Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Last night Lily Allen was one of the many performers at the 2010 Brit Awards in London.

She walked the red carpet sporting an Anna Wintour style bob and a Chanel Pre-Fall 2010 black gown.

The black gown itself is exquisite.

I love the high red embroidered neckline and the jeweled detail on the waist, but this gown is too grand for Lily Allen.

Cate Blanchett and Erin O’Connor would’ve looked so statuesque in this gown, but Lily barely pulls it off.

Sometimes I get the Chanel Lily collabo, but on this occasion it didn’t quite work for me.

Cute bob though.

TV and radio presenter Fearne Cotton wore a Olivia Rubin Spring 2010 dress to the Brit Awards Shortlist Party at the O2 Arena in London earlier this week.

She teamed the dress with a pair of tights from House Of Holland’s Pretty Polly range with “Wanna Party” written up the back.

We’re used to seeing Fearne in quirky pieces and although I’m not normally a fan of comedy accessories, these tights seemed event (and person) appropriate.

I love this shade of blue on Fearne, and really like how the black waistband cinches her in.

Fearne is a fan of this designer and we have seen her in Olivia Rubin before.

Red lips and curls completed her look.

Us Brits love Kylie Minogue, so much so that we often forget she is actually not British.

Last night at the Brit Awards, Kylie Minogue was one of the host of the show. She entertained the crowds, with not only her singing, but her many wardrobe changes.

As did not see the show, I am unsure of the order in which she wore them, so this is in order of my preference.

The Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2009 Couture gown, is exquisite, and my favourite look of the night.

Other looks included two Balmain mini dresses, a Ungaro gown, and a stunning sequinned silvery Blumarine gown, with floral details.

Best Dressed Award
This J. Mendel strapless tulle mermaid gown may have been OTT for some of you, but I loved Nicola Roberts in this dress.

For the first time she really stands out from the group. She is glowing, and I particularly love her hair and make-up.

Becki Newton has also worn this dress.

Best Group Award
Girls Aloud as a group looked fantastic last night.

From left to right, Nadine Coyle wore a peachy strapless William Tempest dress with matching Giuseppe Zanotti peep-toes.

Kimberly Walsh opted for a white plunging Roberto Cavalli Spring 2009 gown, with cut-outs and embellished trims.

Sarah Harding opted for a sexy Vivienne Westwood peachy taffeta dress, with a very revealing split up the side and satin champagne Christian Louboutin pointy heels. Her hair was style waves.

I will say that Cheryl Cole on the far right, did disappoint me slightly, as the top part of her Georges Chakra dress does not work for me.

Best Black Award
Kylie Minogue looked radiant in a black sequinned floor-length strapless Dolce & Gabbana gown, which had an embellished bow detailed sash.

Best Embellishments Award
Taylor Swift loves to sparkle on the red carpet. She took a break from wearing an embellished dress at the Grammy’s, but she reverted back to her red carpet favourite last night, wearing a silver strapless stone sequin mini Kaufman Franco dress.

Best Use Of Colour Award
I’m in love with electric blue this season, so Alexandra Burke had to make my Best Dressed List wearing a Emilio de la Moreno round neck fitted dress, which she wears with black sgtrappy Christian Louboutin buckle sandals.

Most Daring Award
The singer know as Little Boots, embraced the spirit of this rock n’ roll event by wearing an geometric Alexander McQueen Spring 2009 dress, with YSL grey patent heels.

Most Improved Award
OK it’s still black, but Duffy look considerably better from her Grammy disasters.

Her LBD from Paule Ka’s Spring 2009 collection, I thought looked quite stylish, and her nude and black trim peep-toes complimented her dress very well.

Kinda Like It Award
I was ready to instantly dislike Pixie Geldof’s look before I even saw it, but I actually kinda like it.

Best On Trend Shoe Award
Katherine Jenkins is wearing what is fast becoming the celebrity shoe of choice, the neon pink Alexander McQueen Heart peep-toe pumps.

I personally find this refreshing from the YSL Trib Two’s, which I’m quite frankly tired of seeing on the red carpet.

The singer wore a Azzedine Alaia figure-hugging LWD.

Most Charitable Award
Katy Perry’s bustier was designed by The Blonds to raise money for The Educational Foundation for the Fashion Industries. You can already bid for this Hello Kitty bustier with pink and silver chains, and black beads on Ebay.

Her gladiator heels and leggings are not for sale.

Worst Dressed Award
Colour-blocking is very on trend, but Katie White from the Ting Tings green, plus neon pink and yellow LF Markey Spring 2009 ensemble just hurts my eyes.

Worst Modification Award
Estelle shortened this Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2009 dress from the runway, and for me in the process ruined it.

The hem looks really awkward and messy.

From the look on her face, she not to happy with this look either.

Worst Hair & Make-Up
Alesha Dixon is such a pretty girl, but her blunt bangs cover up too much of her face. I also did not like her make-up, especially her bubblegum pink lipstick, which matched her heels.

Worst Black Award
Even with that unnecessary added piece of material, Natalie Imbruglia’s strapless black dress is very bland.

Worst Shoes Award
Why wear such a pretty dress, if you are just going to wear a pair of busted shoes?

Alexa Chung’s gorgeous harlequin dress is vintage, but she could have worn some Louboutin’s or Choo’s to match the vibrant nature of her sparkling dress.

Victoria Beckham Matchy Matchy Award
Amanda Holden is wearing waaayyyy to much purple for my liking.

A gold strappy sandal to compliment her embellished halter, would have broken up the matchy matchy look.

Worst Floral Award
Someone should remind Denise Lewis that this is the Brit Awards.

She is not going for afternoon tea with her granny.

Most Disappointing Award
Fearne Cotton is one to rely on during these types of events, but she really lets me down in this blazer and mini skirt combo. Not red carpet ready at all.
