2019 Critics’ Choice Awards Menswear

2019 Critics’ Choice Awards Menswear

The 2019 Critics’ Choice Awards were on Sunday (January 13) in Santa Monica, California, and the men showed up just as much as the women when it comes to the statement looks of the evening. There was hardly a standard suit in the mix here.

Timothée Chalamet: Your Best Dressed of last week kept his style-forward streak going strong in this painterly Alexander McQueen Resort 2019 suit. As always, he pulls off the directional look — complete with white sneakers — so seamlessly and nonchalantly.

John Legend: The singer-actor recently turned 40, but he looks as good as ever — especially with the rich, textural effect of this Ermenegildo Zegna XXX suit, styled with Christian Louboutin ‘Thomas III’ shoes.

Stephan James: The contrast piping on this slightly shrunken, slim-line Thom Browne suit gave it a an eye-catching edge. A Montblanc timepiece and David Yurman ring completed the look.

Best Dressed Of The Week

Apologies for the site being down for a few hours. It had reached it limit. Probably as a result of awards season.

Here are the results of the Best Dressed poll.

I was very surprised that you selected Sarah Paulson in Prada and Timothée Chalamet in Louis Vuitton, as the majority of the comments weren’t favourable to either.

But I guess that means that the silent majority were successful in this case.

Mahershala Ali In Dzojchen – Premiere Of HBO’s ‘True Detective’ Season 3

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features Mahershala Ali In Dzojchen - Premiere Of HBO's 'True Detective' Season 3

Even with gorgeous ladies such as Angela Sarafyan and Carmen Ejogo and Jodi Balfour on the red carpet for HBO’s ‘True Detective’ Season 3 premiere on Thursday (January 10) in Los Angeles, California, Mahershala Ali was the star attraction.

Whoever dressed the actor in this Dzojchen suit should be giving themselves a congratulatory pat on the back.

You may remember it was Chadwick Boseman who brought this brand to our attention at the Seoul premiere for ‘Black Panther’, and the list of celeb fans has since grown to include Common, Ryan Gosling, Janelle Monae, Leonardo Nam, Donald Glover, Blake Lively, Patrick Schwarzenegger and Angela Bassett.

Menswear End Of The Week Red Carpet Roundup

Here is the final roundup for the fellas who have been showcasing a range of styles from LA, Melbourne to Paris this week.

Cole Sprouse: This double-breasted suit would’ve come off as pretty standard had it not been for the injection of blood-red via his turtleneck.

Troye Sivan: The peformer attended the NGV Gala 2018 in Melbourne wearing an ivory and black trimmed Valentino look especially designed for him by Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli. I love the reinterpreted blazer, which instantly feels modern with the cape detail. This is a shoe-in for BDOTW.

Stephan James: Kiki Layne may be getting all the plaudits for her style, but that should also be attributed to Stephan too. I mean, does they guy even own a black or navy suit? Once again he embraced colour, and print, in a way that was ensured that he would stand out for all the right reasons in Grayscale. David Yurman accessories completed his look.

2018 MTV EMAs

MTV EMAs 2018

Here’s a round up from the 2018 MTV EMAs held in Bilbao, Spain on Sunday (November 4).

Leigh-Anne Pinnock: This Fausto Puglisi look has all the designers signatures: short length, metal sun accents and gladiator skirt.

Jesy Nelson: I love the bubble-gum pink hue of this Forever Unique suit, but I just wish tailoring had been better.

Perrie Edwards:  Of all the girls I felt that Perrie’s striped bustier with Christopher Kane’s embellished trouser combo felt modern in comparison to her bandmates.

Jade Thirlwall:  The singer also wore Fausto Puglisi, which also featured a signature: the harlequin skirt. I’m sure Jade didn’t realise how sheer her top was before she hit the red carpet, but I’m sure she does now.

Angela Bassett In Dzojchen & Christian Siriano – CinemaCon 2018

Although many of you weren’t all that delighted by Angela Bassett’s last look earlier this week, I have no doubt that sentiment will promptly change upon seeing her at two CinemaCon2018 events on Wednesday (April 25).

Mission: Impossible–Fallout’ CinemaCon Presentation: This metallic, micro-dotted Dzojchen suit held such vivacity all by itself. Add in the allure of the corset underneath along with Le Silla heels and Alexis Bittar jewels, and the end result was nothing short of striking.

Will Rogers ‘Pioneer Of The Year’ Dinner: Her Christian Siriano Spring 2018 jumpsuit had me at hello with its magenta-pink hue that was ever-so-commanding on the actress. The flirtation of the ruffles on the sleeve were a bonus, offering a feminine movement to the chic, one-piece look.
