Robert Downey Jr. is one of the few men who make red-carpet dressing fun.
One of his favourite designers is Vivienne Westwood.
I loved the cornflower-blue Westwood suit he wore to the ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’ Rome photocall back in December last year, but I’m not too crazy about the white sneakers with the blue toe-caps.
During the promotional tour for ‘The Avengers’, he has worn a Vivienne Westwood suit twice so far.
For the Moscow premiere he looked very dapper in a grey plaid suit which he styled with a black-and-white check bow tie, a white dress shirt and Marc Jacobs beaded sneakers.
The actor appeared more serious on the red carpet for the London premiere, but his navy Vivienne Westwood suit was styled with a shirt with oversized cuffs and black sneakers.

This is awesome. Such a handsome and cool guy – and with great sense of fashion. Like the sneakers, makes the look playful (and youthful), but he could easily have paired the grey plaid suit with regular shoes. Also adore the edgy look with heavy boots to the dark suit!
I like the sneakers–the colored sunglasses? Not so much. He looks terrific otherwise. Obviously, he and Vivienne have a good thing going.

I think that he has great red carpet style. I always grimace a little when I hear that someone is doing Vivienne Westwood on the red carpet, because she has a limited range of styles, but in menswear I like it, the plaid in particular. However, asmuch as I love this style on him, I don’t think that everyone could pull it off.
I do hope that he does a Lanvin look, though, because his Oscars Lanvin look is one of the only men red carpet looks that is really distinguished in my mind.
Sneakers with suits makes me break out in hives. Working in NYC, whenever I see this I swear I have an allergic reaction. That being said — if he is going to break my pet peeve, at least he has fun with it.

This man can do no wrong. Absolutely perfect. He’s having fun and you can see it. He and Johnny Depp are my favourites when it comes to fashion… Not that they’re not my favourites when it comes to everything else, too

I really like RDJ so I’m used to his crazy style. But let’s be honest, it’s not good lol. But it’s soooo him that he gets a pass.
I love the suits, the shirts and the (bow) ties but I can’t get on board with the sneakers, the white and blue pair in particular. He would have looked so handsome with classic footwear.
I LOVE that he’s choosing sneakers, but he’s constantly choosing some REALLY ugly ones.

I love it — it’s time to mix it up. Men dress so boring (with notable exceptions, i.e. Ryan Gosling and. . . Henrik Lundqvist). Sorry to over-generalize, but, really.
LOVE him, so fun to see his quirky style…and I can’t wait for The Avengers AND Iron Man 3!!!

I must be the only person alive who can take or leave RDJ…he doesn’t really do it for me, in movies or otherwise. And I feel like he looks ridiculous in these photos, like he asked Justin Bieber to style him. Grown men in formalwear with sneakers is as try hard to me as Lea Michelle’s over-posing on the red carpet, or Taylor Momsen in general.
