nourishing Lip Care. Generously moisturizing before applying lipstick helps the product glide on evenly while also minimizing cracked skin.

There’s nothing worse than wearing a bold color that highlights dehydrated crevices.

After massing the balm in, Givenchy Le Rouge in 201 Rose Taffetas was applied in several layers. The multiple coats maximize the pigment’s saturation.

Take a closer look and you’ll notice that the color doesn’t stop there. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Cosmetic Colour Pencil in Pool Boy was smudged into Rossum’s lash line, creating an aquatic haze.

If you’re not quite ready to mix two extreme shades, Baker recommends pairing slightly off hues to subtly intensify saturation. For instance, try mixing red with orange. The two tones will appear soft yet striking at the same time.

Get The Look: Diane Kruger’s Flyaway Free Wavy Tresses

The Paley Center For Media's Premiere Screening Of FX's "The Bridge"Celebrity hair stylist Kylee Heath worked with Diane Kruger shaping her tresses for the PaleyFest screening of ‘The Bridge’ yesterday evening.

Fresh and full of soft texture was Kylee’s inspiration.

Here’s how she created the look.

She started by spraying the (clean) roots with Leonor Greyl’s Spray Structure Naturelle and then spraying the roots through ends with Original Mineral Atonic Thickening Spray.

After combing the products through, she then blew Diane’s hair out using an Ibiza boar-bristle round brush.

Leonor Greyl Voluforme was sprayed throughout the roots before Kylee added texture by wrapping sections around a 1 1/4 inch iron. Kylee wrapped the front sections away from the face. As she worked her way around Diane’s head she alternated, wrapping some forwards and some backwards.

Once the texture was in and cooled, she massaged the roots of the hair, breaking up the waves, and finished by spraying the hair with Oscar Blandi Lacca Hairspray.

Flyaways were smoothed out with Kevin Murphy Easy Rider.

Get The Look: Rose Byrne’s Women in Film Crystal + Lucy Awards Intense Smoky Eye

Rose Byrne 2Celebrity makeup artist Georgie Eisdell worked on Rose Byrne’s makeup for the 2014 Women in Film Crystal + Lucy Awards.

Inspired by her silver lamé Max Mara strapless jumpsuit, Georgie said, “Rose had a modern ’70?s vibe going on, so I wanted to keep her makeup really clean, cool and chic.”

Here’s how to get her look.

The focus was all on her eyes. Georgie started by using Laura Mercier Matte Eye Shadow in Buttercream all over her eyelids for a flawless base.

Then she mixed Laura Mercier Matte Eye Shadow in Twilight Grey with NARS Eye Shadow in Namibia to get the perfect medium shade of grey.

This colour was applied over her lid, blending into the crease slightly to create a smoky effect. The colour was also applied under her eyes to create a deeper smoky effect, graduating from stronger to lighter toward the inner corner under the eye.

Three layers of CoverGirl LashBlast Volume Mascara in Black concluded things in the eye area.

Rose’s skin was evened out using L’Oreal True Match Foundation and powdered all over with Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Powder.

A very small amount of Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Color in Honey Mocha was applied to the apple of the cheek and blended back slightly towards the ear.

To define her brows, Laura Mercier Brow duo in Ash was used.

And on her lips, Hourglass Femme Nude Lip Color in Nude #4 gave her a natural pout.

Finally, Tom Ford’s Bronzing Powder in Terra was very lightly applied to the forehead, cheekbones, and chin to add a little warmth.

Get The Look: Gabrielle Union’s ‘Think Like A Man Too’ LA Premiere Makeup

Gabrielle Union MakeupCelebrity makeup artist Fiona Stiles worked with Gabrielle Union to create her beauty look for the ‘Think Like A Man Too’ LA premiere.

Fiona talks about the inspiration behind the beauty look: “As we were getting ready, Gabrielle, her hairstylist and I talked about the look and the dress. When her hairstylist said he was going to do a tight bun with a deep side part, clean and sleek, and then I saw the two-piece Dolce & Gabbana dress, I knew I wanted to do a red lip and soft eye on Gabrielle. Bronzy skin, a structured brow and flirty lashes looked unfussy while still feeling incredibly elegant.”

Fiona used bronzer on the eyes instead of shadow, to create depth, and skipped liner, making the eye feel not too made up. She wanted to keep the eye all about the lashes, and the look about beautiful skin and a statement lip.

She used false lashes on the top and bottom to open up her eyes, while also giving Gabrielle a stronger brow to balance out the strong lip.

Just a little bronzer on the cheeks gave definition without looking ‘blushy’.

Even though there is a strong lip, the look was all about radiant skin.

Jaime King’s Spike TV’s ‘Guys Choice Awards’ Smouldering Eye Makeup

Spike TV's "Guys Choice" Awards - ArrivalsCelebrity makeup artist Georgie Eisdell created Jaime King’s smouldering look for her Spike TV’s ‘Guys Choice Awards’ Emilio Pucci frock.

Georgie wanted Jaime’s look to be sexy and strong, yet simple and clean – so her focus was all on her eyes.

Eyes: To create such an intense smokey eye, Georgie first used Bobbi Brown Gel Liner in Black Ink along the lash line and in the inner rim. She then went over the liner with NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow in Sycorax, pulling the shadow up into the crease of her eye and blending out slightly. She brought the shadow under the eye as well to create the smokiness. Then applied a couple layers of YSL Faux Cils Mascara to finish off the eye.

Skin: Jaime’s skin was evened out with Tom Ford Traceless Foundation and then powdered slightly with La Mer Translucent Powder.

Blush: NARS Blush in Final Cut was applied along the cheek bone to add a little bit of colour, but also to contour the cheek bone slightly.

Brows: Jaime’s brows were defined with MAC Brow Duo in Blonde very slightly, just enhancing her natural brow.

Lips: Georgie loves the natural colour of Jaime’s lips, she used Lucas Papaw Ointment for moisture and leaving her natural lip colour to shine.
