Diane Kruger was the queen of Cannes, she looked great in DG and Prada. I loved Natalie Portman in Rodarte and Lanvin.
Cannes is becoming less glamorous and a bit boring… all those giant gowns kind of look the same.
    Venice is becoming more interesting.

Fan Bingbing and Araya for me

  5. Hasu May 29, 2015 at 9:43 am #

Araya in Ashi studio was best dressed

  6. RT May 28, 2015 at 1:59 pm #

Aishwarya in Georges Chakra and R&R.
    Queen of course Aishwarya Rai.

  7. frevor May 28, 2015 at 12:31 pm #

I’m slightly disappointed that you didn’t include Julianne’s Armani Prive opening look. That was OTT glamour yet very tasteful. Also I believe Elizabeth Debicki looked soooo chic in her blush Giambattista Valli. It was certainly the best beauty look.

As far as the best dressed; it was defo Care Blanchett in Giles, followed by Julianne Moore in Armani Prive and Diane Kruger in Prada.

    • Catherine Kallon May 29, 2015 at 2:18 am #

      Dear Frevor,

The reason why there was a Best Dressed Of The Day post, was so you, the reader would dictate who was the best dressed so I would be easy for me to put this together.

It would appear that your fellow readers didn’t agree with you on this occasion as she wasn’t voted the best of that day.

There is an other portion so you are very welcome to add your vote.

  8. Marybeth May 28, 2015 at 6:49 am #

Fan Bingbing in Ralph & Russo is my number one.
I’d include Aishwarya Rai in R&R, Sonam Kapoor in Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, Araya Hargate in Ashi, and Erin O”connor in R&R in my top five.

Needless to say, Ralph & Russo win hands down as the festival designer.

Aishwarya Rai for Queen this year. Her first Elie Saab look wasn’t so great but all of the other looks were great. Honorable mention to Sonam Kapoor for taking risks and bringing us drama — and to Araya Hargate for the quintessential princess moment in that big Ashi.

  9. Monica May 28, 2015 at 3:27 am #

Excellent Cannes coverage. Thank you FC + RCFA team!!

  10. Sharon May 28, 2015 at 3:24 am #

This is one fashion which I look forward to so eagerly……this year didn’t excite me at all…when it cam and went don’t know…..thankful to Aishwarya for bringing the glamour but nothing else excited ..not even Cate, Diane or Charlize….sure as hell we missed the likes of Frieda, Blake etc. they bring something magical to red carpet…….

    so here it goes.
    1. Queen of Cannes – Aishwarya Rai Bacchan – no one comes even closer…when she is on red carpet…you’re hooked….

    2. Best dressed – again Aishwarya in Oscar de la Renta, Ralph & Russo
    3. Designer – Ralph & Russo – boy aren’t we glad – so tired of Saab n Murad’s embellished gowns
    4. Best dressed Model – Doutzen Kroes – minimilastic approach but paid off…heavenly beauty – only if Aishwarya was not present…easily would have the most beautiful woman on Cannes red carpet

Though I sincerely believe many outstanding gowns were not featured here for lack of photos provided by Getty or whatever…..

Conclusively could have been the dullest and most forgetful Cannes …only salvaged by Aishwary’s presence….

Would love to see more Indian beautuies out there…likes of Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Kangana Ranaut…believe me they can set fir to the Cannes red carpet…..

  11. tweed May 28, 2015 at 12:20 am #

The only ones I really liked were: Rachel Weisz’s Narciso Rodriguez jumpsuit, Erin O’Connor’s red Ralph and Russo, Aishwarya Rai’s red Oscar De La Renta, Diane Kruger’s Prada, Fan Bingbing’s Ralph and Russo from the opening ceremony, and Charlotte Casiraghi’s Gucci.

  12. Dutch girl May 27, 2015 at 8:43 pm #

    Dear Catherine FC,

In my opinion the festival was actually very disappointing.
Every time I hoped to be wowed… but I already forgot most of the looks. Sadly.

I think the film festival in Cannes is one of the most ‘big’ moments of the year to shine and glow, for gowns and glamour, like the Oscars, Golden Globes, and events like that.

