The press tours are coming thick and fast, with Anya Taylor-Joy stepping out today in New York City, where she was promoting her upcoming film, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.

The actress attended the Universal Pictures, Nintendo, and Illumination presentation of a special Princess Peach mural, the animated character she voices in the film.

The actress gave us our first look at Antonin Tron’s Balmain, straight from his debut Fall 2026 collection.

Naturally, my eyes fell straight on the animal-print embroidered skirt, crafted from micro-materials to create a soft, fur-like effect. A melted leopard dégradé motif shifts in scale and texture, culminating in delicate fringe at the hem.

This feels like a clear signal of where Balmain is heading under Tron. There is a noticeable shift away from the overtly embellished, high-octane, sharp-silhouette aesthetic we have come to associate with the house, replaced by something more tactile and wearable. The focus here is less about immediate impact and overt drama.

For Anya, this works because it aligns with her affinity for statement pieces, but in a way that feels more refined. The sleek black backless halter top anchors the look, allowing the skirt to take focus.
