Winona Ryder In Christian Dior Haute Couture – 2020 SAG Awards

Winona Ryder In Christian Dior Haute Couture - 2020 SAG Awards

Winona Ryder merged dapper gentleman and Black Swan ballerina on the red carpet at the 2020 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday (January 19) in Los Angeles.

While some may call the actress’s look gothic or a nod to her previous ‘Beetlejuice’ role, I think Winona’s look speaks more to how a jacket can toughen a tutu.

The all black outfit from Christian Dior Spring 2018 Haute Couture features a satin blazer buttoned over a floor-length tiered, tulle skirt. The sheer lace bodice showed some skin without baring it all.

Ruffled shoulders and loosely swept up hair kept the look from being too stuffy. The ‘Stranger Things’ actress not only knows how to stay timeless but also how to combine influences.

Can we put the jackets-over-gowns trend to rest please. A blazer here really only works as part of the “use your bae’s blazer as a post-event cape” look. Think boyfriend jeans.

    Love it. Totally works imo.

Definitely something I would love to wear!
It’s stylish in so many ways, I love the combinaison of styles, and it fits to Wynona’s personality.

I like this. The blazer takes some of the sweetness of the ruffles away. I love the concept.

I want to love it but I can’t. There is a fit issue.

This is very Winona. I like the Victorian vibe but it feels very constrained. Hate the hair.

Oh no. None of this works.

At first glance, I hated this look, esp the strangle ruffles on the sleeves of the jacket, but looking at it a bit longer, I’m more on the fence about it now, although the handbag has to go. The hair is lovely, though.

I actually like this a lot!
And I love the fit of the blazer

Very Winona. It’s fine. Well translated from the runway, but that clutch is not right.

This looks like Victorian era rags to me. It’s a no. I take back what I said about Margot’s look. There are now two worst looks of the night.

    Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

    Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice . . .

nope. I despise that jacket. I dont think it fits or works well with the ruffles. Adds too much heaviness.

How many decades ago was this pic taken, I wonder. It feels like this look is all she ever does.