But… there were a few favourites: Fan Bingbing in Ralph and Russo, Emma Stone in Christian Dior, Aishwarya Rai in Ralph and Russo and Oscar de la Renta, Diane Kruger in Prada and, not to forget: Charlize Theron. Her yellow dress was, looking at the bright colour, perhaps a risk that paid off, but very refreshing. It was quite an eye catcher!

    Ralph and Russo best couture. Males… I didn’t follow… 😉

My queen of Cannes is Aishwarya Rai. She looked all times delightful, beautiful and glamourous. I think she’ll be even more beautiful in a burlap sack!

I really hope next year the festival will be much more glamourous.

I’d liked your posts very much. Thanks for featuring!

    • Catherine Kallon May 29, 2015 at 2:20 am #

Yes, I was really disappointed. Very few people wowed me this year and I agree I have already forgotten about most.

  13. Sunee May 27, 2015 at 8:15 pm #

Best dressed: Diane Kruger (Prada) & Fan Bingbing (opening)
    Queen of Cannes: Aishwarya Rai

  14. dee May 27, 2015 at 7:49 pm #

Very disappointing Cannes this year. My favorites Fan in R&R, Diane in Prada, Sienna Millerin her opening ceremony look and that’s it.

  15. EmmaWoodhouse May 27, 2015 at 7:12 pm #

Really, some outstanding looks this year. Fan’s Opening Ceremony look wins for me, but Diane, Cate, Erin, Aishwarya in Ralph and Russo, Araya Hargate in Ashi Studio–just amazing. Ralph & Russo wins for designer. Colin Farrell for men.

  16. Yeliz May 27, 2015 at 6:33 pm #

Favourite Look of Cannes Film Festival 2015 – Cate Blanchett in Giles
Red Carpet Designer Of Cannes 2015 – Ralph & Russo Couture
Queen of Cannes 2015 – Cate Blanchett
Best Dressed Model of Cannes 2015 – Toni Garrn
Best Dressed Male 2015 – Colin Farrell

And here is my Top 10:

    1. Cate Blanchett in Giles
    2. Diane Kruger in Prada
    3. Fan Bingbing in Ralph & Russo Couture (Opening Ceremony)
    4. Aishwarya Rai in Ralph & Russo Couture
    5. Julianne Moore in Armani Privé
    6. Charlize Theron in Christian Dior Couture
    7. Araya A. Hargate in Ashi Studio
    8. Cate Blanchett in Armani Privé
    9. Erin O’Connor in Ralph & Russo Couture
    10. Marion Cotillard in Christian Dior Couture

  17. chim May 27, 2015 at 4:15 pm #

Katrina Kaif was best dressed and Queen of Cannes ! Katrina’s first year at Cannes and she did fantastically well, loved both her red carpet looks, she tried something totally different with outfit, hair and make up !

  18. Manuel May 27, 2015 at 4:05 pm #

    Cate Blanchett

  19. Carol May 27, 2015 at 3:44 pm #

So hard to pick when absolutely no one shocked me. I think I don’t want to see another Elie Saab or Zuhair Murad dress for at least 2 years. The Ralph & Russo gowns were captivating and intriguing but definitely not flawless, many of them were exaggerated and even cheap. I was not impressed by Fan, Aishwarya or Araya, none of their looks excited me or made me a fan.
If I had to choose, I’d go with Diane Kruger in Prada and Emma Stone in Dior. Diane’s Dolce & Gabbana photocall look was also my favourite from the photocalls. Followed by Emily Blunt in Peter Pilotto. Considering how Diane was my favourite on the red carpet and the photocall, I’ll give her the crown as Queen of Cannes.
Matthew McConaughey for best dressed male in Dolce & Gabbana.
Daria Strokous for best dressed model in her lavender Luisa Beccaria gown.
Best designer: Dior for delivering the best gowns of the festival (Emma, Natalie (both), Charlize and Marion).

    • Ramsay May 27, 2015 at 9:26 pm #

      I agree on all these
I have to say it rarely happens that I share that many opinions with someone

  20. Caroline May 27, 2015 at 3:30 pm #

There was no Queen of Cannes for me this year. This had to be the most dissapointing so far.

