Kate Bosworth attended the 2012 CFDA Fashion Awards, held at the Alice Tully Hall in New York City on Monday evening, as the plus one for Joseph Altuzarra, who took home the Swarovski Award for Emerging Talent in Womenswear.
Showing off one of the designer’s most memorable Fall 2012 looks, Kate wore the heavily-embellished Alzarra ‘Laal’ dress.
Very few could manage to pull off the brightly printed sarong-like garment with an exposed waist and jangling belly-dancer-esque medallion coins along the hips.
Of course, the always-fashionable actress just so happens to be one of these select individuals.
Gianvito Rossi for Altuzarra black velvet ankle-cuff pumps and a matching black clutch provide a simple backdrop for the intricate gown.

Not loving this look. Esp with black accessories (those shoes is horrible).
+1 terribly, jarringly horrible
the more i look at this dress the more i hate it.
the cut out, the silver belt embellish NO
those UGLY heels for such a bright dress they are such heavy shoes
on the side view- because she does not stand straight she looks knocked up.
make up flawless as usual but this was one of the worst looks for me.
I like the dress on her but what’s with the heavy, black accessories? It really brings down the look.
The dress is gorgeous but paired with the black shoes is making me dislike the look a bit more. Too heavy for this gorgeous look.
I hate it.
Ditto
I like the dress and she has a super skinny body to pull off the cutout, but the shoes are all wrong. They weigh the whole look down.
I love the dress & I adore her in it, but I don’t really like the accessories, although with so much going on in the dress, and with her honouring Altuzarra I understand why she chose to accessorise with pieces from his line.
NO! NO! NO! NO!
Designers should really stop thinking that they can get away with designing such…
LOL agree. The dress is a horrible mess–making my head spin with the hideous pattern and the tacky cut out, and THOSE SHOES. Oh GOSH, the SHOES!
+1 on everything
I really dislike this. Kate can do so much better.
The dress is great but the accessories bring it down a bit. Lucky for Kate the dress completely distracts me with all it’s details.
I like the dress, but I wish she had worn the top the way the model did–with some drape to minimize the cut out. This way, it looks out of proportion. And I agree the shoes are a downer.
None of the embellished details are actually visible in the picture. I hate the end of the skirt with the frill and the slit. If it was a straight cut, I might have liked it.
The dress is magical. The shoes kill it however; a gold strappy sandal would have been perfect.
I like this daring look, but I don’t like the black accessories paired with this dress. If the dress had any black details, I would have liked the shoes and the clutch, but now, they look way too heavy and out-of-place with this print.
She looks great as always but for the first time I don’t like the accessories, most of all the shoes.
It’s a weird dress, but Kate pulled it off beautifully. I like the look on her, including the footwear choice.
Am I the only one who absolutely ADORES this look (minus the shoes of course, I second to everyone that it totally weights the look down)?
LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!
