Earlier today, I put together my wish list for Cannes Film Festival.
On day one, at the opening ceremony and ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ premiere this evening, a 74-year-old beauty made my dream come true.
Jane Fonda donned the Atelier Versace Fall 2011 gown I have been dying to see on the red carpet since it was presented last year.
Her intricately woven bronze metal gown with a delicately pleated hem and train was slightly modified with the addition of an illusion yoke and sleeves, but takes nothing away from the beauty of the gown.
She completed her look with a metallic Versace clutch, Chopard jewels and peep-toe heels.
The fashion gods are really smiling on me. First Florence Welch in Alexander McQueen, now this.

My first thought when I saw the pictures on Getty was : “FC is going to be happy”.

I wouldn’t change anything about this gown, the modified version is also stunning and more suitable for someone in Jane Fonda’s age. Unfortunately I hate her hair.

Yes FC, the fashion gods are shining on you and all of us fashion lovers. How beautiful does Jane Fonda look in this. I saw the picture of her and thought for a minute she was wearing a necklace, but when I saw it was the illusion yoke, I agree that it takes nothing away from the look. Stunning! This might be my BDOTDay at Cannes and my BDOTW candiate!

OMFG!!!! I cannot believe I’m seeing this dress on Jane Fonda! When I saw your wish list I was pretty sure someone would pick up that Atelier Versace but I was looking for someone like Bar Refaeli or Stacy Keibler, NEVER thought I’d see it on someone like Jane Fonda. But I couldn’t be happier about it because she truly owns it. She looks incredibly flawless and divine. I love the addition of the yokes and sleeves as they turn a potentially cheap looking dress into a very sophisticated and age appropriate one. Need to say strong BDOTW material here?

I personally wouldn’t have added the yoke and sleeves, but they don’t kill the look.
The make up is a bit on the heavier side but again, it doesn’t bother me too much.

Thank goodness I am in the back of the conference room. Someone was droning on and on so I decided to take a mental break by coming to RCFA to catch up. I literally dropped my phone when I saw Jane Fonda — with a huge clatter. You should have seen me looking around wide-eyed as if it wasn’t me. She is my BDOTD (-Day), hands down.
Lesson learned — Cannes fashion coverage may be NSFW, lol.

A completely unexpected but completely incredible surprise! I love the coloru of the dress, adn I’m gad that it goes so beautifully with her colouring. I had a whole list of starlets I was imagining in this look, but she just blew them all out of the water.
Thsi gown will always beong to Sasha P on the cover of French Vogue a few months ago, but this is gives her serious competition!
