Absolutely spot on FC. I definitely laughed out loud after reading some of them!

  2. Della May 11, 2015 at 2:30 am #

Fan Bing Bing’s custom made gown is so beautiful I want to cry. And Bee’s stunning Alexander McQueen dress is one I’ll never forget. One of the best Met Galas ever.

  3. Tracey May 10, 2015 at 10:11 pm #

omg I laughed so hard at the Jen Lawrence comment. I say that all the time. She is too young for that haggy stuff dior shows these days.

Great round up, never miss them.

  4. Aminet May 9, 2015 at 7:58 pm #

LOL! Please tell me you do stand up in your free time?!

    Fab picks as always! xx

  5. Catherine May 9, 2015 at 6:20 pm #

FC, probably your BEST roundup ever! Thank you so much for your excellent coverage, as always. My favorites were Bee Shaffer, Diane Kruger, Emily Blunt, and Anne Hathaway. Also completely agree with your awards for Elizabeth Banks, Solange Knowles, Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé, Jennifer Lawrence, Kerry Washington, and Sofia Vergara. SO spot on! I wonder why Kerry Washington always receives the worst Prada gowns (although I loved her after-party Prada dress), and I really hope Jennifer Lawrence’s contract with Dior ends soon! Thanks again!

  6. Rachel May 9, 2015 at 5:01 pm #

Very funny! I always enjoy your final comments, thanks for that.
I agree with you in almost everything, I would just put Gigi Hadid in the Best red, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in both the best model and the best Versace

  7. anu May 9, 2015 at 3:30 pm #

The thirst award sponsored by H2O!!!!!!!!!
Literally cant breathe from laughing so hard!!!
    LOVEEE IT!

  8. Megan May 9, 2015 at 3:26 pm #

AMAZING round up FC! Kerry’s award is so well deserved 😉

  9. summer May 9, 2015 at 1:35 pm #

i think chloe sevigny dress should get more praise. while j.lo and beyonce are trying to show their butts as much as possible, JW anderson design is so unique and is relatable to the theme. if u look at at it many times, it kinda grow on you. cool, sassy, and refreshing.

    • AB May 10, 2015 at 11:14 am #

Chloe Sevigny’s dress is having the opposite effect on me, the more I look at it the more I think what was she thinking? I completely agree with FC.

  10. Ella May 9, 2015 at 12:51 pm #

Robert is just perfect! Beautiful, sexy, elegant, amazing shape, super handsome
I love you Robert Thomas Pattinson!! You the Best!

  11. Noemi May 9, 2015 at 11:18 am #

Even if I find Bee Shaffer’s gown absolutely gorgeous, the dress reminds me of Japan, with the cherry blossoms. I’ve gifted with a kimono, recently, and it has the exact pattern of the dress!

    • msj May 14, 2015 at 5:09 am #

kimonos, among many japanese cultural symbols, originated in china. during the tang dynasty,
japan was inspired and borrowed heavily chinese culture of that time.

  12. Phoenix May 9, 2015 at 7:07 am #

Just to be clear though! This is my favorite part of any event….I adore and wait for the FC roundup every time. Love love love these critiques!

  13. Phoenix May 9, 2015 at 6:58 am #

I will forever more wonder how Karolina Kurkova would have presented Rihannas yellow glorious coat. Karolina would of shut it down in a classy, cool, on-theme, no-questions asked, kind of way.

Rihanna does it more in an attention seeking, carnival, all-over-theme, questioning, etc way.
Disappointing. Disappointing because Rihanna couldnt hold enough credit for such a theme.

The dramatic coat could have been a glorious representation of the Chinese theme…….the way she presented it was carnival-y, costumey.

  14. argentina May 9, 2015 at 5:24 am #

LMAO. Your post was hilarious yet so on point. Have to thank you so much for your coverage once again. Your love for fashion makes me love fashion even more.

  15. Kate May 9, 2015 at 1:59 am #

Thirsty? Oh well, she was still elected one of the best dressed on the likes of Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue so Queen B is still winning.

    • Bec May 10, 2015 at 3:04 am #

It seems no other critics can look at Beyoncés style objectively.

They just put her straight in the best dressed pile regardless of what she wears because she is ‘Queen B’….she made Givenchy look like House of Dereon for christs sake.

That is why I appreciate RCFA and Catherine in particular…she objectively critiques those she likes (and those she doesn’t like) on what they wear and not who they are.

Love your work, keep it up – cant wait for Cannes xx

    Omg, on point.

  17. Maya May 8, 2015 at 10:45 pm #

Your rounds ups are really hilarious! Thanks!

  18. Sanya May 8, 2015 at 10:19 pm #

LOL… I started to wonder what kind of shoes did Fan have? We’ve (or at least I) never got a chance to see them. Does anybody know?

    • msj May 9, 2015 at 5:47 am #

Don’t know about Fan, but Beyonce certainly wore those slut shoes and and looked like one too.

  19. TL May 8, 2015 at 9:43 pm #

Lol…”how long do you have left on your Dior contract? Award” FC you are amazing, love this one.
The “Can do so much better award” could also go to Diane Kruger. Expected a lot more from her.

  20. MEME May 8, 2015 at 9:41 pm #

    The SHADE!!!! Lol

  21. NH May 8, 2015 at 9:37 pm #

i barely comment but I just had to for this… this round up was just perfect! I cant stop laughing. You are truly the best Catherine 🙂

  22. Nadine May 8, 2015 at 8:29 pm #

So far I’m the only one who can’t appreciate the thirst award…what does it mean? I’m still bummed Emily Blunt didn’t win, but I wrote her in. Thanks.

  23. Amelie May 8, 2015 at 8:17 pm #

Bee Shaffer’s dress is more Japanese than Chinese but she looked great.

