2019 AFI Awards Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

2019 AFI Awards Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

We won’t forget the fellas who joined a host of ladies at the 2019 AFI Awards this afternoon (January 4) in California.

Bradley Cooper: Am I the only one who desperately wants to undo that button? This wool Isaia suit was the better of his two looks this past 24 hours – which he styled with velvet Christian Louboutin ‘Greggo Orlato’ shoes – but if he was going to button up, he should’ve lost the vest, because the as look as presented feels really bulky.

Mahershala Ali: Could Mahershala look any cooler? His Christian Louboutin ‘Alpha Male’ lace less dress shoe set this off right.

Stephan James: Do not adjust your screens. This is a rare moment of Stephan James wearing black. The ‘If Beale Street Could Talk’ actor was decked out in a three-piece Etro suit which mixed classic tailoring with a contemporary cut. I will give him a pass on going sans socks, as he was rocking a swaggy pair of Christian Louboutin ‘Dandelion’ patent and printed loafers. Chopard’s L.U.C Perpetual Twin timepiece completed his look.

2019 AFI Awards Red Carpet Roundup

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon Features 2019 AFI Awards Red Carpet Roundup

The 2019 AFI Awards was a packed house with several more ladies taking to the red carpet this afternoon (January 4), to receive their accolades.

Elsie Fisher: This young lady never fails to put a smile on my face. Yet to don a dress on the red carpet this calendar year, I’m wondering if that will change for the Globes on Sunday. Her signature trousered style was looking very bright in this M Missoni Resort 2019 outfit, which was of course styled with her other signature: a Kate Spade New York bag.

Emma Stone: While I was tempted to say, “thank you, next”, to this Louis Vuitton Spring 2019 look, when I paused to take a moment, this look isn’t actually so bad. What lets it down are the black slingbacks. I wish she’s opted for the ‘Overnight Cross’ sandals, but thankful she didn’t go for the LV Archlight boots.

Keri Russell: Dressed in Dior, I found myself a little underwhelmed by this offering. Usually I’m mesmerized by Keri on the red carpet, but I’m not getting any goosebumps today.

Danai Gurira In Gabriela Hearst – 2019 AFI Awards

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features Danai Gurira In Gabriela Hearst - 2019 AFI Awards

Two looks in the space of a few hours? It must be awards season.

Danai Guriras’s second look at the 2019 AFI Awards today (January 4) in California, hails from Gabriela Hearst’s Resort 2019 collection.

This off-the-shoulder dress gets a sleek, elevated update with striking fringed detailing across the body.

While I do like the shoes, I wish they weren’t so heavy. Red Jimmy Choo’s ‘Minny’ sandals would’ve work perfectly here.

Regina King In Valentino – 2019 AFI Awards

Regina King wore her second Valentino outfit (and third overall) in two days, for the 2019 AFI Awards today (January 4) in California.

I wasn’t at all mad about the autumnal hues of her Valentino Spring 2019 look – we are in the Fall season after-all – but I did find myself not loving the choice of boots.

Yes, tan boots wouldn’t have worked either. I’m thinking more along the lines of Malone Souliers ‘Mika’ sandals.

Emily Blunt In Altuzarra – 2019 AFI Awards

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features Emily Blunt In Altuzarra - 2019 AFI Awards

It’s been a busy day for Emily Blunt following the Variety’s Creative Impact Awards and 10 Directors to Watch Brunch.

So much so, that she didn’t have time to change out of her pink Brian Atwood sandals for the 2019 AFI Awards at Four Seasons Hotel today (January 4) in California.

However, they added a fresh touch to her forest-green Altuzarra Pre-Fall 2019 floral jacquard suit.

Black sandals wouldn’t have been frown upon, but I do love how unexpectedly harmonious this is.

Jewels from Graziela Gems, Dana Rebecca Designs and EFFY Jewelry completed her look.

Rachel Brosnahan In Cushnie – 2019 AFI Awards

Rachel Brosnahan joined Kiki Layne for the 2019 AFI Awards at Four Seasons Hotel today (January 4) in California.

The actress wore a jade-green Cushnie Spring 2019 jacket and trousers, which some might regards as fancy PJs.

Personally I love the jewels tone of this hue against Rachel’s skin, and the flash of magenta from her Malone Souliers ‘Tasha’ sandals which appears to take inspiration from the glamour of ’70s.

Kiki Layne In Adeam – 2019 AFI Awards

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features Kiki Layne In Adeam - 2019 AFI Awards

Kiki Layne attended the 2019 AFI Awards held at Four Seasons Hotel today (January 4) in California.

I had always worried that those PVC corsets from Adeam’s Spring 2019 collection wouldn’t translate that well on the red carpet, especially when Taylor Schilling gave it a hard pass back in November.

But Kiki showed just why she’s on our one-to-watch list.

This parachute dress might be a hard sell, but honestly, methinks the corset is perhaps saving this look.

Nicholas Kirkwood ‘Mira Pearls sandals completed her look.