  21. Caroline May 27, 2015 at 3:25 pm #

Best dressed: Diane Kruger in Prada
2nd best dressed: Emma Stone in Dior
Best dressed model: Lily Donaldson in Saint Laurent
Designer: Dior. Wow, shocking but honestly, TOO MUCH Elie Saab and Zuhair Murad and this year’s Diors were all flawless. From Emma, to Natalie, Marion and Charlize, to the models, Doutzen Kroes and Imogen Waterhouse, it’s safe to say Dior stepped up this year.
Best male: Nicholas Hoult in Dior

    • Caroline May 27, 2015 at 3:31 pm #

*2nd best dressed model: Jourdan Dunn in Ralph & Russo.

  22. from-chitown May 27, 2015 at 2:57 pm #

Thanks FC – for your amazing coverage of Cannes. Enjoyed it thoroughly. For me there were at least 3 BDOTY at Cannes this year. Fan Bingbing, Aishwarya Rai and Diane Kruger.

Queen of Cannes – Aishwarya Rai. She blew me away.

  23. Ariya May 27, 2015 at 2:54 pm #

Thanks for the amazing coverage Catherine and team.

There were quite a few memorable kooks this year. My favourites are-
    1. Fan in R&R
    2. Erin O’Connor in R&R
    3. Diane in Prada
    4. Aishwarya in Georges C and R&R
    5. Araya in GV and R&R
    6. Care in Giles and Armani Prive
    7. Julianne in Armani Prive

Queen of Cannes for me was Diane Kruger as I not loved her premiere and photocall looks but also her airport and street style and outfits from other events. Aishwarya though gorgeous I found her hair same and boring.

    Best Model-Erin O’Connor

Best Male- Xavier Dolan as he was quite refreshing.

  24. Phoenix May 27, 2015 at 2:34 pm #

Fan Bingbing in Ralph & Russo for opening ceremony. That was BDOTY-worthy.

Ralph & Russo being the stand-out by far and away of the entire Cannes.

For the models, the only one that had the best n most looks that I recall is Chanel Iman.

    Xavier Dolan for the men.

Queen of Cannes? Im having trouble with. No one person really stood out above the others for me this year. Hm.

  25. Addicted2Style May 27, 2015 at 1:50 pm #

Aishwarya Rai finished 14 years at Cannes in 2015! Let us just say when it comes to establishing a track record, she has seen them come and she’ll see them go. Plus, style wise at least she stays true to what works for her. That Ralph and Russo creation was worn with the same drama that she drummed up when she wore THAT golden Cavalli number at the festival (and if I remember correctly, FC did give her Best Dressed of the Week).

IMO (fashion wise) Cate, Diane, Fan and Julianne delivered. Everyone else was either too cutesy or one-note or uninspired.

  26. Chris May 27, 2015 at 1:01 pm #

I really liked this years festival…

    1. Favourite Look of Cannes Film Festival 2015: Fan Bingbing in Ralph & Russo Couture, obviously… followed by Diane’s Prada, Emma Stone in Dior Couture and Lupita Nyongo’s first Gucci… I think…
    2. Red Carpet Designer Of Cannes 2015: It’s Christian Dior for me. I think we’ve had an overload of Elie Saab and Zuhair Murad (and Ralph & Russo) this year, out of which, if you look at the lot, only a few stand out, while I loved almost every single Dior (Emma Stone, Charlize Theron, both of Natalie Portman’s but especially the second, Marion Cotillard…) and they felt quite refreshing amongst all the Elie Saabs and Zuhair Murads. So I go with Dior. With Ralph & Russo in second place.
    3. Queen of Cannes 2015: That wasn’t easy to pick. I think I choose Cate Blanchett, because as far as I remember, she’s the only one who delivered not one, but two BDOTY-looks for me.
    4. Best Dressed Model of Cannes 2015: Hmm. Somehow, I already forgot about most of them, except for Karlie Kloss, who was at least at her personal best.
    5. Best Dressed Male 2015: Xavier Dolan. For sure. He had, I think, three or four looks this festival that I absolutely loved and another few that were really good as well. Others also looked good, but Xavier had some really refreshing choices, that didn’t feel like we have seen exactly that a couple of times before. Because, as good as a Colin Farrell might have looked on the red carpet, I can’t even count how many times I have seen very very similar suits before. I can be picky when it comes to menswear and doing that, only Xavier was truly interesting this festival.

