Tina Fey In Elie Saab – 2018 Emmy Awards

Tina Fey In Elie Saab - 2018 Emmy Awards

Tina Fey took a trip to the dark side for the 2018 Emmy Awards on Monday (September 17). She joined Michelle Dockery and Ellie Kemper.

I enjoyed the bewitching layers of the Elie Saab Fall 2018 look on the runway, but thought it a wise move to simplify the style for the red carpet.

I’m struggling with the finishing touches. Namely, the size the belt, lace trim and hair. The belt feels far too casual for the occasion and the proportion isn’t as successful as the original.

The comedienne has pulled off minimal black to great effect before. Here, I wish she did away with the darker mood altogether and opted for a simple style in a vivid colour.

Tina Fey In Thom Browne – 2018 Tony Awards

The Tony Awards is all about the razzle dazzle, and Tina Fey most definitely did the latter in her Thom Browne custom gown on Sunday night (June 10).

The designer is known for reinventing classics with unique proportions, silhouettes and preppy detailing, but on this occasion his sequin silver fair isle embroidered tromp l’oeil gown with ostrich feathers and beaded fridge showed that he can just as easily do classic evening glamour.

Some might have expected some quirks or signature details, but I love how he created this stunning look with the event and client in mind.

Tina Fey In Escada – 2018 Drama Desk Awards

Tina Fey made a head-turning arrival on the red carpet for the 2018 Drama Desk Awards on Sunday (June 3) in New York City.

I adore this modern spin on this classic suit which hails from Escada Resort 2019 collection.

Imagined in a large-scale check with a structural fit, she opted not to test the waters with anything bold that would clash. Instead she carried a Mark Cross ‘Sara’ bag in a chambray-blue hue.

This feels like such a bold choice for Tina. I’m glad it paid off for her.

Variety’s Power Of Women: New York

Variety’s Power Of Women: New York event on Friday (April 13) had many influential women in attendance.

Padma Lakshmi: A beauty in red, the ‘Top Chef’ host put on a coordinated display from head to toe. Everything in her look was perfectly cohesive from the three-piece slim Styland suit to the sandals to her red lipstick. No statement jewellery was necessary as the fiery hue had such impact.

Alicia Keys: The singer experimented with silhouettes by teaming a Calvin Klein Spring 2018 dress with cropped pants and heeled mules. Had the trousers been full length, they would have had more of an elongating effect. I’m sure there will be others who will take issue with the statement tie belt.

Viola Davis: The actress wowed in pink at the 2018 Oscars, and she took the shade for a spin once again in a Pamella Roland dress. The pewter accessories and Toni & Chloe Goutal necklace bring a cool modernity to the feminine style.

Tina Fey In Gabriela Hearst – ‘Mean Girls’ Broadway Opening Night

Tina Fey attended the opening night of ‘Mean Girls’ on Broadway at August Wilson Theatre on Sunday (April 8) in New York City.

Her custom Gabriela Hearst white blazer dress; sharply tailored with a mini-length silhouette that’s sliced with a plunging V-neck and is finished with contouring seams that honour the waist, felt like unfamiliar territory for Tina.

I think this has a lot to do with both the shorter length and colour, as Tina often sticks to muted tones.

As a result this look feels fresh despite the pumps being a tad uninspired.

Tina Fey In Carmen Marc Valvo – 2017 Emmy Awards

It will likely come as no surprise that Tina Fey opted for her favoured colour of black at the 2017 Emmy Awards on Sunday (September 17) in LA.

But, this Carmen Marc Valvo design was no ordinary black gown. It featured all-over tonal sequins in a graphic tessellated pattern, imbuing the figure-skimming dress with modern magnetism.

Cartier jewels added another layer of shine.

Did you like Tina’s look, or are you ready to see her step outside the black box?