    • msj May 9, 2015 at 5:51 am #

plum blossoms and cranes were traditional Chinese motifs centuries ago and influenced the Japanese

  24. Christine May 8, 2015 at 8:12 pm #

Lmao at this!!!!!! Your best one yet!!!! Lol love it

  25. Rashmi May 8, 2015 at 8:12 pm #

Zhang and Bee for me. Elegant, on theme and beautiful!
Fan gown is too gawdy for my personal taste.. looks cheap. The cape however is beautiful!

    • Nat39 May 8, 2015 at 9:08 pm #

As much as I’m trying to justify it as a ‘MET costume gala material’, “gawdy” is the word that crossed my mind as well, unfortunately.

    • Phoenix May 9, 2015 at 6:38 am #

Ha! I keep trying to ‘justify’ also…..I want to love, but gawdy is the first thing. as much as I totally do not want to feel that way.

  26. Debbie May 8, 2015 at 8:00 pm #

Rob Pattinson spot on. no man looked better. I thought Sophia’s dress was pretty.

  27. EmmaWoodhouse May 8, 2015 at 7:58 pm #

OMG this was awesome!!! The thirst award. #bless

And totally agree about Fan, Zhang, Anne. Yes.

  28. Amy May 8, 2015 at 7:38 pm #

I swear you roundups are the best. I died at the thirst award sponsored by H2O .Too much for me to handle.
    Solange’s award is so true.

    • Amy May 8, 2015 at 7:39 pm #

      your roundups. sorry

  29. Indigo May 8, 2015 at 7:35 pm #

Lol love your round ups FC! Can someone explain to me the Beyonce joke? English is not my mother tongue…

    • Aline May 9, 2015 at 4:01 am #

Because of her hair, was completly dry…

      • Jennifer May 9, 2015 at 4:14 am #

That’s actually not it. FC’s implying that she’s thirsty for attention, Hence the crotch crystals,

    • msd May 9, 2015 at 6:27 am #

It’s a play on words. In English people are described as being “thirsty for attention” or “thirsty for fame” … it implies desperation to be famous or the centre of attention, something they need like water (simliar to hungry for fame etc).

Bee Shaffer and Zhang Ziyi were my two faves. Classy but not the slightest bit boring. I loved Fan Bing Bing’s cape but not so much the dress. It crossed the line into gaudiness for me. I wish it had been done in Anne’s wonderful liquid gold fabric. Livia was gorgeous but a little bit too matchy-matchy. KK gets points for being so much fun (killer shoes too) so she’s my fave red.

      • Indigo May 9, 2015 at 4:56 pm #

        Haha thank you!

  30. John May 8, 2015 at 7:29 pm #

Bee Shaffer is on top of my BDOTY list. She looked amazing without trying too hard, good taste is in her DNA lol.

  31. Indigo May 8, 2015 at 7:22 pm #

Lol Rihanna and SJP should be Most memed looks award.
English is not my mother tongue, can anyone explain the Beyonce joke? Thanks!

    • toportyan May 9, 2015 at 6:37 am #

thirsty is slang for overeager or desperate

  32. Zineb May 8, 2015 at 7:16 pm #

Bee Shaffer was a revelation for me. That mcQueen gown is on my BDOTY list.
I’d love to see Beyonce go on WDOTY, it will be very much deserved. Anyone attending an event naked deserves a spot.

    • Mimmi May 8, 2015 at 10:04 pm #

I could not agree more. That gown was lovely and will be the one I remember at the end of the year.

  33. Prudence May 8, 2015 at 7:16 pm #

THE THIRST IS REAL SPONSORED BY H20…………..DEAD TO THE BEDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY YOU DO ME LIKE THAT CATHERINE, I WAS NOT READY!!!!

  34. Nat39 May 8, 2015 at 7:05 pm #

Zhang, Fan, Livia…all my top 3 and Karolina best among models. But somehow I didn’t feel that Fan’s ensemble was that grand to knock me off my feet, it looked a little bit cheap to me, sorry, and the hair and eye makeup didn’t flatter (see Zhang for how it should flatter). My opinion remains – Zhang was the finest of them all and loved Robert.

    • Nat39 May 8, 2015 at 7:22 pm #

… Zhang was more fashion, style and finesse (while on theme) whereas Fan – more one- dimensional movie-set. Zhang was a level above for me.

      • Nat39 May 8, 2015 at 8:25 pm #

and def. shout out to Bee(!)

  35. Lily May 8, 2015 at 6:33 pm #

Thanks for summing this up so marvelously! I had the worst day, but I forgot all about it when I read your post 🙂

  36. Yeliz May 8, 2015 at 6:33 pm #

I just love your roundups, Catherine. Laughed way too much when I read Solange, Beyonce and Kerry’s awards.

    • Stel May 9, 2015 at 4:19 pm #

Can you explain the Beyonce award please?

  37. olala May 8, 2015 at 6:26 pm #

Sofia Vergara, as pretty as she is, looks like she just puts on a gown and goes. No innovation. Even I do not have such a code, and I am a poor, heterosexual, male scientist!

In one episode of modern family she had her hair half tied, and she looked freaking awesome!

  38. Nadia99 May 8, 2015 at 6:25 pm #

    Oh My God !!
It’s one of your best round ups ever, Catherine.

The one you gave to Beyonce is priceless !!

I also agree with everthing, obviously 😉

    • Rashmi May 8, 2015 at 8:04 pm #

I swear! I was laughing so hard throughout the awards.. It has to be one of FC’s best till date! And all spot on.

    • François Bresmal May 9, 2015 at 1:36 am #

I agree!!!!!! I always look for your roundups but this one, I just need to write everything down to remember it :’DD
