Catherine Laga’aia Wore Teresa Helbig To The ‘Moana’ Special Event
Catherine Laga’aia attended Disney’s Moana Special Event in Sydney on Thursday, marking the beginning of her first major press tour.

Usually, when we cover a Moana event, the focus is on Auli’i Cravalho, who voiced the title character in the animated films. The distinction this time is that Catherine takes on the role in Disney’s 2026 live-action remake. Auli’i chose not to reprise the role in live action, explaining that she wanted a younger actress of Pacific Island heritage to step into Moana’s shoes.
At just 19 years old, Catherine now leads the film’s global promotional tour alongside co-star Dwayne Johnson, making this a significant introduction to the international stage.
As you know, I love a Disney dress for a Disney moment, and this Teresa Helbig design from the label’s Wet Ballet Couture Collection couldn’t have been a more fitting choice. The soft ivory palette, delicate botanical motif and airy silhouette echo the tropical beauty at the heart of Moana, while the flowing skirt captures the sense of movement and freedom that defines the character’s journey. It feels youthful, romantic and entirely appropriate for a Disney heroine making her debut.
Catherine completed the look with kate spade new york Golden Bloom floral statement earrings, adding a floral flourish that complemented the dress without competing with its intricate pattern.

I will look forward to seeing more from Catherine when her press tour continues on Monday in London.
