Ruth Negga Wore Vintage Arnold Scassi To The Academy Museum Of Motion Pictures Opening Gala

Ruth Negga joined a host of celebrities on the red carpet for The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures Opening Gala on Saturday (September 25) in Los Angeles, California.

The Irish actress has been known to wear a lot of Louis Vuitton, but on this occasion, she wore a stunning Shrimpton Couture vintage Arnold Scaasi gown.

This is such a mesmerising piece, that I’m not sure what part to swoon over first. 

The deep green velvet bodice and puffy sleeves, or the floral embroidered sequins which adorn the skirt?

I have to give credit to the seamstress who tailored this gown to perfection. I can’t even imagine the time and delicacy needed to achieve this.

If you feel that this piece is reminiscent of something fit for royalty, well a very similar version was designed for Elizabeth Taylor who wore the dress to the 1992 Fifi Awards.

The Canadian designer is best known for the sheer suit worn by Barbara Streisand the night she won the Oscar for her role in ‘Funny Girl.’
