Rita Ora In Marchesa – 2017 Met Gala

Marchesa and Rita Ora have been a winning combination since the singer first donned the British-born, New York-based brand back in 2012; so I was excited to see the union was on top form for Monday night’s (May 1) 2017 Met Gala.

While there are times I find Rita’s style frustratingly inconsistent, she tends to nail the big occasions.

I love that her custom Marchesa gown is beautifully draped and wrapped up with a neat bows while exuding couture-like craftsmanship.

There were many great gowns tonight, but this one left me breathless.

This is one of my favourite looks of the night, but in all honesty my first thought was “I wish katy perry had worn this”. It SCREAMED katy perry. And in a funny way the messy, try-hard look katy went with felt more like rita…..

The look is distinct, standout, and worthy of the gala, and I actually love her styling.

This dress on this night is very cool.

I can’t believe that I am liking this outing this much considering I abhor both Marchesa and Rita Ora. But she looks really good here. The design is perfect for the occasion. And the head style is perfection.

Fabulous dress, I am in awe! I just wished it had been worn by someone else…

    I love this!!!!! Beautiful!

I don’t love it. It’s fine, the dress is interesting but overworked like a typical marchesa. I dig the hair.

I like the design, the execution not so much. Looks sloppy in the midsection.

I only like her hair and beauty look. She looks gorgeous!

    • Nat39 May 3, 2017 at 01:55 #

I’m loving hair and makeup too!

Wow. Had to rub my eyes. A fab nod to the theme without descending into cartoon caricature. She looks great– in Marquesa (!)

To my surprise I like the dress on her. The hair ruins the overall look for me.

I love this dress, it is so beautifully executed. Rita’s styling works well with the theme of the evening. She looks wonderful.

Waist up, it’s not bad. It’s the rest that I don’t like.

This is not for me. The dress, hair, style, none of it.

  15. Trinny May 2, 2017 at 04:16 #

I don’t mind this. She looks like she’s been wrapped up in a giant ribbon.

  16. Shaina May 2, 2017 at 03:48 #

    She looks breathtakingly beautiful.

Wow! this is insane! I am very rarely a fan of anything that Rita wears but this is unbelievable!

I’m not familiar with the theme so I don’t know if she bailed ir or not but I personally loathe this from head (literally) to toe.

Why does Rita Ora get invited to events like this? She hasn’t even finished her ‘I am a legitimate singer’ album yet (her first didn’t count). She hasn’t put in THE WORK to earn a spot at any of these events(but neither have some of the other attendees…).

This is a mess. No wonder it’s Marchesa.

      I agree.

    • alvarospain May 2, 2017 at 07:30 #

      This is rude!

      • Vallath May 2, 2017 at 18:31 #

It isn’t. Celebrity is a study in of itself, and Rita Ora doesn’t belong here based on the work. At this point, asking Why Is with Rita Ora is a fair point. At least Kate Bosworth, a mocktress, is working somewhat steadily in her profession. Rita Ora, a singer, is showing up at everything without having any work in her profession -music- to show.
