Lena Dunham In Theyskens’ Theory – 2013 Actors Fund Gala

Lena Dunham In Theyskens’ Theory - 2013 Actors Fund Gala

Lena Dunham was one of the speakers at the 2013 Actors Fund Gala held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel on Monday in New York City.

We haven’t been the biggest champions of her style, but on this occasion I have to say she is much improved from her last look – but let’s face it, a bin liner would’ve been an improvement on the last look.

Wearing a custom-made Theyskens’ Theory sleeveless dress embroidered with a graphic houndstooth motif with glass beads and a sheer panel, the style is much more flattering and infinitely more stylish than her other looks – even from this obscure angle.

Could she have turned a style corner? We will have to wait and see.

Speaking ill of her style is like shooting on the Red Cross (we use to say this in my country for a lot of situations).

She should call Tadashi Shoji to help her out.

+1 !! So true! This is so unflattering and the sheer panels are the worst done! She needs someone like Tadashi Shoji!!

She looks as big as a barn. I dont think thats an improvement.

I like the concept but she looks enormous here. The shoes are fab though.

I like the shoes and the haircut.

  6. adrian May 1, 2013 at 20:36 #

    much improved

Maybe she just doesn’t like wearing figure-hugging clothes. I know I prefer a loose silhouette. I think people are very harsh on Lena.

In my opinion she looks great. Her hair and makeup are perfect – so pretty. And the dress and shoe combo really works.

My god, this is tragic, especially cause she has such nice legs and could flatter her figure a lot more. Gaaahhh!!

She’s never really dressed well but this has been a particular downward spiral. I don’t know how anyone could put this on and think they looked good. She’s either completely clueless and believing what she’s being told or she genuinely just doesn’t care/thinks she’s above it all. Either way it’s just a mess, I actually feel embarrassed for her at times.

I am amazed that Lena always looks so awful, mainly because she wears things that are not figure flattering. It’s weird that her stylist doesn’t know her body and keeps putting her in these horrid looks. She needs to hire whoever dresses Queen Latifah or Octavia Spencer.

Still not working for me. Sad.

hair and makeup is stunning but the dress looks like a burlap sack.

NOT an improvement–it’s just as bad. When she wore the Reed Krakoff dress, and several Zac Posens, she has shown that she CAN look passable (and could look really good with an improved shape). This makes her look literally twice her size. The sheer panel is tacky, the houndstooth is not a good pattern for this shape, and over all it’s just another heinous mess. I don’t like what she’s doing with her hair either–Anne Hathaway and Michelle Williams have done more interesting things with their short cuts.

Is she pregnant? Because there’s no excuse for this otherwise.

Or is it that she does not want to look good ever? I’m confused.

  15. Colleen May 1, 2013 at 15:36 #

Where to begin? Fire your stylist, if you even have one, because they don’t like you.

This is way too big on her – and might have worked if it weren’t for that. I don’t get the overly feminine vibe from her, but those are the looks that her stylist always seems to put her in. I just don’t get it.

  16. abasss May 1, 2013 at 15:19 #

It makes her look huge, she’s much smaller than that. Lena got a lot better with her hair and make up, but she still doesn’t know how to dress her body.

  17. asherlev1 May 1, 2013 at 15:09 #

    This. is not an improvement.

Looks like her stylist genuinely hates her. I mean.

  18. dressaddict May 1, 2013 at 14:52 #

That’s awful. Worse than the last one, which was a disaster. Who’s her stylist?

  19. Fiona May 1, 2013 at 14:50 #

    I like her haircut.

    • kane May 1, 2013 at 15:41 #

Me too. Better maybe, still not good though unfortunately.

  20. dee May 1, 2013 at 13:52 #

I like her shoes but that’s it. The dress is so unflattering on her.

    • mm May 1, 2013 at 15:37 #

I so agree, that dress is yuck

    • Jess2 May 3, 2013 at 11:14 #

I agree also! The dress is bad!

  21. Alicat May 1, 2013 at 13:45 #

This is a slight improvement but still hugely unflattering. It is like a shapeless smock and as with the the last look, makes her look huge around the hips and tummy. The way she is holding her hands across her tummy makes her look pregnant. The sooner she gets some professional style advice the better.

    • Christine May 1, 2013 at 15:21 #

Seriously, this look is no better. I agree.

  22. Yeliz May 1, 2013 at 13:33 #

Still unflattering IMO. And it makes her look huge.

    • Camellia May 1, 2013 at 13:54 #

Agree. She looks three times bigger than she actually is and the sheer panel is terrible.
