Red Carpet Fashion Awards

"Charles James: Beyond Fashion" Costume Institute Gala - ArrivalsMarion Cotillard stunned on the red carpet on Monday’s Costume Institute Gala at the Met.

While her beautifully intricate navy Christian Dior dress wowed both onlookers and attendees, it was her classic and elegant makeup that truly made the full look exceptional. Seeking inspiration from bombshells of the past, celebrity makeup artist, Christophe Danchaud created a look that was both timeless and ultra-luxurious.

“The dress makes a graphic statement and we complemented it with glowing skin, iridescent eyes and richly pigmented lips,” says makeup artist Christophe Danchaud.

Here is how you can recreate this beautiful look:

Face (complexion): To begin, Christophe prepped Marion’s skin Hourglass No. 28 Primer Serum. He followed with Hourglass Veil Fluid Makeup in 1.5 and Hourglass Corrective Concealer in Pearl. To finish the skin and give it a glowing from within look, Christophe applied Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light all over the face. The dusting of this powder along the skin created a flattering soft-focus effect.

Cheeks: Keeping in line with the skin’s luxurious glow, he applied Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Radiant Magenta. The golden fuchsia tone of the blush gave the cheek a perfect touch of color and radiance.

Eyes: Using Hourglass Visionaire Eye Shadow in Exhibition, he began applying the shimmering lilac shade to the entire eye lid area. He then proceeded to blend the dark mauve shade in the duo palette close to her lash line. To lighten and brighten the look, Christophe used a gold pigment on the lids as well. Moving to the lashes, he applied several generous coats of Hourglass Film Noir Full Spectrum Mascara.

Brows: To frame Marion’s face, Christophe defined her brows with Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil in Dark Brunette.

Lips: To achieve that richly pigmented lip color, Christophe began by lining lips with Hourglass Panoramic Long Wear Lip Liner in Raven (Summer Launch) and followed with a mixture of Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Crème Lipstick in Raven and Muse, all of which created a sensual orange red shade.

Get The Look Kate Upton’s 'The Other Woman' Premiere Polished Updo

Celeb hairstylist Peter Butler created a sleek and polished updo for Kate Upton’s Dolce & Gabbana frock worn to the LA premiere for her newest movie, ‘The Other Woman’.

Starting with damp hair, Peter applied the Leonor Greyl’s Mousse au Lotus Volumatrice all over–a dollop on the top of her head, another split between the sides, and a dollop on the back of the head. He distributed the product throughout the hair and concentrated on the roots. For volume, he used a paddle brush and began to blow-dry her hair.

As he dried her hair, he sprayed the Leonor Greyl’s Spray Structure Naturelle among the different sections for more fullness at the root. The product combined with the blow-drying created more of a lift.

Before he began curling her tresses, he used the Eclat Naturel sparingly for more of a textured and “wet” look. He curled her hair in small sections with a large-barrel curling wand.

To form the updo, he raked Kate’s hair back with his fingers and pulled it into a ponytail. He secured this with an elastic band with hooks to “keep the ponytail in place so the hair doesn’t slide and get loose afterwards”.

Peter then wrapped the ponytail around the base and used a few hairpins to keep it budge-proof.

As a finishing touch, he spritzed the Leonor Greyl’s Lacque Souple to keep the shape throughout the night’s festivities.

Selita Ebanks joined Emma Roberts on the red carpet for the New Yorkers For Children’s 11th Anniversary ‘A Fool’s Fete’ Spring Dance held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel on Monday (April 21) in New York City.

The model was smouldering hot, wearing an Alon Livne Fall 2014 gown featuring a beaded silver bodice with intricate embroidered detailing contrasted with a flattering black skirt featuring a thigh-high slit.

Working the best version of the partless hairdo trend, the low-maintenance style was the perfect way to allow the dress to shine.

This spectacular, unique piece was styled with black Louboutin ‘So Kate’ pumps, a silver ring by Lauren X Khoo and a bracelet by Jacob & Co.

2014 MTV Movie Awards - ArrivalsJessica Alba looked like the epitome of spring with her big, bouncy curls and crop top ensemble. The mastermind behind her luxurious locks? Celebrity hair stylist Davey Newkirk.

Davey started by spritzing the John Frieda Luxurious Volume Fine to Full Blow-Out Spray all throughout Jessica’s damp hair.

Using a large round brush, he blew out her hair while giving her tons of volume and shine.

After her hair was dry, he worked in 2-inch sections and used a large 1 ½ curling iron to give her big, voluminous waves.

To allow the curl to set, he secured each section with a duckbill clip. When her hair was cool, he removed the clips and brushed through the waves with a flat brush.

Using a dollop of John Frieda Frizz Ease Secret Weapon Touch-Up Crème, he worked this through her hair for shine and smoothness.

He gave her a deep side part and, to keep her strands in place, added a bit of John Frieda Frizz Ease Clearly Defined Gel and locked everything in with the John Frieda Luxurious Volume All-Day Hold Hairspray.

Hair Trend Spotting MTV Movie Awards Flipped Waves2

The 2014 MTV Movie Awards were filled with Red Carpet surprises, but some of the most talked about looks had more in common than expected.

Nicki Minaj, Jessica Alba, Rita Ora and Kate Upton were amongst the many who flipped their waves to one side. Creating svelte curls may seem difficult, but this trick will help you to easily score the look at home.

Nicki Minaj’s do was smooth at the roots, but a voluminous mane adds drama to the trend. Before drying hair, Jessica Alba’s stylist applied John Frieda Luxurious Volume Fine to Full Blow- Out. The trick to creating the Old Hollywood curl is to begin with your hair parted down the middle. Divide locks into 1-inch sections curling each piece outward and away from your face.

Save the strands on the top left for last and curl them inward, towards your head. Finally, create a barely there part similar to Rita Ora’s, by flipping the hair on the right over with your fingers to the left. The motion reverses the curl pattern creating soft waves that frame the side of your face.

If you prefer your curls to fall in the opposite direction simply reverse the steps. To polish strands Kate Upton’s stylist smoothed on Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine.
