Zoe Saldana’s awards season run is still going strong, and this time, she graced the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on Wednesday to receive the prestigious American Riviera Award. The event took place at The Arlington Theatre in California, and naturally, Zoe brought her signature elegance with a playful twist.
At first glance, her Thom Browne gown appeared to be your classic navy sequin dress—beautiful, but seemingly straightforward. But fashion is all about the details, and when I saw Petra Flannery’s Instagram video of this dress in motion, it was like unlocking a whole new level of appreciation.
Let’s start with the sculptural precision of those floating shoulders, giving Zoe a statuesque, modern edge. And then there’s the open back—an unexpected surprise—accentuated by Thom Browne’s signature red, white, and blue ribbons that perfectly tie the look together.