  27. anna May 27, 2015 at 12:32 pm #

Always Diane Kruger. That Prada dress..
(Close behind: Cate Blanchett and Aishwarya Rai. Maybe Sienna Miller)

  28. alvaro_spain May 27, 2015 at 12:20 pm #

    Best dressed: Charlize Theron
    Designer: Ralph&Russo
    Male: Jake Gyllenhaal

    • Fiona-Brasil May 28, 2015 at 1:19 am #

      + 1

  29. TinaL May 27, 2015 at 11:38 am #

Thank you FC and the team for your hard word and great coverage.
My favorite looks: Fan Bingbing and Diane Kruger are my number 1, followed by Aishwarya Rai and Sienna Miller
    Queen of Cannes: Aishwarya Rai
Ralph and Russo definitely win best designer
Models are okay, they look nice but no one really stands out.
Favorite photocall look: Diane Kruger in Dolce & Gabbana, She Qi in Alexander McQueen

    • TinaL May 27, 2015 at 11:44 am #

And definitely agree with others, Cannes this year was somehow disappointing. Not sure how many of them (maybe none?) will be in BDOTY.

  30. Christine May 27, 2015 at 11:34 am #

Will vote later for my favorites.

This year was more miss than hits for me.

  31. Rashmi May 27, 2015 at 11:11 am #

Designer of Cannes will be won by Ralph & Russo Couture by a landslide! All the gowns were stunning!
Fan Bingbing’s first day R&R was by far my most favorite look followed by Araya in Ashi Studio.
Queen of Cannes, Aishwarya Rai for giving us 3 great look (including Amfar, excluding Elie Saab) and Araya for 2 stunning looks.

Thanks a lot FC. for the superb Cannes coverage like always.

PS: I just went rhrough some of the other blogs’ best dressed lists, and it included so many dreadful Cannes looks :|. It reminded me why RCFA is the most genuine and fashion centric blog 🙂

  32. Amy May 27, 2015 at 10:47 am #

It’s safe to say Ralph and Russo kinda have won this time. Most of the best looks came from them. I loved:
    Fan Binbing first dress
    Diane’s dress
    Aisharya ‘s Ralph look

  33. james May 27, 2015 at 10:41 am #

Fan for me, ths only one I will remember for this year. I was not impressed with this year, I haven’t been impressed by Cannes in years to be honest.

  34. Lexa May 27, 2015 at 10:15 am #

best look – Diane Kruger, best designer – Ralph & Russo, Queen of Cannes – Aishwarya Rai, best model – Karlie Kloss, best male: Colin Farrel 🙂
Thanks FC for the coverng – great as usual 🙂

  35. Annu May 27, 2015 at 9:56 am #

Sonam in Abu Jani and Araya in Ashi studio was best dressed.

Queen of cannes will be Sonam for me

  36. Nat39 May 27, 2015 at 9:04 am #

My vote goes to Fan Bingbing’s Ralph and Russo Couture look at the opening ceremony – delicately artful and breathtakingly elegant, it was creme de la creme. Followed by stunning Erin O’Connor in R&R (the red gown look of the year for me), Cate in Giles, Araya with her 2 delightful looks Valli and Ashi Studio, and Aishwarya in R&R.

The designer is obvious. Ralph and Russo stole Cannes red carpet this year.

I’d give Araya “Princess of Cannes”, I found her very refreshing.

    • Nat39 May 28, 2015 at 12:49 am #

and I’d add Sonam’s incredible Abu Jani-Sandeep at the Chopard Party.

Don’t get the excitement about Diane’s Prada. To me it was just nice – overdone light blue-silverish embellished sheer and a basic halter top. I liked it, she did look lovely, but it’s a bit weak imo. with no real distinct impact.

  37. Ariel May 27, 2015 at 8:18 am #

Every year at Cannes I look forward to a yellow gown, Aishwarya’s beauty, Sonam’s style, and Fan’s best dress of the year. One major surprise was the lack of Elie Saab gowns. He has been replaced by Ralph and Russo. Undeniably, Aishwarya is the Queen Of Cannes. Fan’s Ralph and Russo gown was my best dressed at Cannes 2015.

  38. Sarah May 27, 2015 at 8:06 am #

Thank you to the FC team for the amazing covering of Cannes 2015 !

And, imo, we’ve seen much more big gowns (thx to Ralph & Russo Couture) than last year, what do you think ?
