Tadashi Shoji Spring 2013

Tadashi Shoji took us on a journey along the Modern Silk Road, where East meets West, for his Spring 2013 collection.

The designer, who has successfully dressed many Oscar-winning actresses, started the show with elegant day dresses in his favourite fabric: lace.

On a warm colour palette of paprika, desert, lavender with a selection of blues ranging from lagoon to china to ocean alongside classic black looks, we saw many dresses destined for the red carpet.

Cocktail dresses with Peter Pan collars, pencil dresses, trapeze dresses, long-sleeve gowns, strapless gowns, caplet gowns and tiered tulle gowns were just a few of the highlights, with the colourful piecework and ikat-print dresses requiring a second look.

Favourites: Pale iris ikat-print gazar strapless pleated dress and the floral appliqué spaghetti strap slip gown.

Front Row: Angela Simmons, June Ambrose, Daisy Fuentes
