Meghan, Duchess of Sussex In Brandon Maxwell & Burberry – Pillars Charity Event

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex In Brandon Maxwell & Burberry - Pillars Charity Event

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern this afternoon (October 30) at Pillars, a charity operating across New Zealand that supports children who have a parent in prison.

You’ll be forgiven if you think this is a re-run of her fitted dress and trench coat arrival look, but on this occasion she wore another dress from one of her favourite designers; Brandon Maxwell.

The custom look, which comes in a soft nude hue, was styled with Burberry ‘Maythorne’ Mulberry coat with nude Stuart Weitzman ‘Legend’ pumps, which, thanks to Meghan, are sold-out worldwide.

While I was very vocal about her love for beige on beige in the early days, but I have to say this is one of the smartest and well put together looks of this royal tour.

I’m tempted to say she was missing something – a bag perhaps – but I don’t want to ruin this perfect moment.

I don’t know. The look is…very beige. It seems odd that she kept her trench on inside/on stage. She looks beautiful. There’s really not much to it.

The first thing I thought when I saw these photos was: classic Kardashian pregnancy look.

That was what I immediately thought of too. Makes me dislike the whole look.

Same. I don’t really get the obsession with her style. Nobody likes her husband but Melania’s style is x100 times better.

I completely agree Caroline. I personally enjoy Melania’s style. Unlike Meghan, Melania has the height and posture to pull off big midi skirts.

      I thought the same thing.

She looks nice. It’s not extraordinary but it’s nice. The belly cupping is kind of cringy though :p

OMG, your cringe comment cracks me up. My sister has been saying the same thing. She is a Megan Stan but even she is like enough of the belly cupping.

I don’t think she is doing it consciously… give her a break!

        • SM November 1, 2018 at 4:31 pm #

I actually lean towards believing she is doing it consciously – only because she somehow managed to stop herself from doing it prior to their pregnancy announcement just 2 weeks ago.

I love this outfit, but the styling is pretty boring. Especially in the last picture it’s pretty obvious imo. It’s lacking something.

There’s understated but still interesting and then there’s understated borderlining on boring.

      Spot on ?

Plus, can someone in her 10 person strong entourage please iron her clothes. Yes I understand they can become wrinkled when sitting in a car but this is beyond wrinkled – it’s actually creased. If Harry can show up without looking crumpled, Meghan can too.

A great earring really could have taken this outfit to another level. Her jewellery choices have been so safe and boring up until now.

For instance, there are currently some lovely jewellery labels reinventing pearl jewellery design. Labels such as Mizuki (favourite), Mateo NY and Anissa Kermiche. Or some smaller earring options from the Nova collection from Ippolata would work as well.

Other non-pearl options include the smaller earring designs from Australian (how befitting!) brand Sarah and Sebastian. The disco shaker earrings from Jacquie Aiche and the pave coil earrings from Anita Ko are also lovely options.

Honestly, nowadays it’s actually hard to not stumble upon fine and chic jewellery with a slight edge. All aforementioned options are elegant and chic and infinitely more interesting than the jewellery she usually sports. You just have to be willing to take a risk.

I wonder she’ll wear some of Tisci for Burberry. She always looks so office ready but I guess it’s difficult to look formal and interesting without some thinking it’s ostentatious.
