Armani PriveĢ Spring 2012

Even with a celeb-filled front row, I was totally entranced by the Armani Prive Spring 2012 collection.
Each piece was timeless and elegant, but done in a futuristic, chic way.

Green was the colour du jour, with every shade in the green family on display, from lime to chartreuse to forest green. It is an unlikely colour to base a full collection on, but it worked as the green goddesses took to the runway in slinky bedazzling gowns, one-shoulder cocktail dresses, peak-shouldered jackets paired with sleek pants or swirled skirts and dresses with a black satin bodice and tea-length skirt.

The highlights were the models who took to the runway wearing extravagant ball gowns with jewel bodices and snakeskin-print skirts. I also loved the strapless gowns with Swarovski crystal net jackets slung over the modelsā€™ shoulders.

One model looked like an otherworldly sea creature that had risen from the sea with a green algae-like bolero. We all craned our necks to get a closer look at this spectacular piece.

The accessories were just as mind-blowing.

Aside from the sculpturesque shoes and the serpent accented clutches and bracelets, each model wore a Philip Treacy headdress that entwined like twisted branches, but the standout piece was the stiffened net hat, reminiscent of a wind-blown headscarf.

Front Row: Every major editor, Jessica Chastain, Cameron Diaz, Livia Giuggioli and Olivia Palermo.

Favourites: Strapless dress with jewelled bodice and net skirt with net peaked jacket and snake-print strapless gown with onyx bodice.

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Anne Hathaway, Cate Blanchett, Jodie Foster, Celine Dion, Penelope Cruz, Jessica Chastain and Cameron Diaz.
