It was a busy Tuesday for Taraji P. Henson, who was out and about promoting Tyler Perry’s new film Straw in New York City—serving up not one, but two looks.

This Ferreri Fall 2025 burgundy leather fringed jacket and matching mini skirt may be giving “Hello, October” energy four days into June, but let’s be honest—Taraji’s never been one to play it safe. I’m loving how bold and unapologetically her it feels. Had she shown up in leather trousers, my opinion would have been different, but the mini keeps it playful. And major points for the tonal Paris Texas wrap-around sandals—there’s something very satisfying about a well-coordinated shoe moment.

I have questions. While this rich chocolate asymmetric Stéphane Rolland Spring 2023 Haute Couture dress is undeniably working overtime against her skin tone, it’s giving runway and reality, as I feel like am looking at two completely different dresses. The sculptural drama of the bodice, the architectural flair—it all seems to have vanished. Taraji still looked beautiful and carried it with her signature confidence, but I can’t help but miss the intricate details that made the original so impactful.
