Ryan Destiny Wore Donna Karan To ‘The Drama’ LA Premiere

There was another archival pull on the red carpet at The Drama LA premiere, and you won’t be surprised to learn that it was one of Law Roach’s other clients, Ryan Destiny.

Considering the heavy look he put her in at the Oscars, he owed her one, and that was delivered in this stunning Donna Karan Fall 2001 draped gold dress.

This is classic Donna Karan from that era. The fluid draping, the way the liquid-like satin contrasts with the crushed velvet panel, and the asymmetrical one-shoulder construction all speak to her mastery of dressing the body rather than overpowering it. There is an ease to it, but also a sensuality that feels innate to her work from the early 2000s. Seeing it reappear on a red carpet in 2026 is a reminder that these pieces don’t date, they just wait for the right person to bring them back to life.

And Ryan was exactly that person. She wore it with confidence, letting the fabric do the work, styled simply with subtle gold jewellery.

Naturally, this piece comes with history. It was first worn by Demi Moore to the 2001 Met Gala, and similarly, she opted to keep the styling simple, though she did carry a clutch. You may have noticed that clutches are no longer as prevalent on the red carpet as they once were.

I kinda wish this saved for the Oscars? Because this would have easily been one of the standout looks of the night.
