Solange Knowles In Jean Paul Gaultier Couture – 2017 Glamour Women Of The Year Awards

Solange Knowles joined a host of celebrities including Nicole Kidman and Zendaya Coleman for Glamour’s 2017 Women of The Year Awards on Monday (November 13) in Brooklyn, New York, where she picked up The Artist Award.

I love the subtle fashion forward traits which makes this Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2017 Couture chartreuse velvet gown a powerful look.

Amped up with the futuristic opera gloves, the look was also styled with Y/Project Fall 2017 black leather thigh high spiral strap sandals for added flare and Mateo earrings.

Should Solange have rocked the full runway look, or do you like that she made this look her own?

She looks like a robot, Nay..

I really don’t like her hair at the moment. She would have rocked this look with a natural black fro.

The dress is great but those gloves are so bad! What was she thinking? Her hair colour is terrible too. It’s ultimately a no, she didn’t make it work IMO.

Bad color made worse by her hair color. It’s a no for me.

Would have loved to see her rock that entire Y/Project look! That would’ve looked awesome on her

The color really unappealing especially with her haircolor. And I cannot stand those freaking strap sandals on anyone!!
    Its a no.

Lately I feel like she tries way too hard to be avant-garde.

I agree. I think she ALWAYS tries way too hard. Here she looks like a muppet with a curtain rod hung on shoulders. Like…why?

I can’t with the hair color that matches the color of the dress. I get that Solange is avant garde but this just looks silly. I actually would have liked it better if she had gone full runway styling on this — that would have been avant garde. This is just a mishmash. The sandals just do not work with the dress.

+1. I used to love her style but this new direction, I just can’t.

one step away from showing everyone the goods. I find this ugly. Ugly color, ugly gloves and her hair is terrible.

The slit is too high, I hate her hair (the color not the texture) and the gloves need to go.

    • TeaAtTwo November 14, 2017 at 16:36 #

+1 she’s got the presence to make the gloves work though I wouldn’t miss them if removed. I definitely agree about the first two points.

This is fabulous except for the sandals which could have been utilised in another look but are too jarring for this one.

i like that she made it her own, but the slit is too high.

a good choice for her style in any case.

The runway is obviously over styled and caricaturesque for showmanship reasons. Her adaptation looks much superior. I love those sandals with the ensemble.
