Gabrielle Union In Maria Lucia Hohan - 2014 BET Awards

Gabrielle Union looked radiant on the red carpet of the 2014 BET Awards yesterday (June 29) held at Nokia Plaza L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles.

For the occasion, the actress wore a grecian-inspired Maria Lucia Hohan gown from the designer’s Fall 2014 collection, accented with thigh-high black boots.

I love the modern touch the sheer black paneling on the bodice give this gown, but I just can’t wrap my brain around the boots with this gown.

Gabrielle continued a barely there makeup trend we saw throughout the night, and her long, voluminous hair look youthful and fresh.

So, I have to hear: Do you get the boots with the dress, or are you just confused by it like me?

She also wore Pomellato Victoria Collection earrings and Sara Weinstock ‘Saddle’ ring with black diamonds.

Angela Simmons In Valery Kovalska - 2014 BET Awards

Angela Simmons attended the 2014 BET Awards yesterday (June 29) at the Nokia Plaza L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles.

The reality star and daughter of Rev Run wore a structured, leather-accented Valery Kovalska dress.

This is a very unique dress, and Angela pulls it off much better than it looked on the runway, as you really need a figure so as not to get lost in the heaviness of the fabric.

Smokey eyes, a pink lip, sleek hair and some fun but subtle nail art were fresh and pretty, and brought a lightness to the ensemble.

Michelle Williams In Olcay Gulsen - Olcay Gulsen

Michelle Williams struck a regal pose on the red carpet of the 2014 BET Awards at the Nokia Plaza L.A. LIVE last night (June 29) in Los Angeles.

The singer wore a teal Olcay Gulsen gown accented with gold Saint Laurent shoes and a simple Swarovski black and gold box clutch.

The color looks beautiful on Michelle’s skin, and she pulls off the silhouette beautifully.

I love the barely there makeup and long, sleek hair, but considering where the gown’s main focal point is, a low, sleek ponytail might have been a better option to show it off more.

Still, I love Michelle’s whole vibe. Do you agree?

Ashanti In Michael Costello - 2014 BET Awards

Ashanti hit the red carpet of the 2014 BET Awards last night (June 29) at the Nokia Plaza L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles.

The singer opted for a long-sleeved, white, lace-embellished Michael Costello gown and black and gold Tom Ford shoes.

The dress is beautiful, and right on trend, and while it looked flawless from the waist down on Ashanti’s hourglass figure, I just can’t get past the cut-outs on the top.

This type of cut-out really only works on someone small-busted, and Ashanti’s cleavage looks like it could escape at any moment.

Side-parted blonde waves and subtle but flawless makeup take an old Hollywood approach, which Ashanti would have nailed if it weren’t for the bosom situation.

2013 BET Awards Menswear Round Up

Fashionable (and fearless) femmes kept the red-carpet hot at the 2013 BET Awards, hosted last night at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in California. But, amid the sparkle and the skin, the guys brought their own brand of flash.

Pharrell Williams: The rapper didn’t blur any lines with his straight-laced style, cleaning up in a charcoal-grey Lanvin look that featured a shrunken blazer worn over a black-and-white chequerboard shirt and festooned with a perky bow tie. Yes, the rolled and tapered pant legs could have been better tailored, but with his cocky cool-kid shades, Pharrell could pull off almost anything.

Miguel: The best male R&B pop artist winner swooped onto the red carpet flaunting a trendster McQ Alexander McQueen monochromatic ensemble. His swallow-print McQ shirt was slightly Hitchcock-ian. But he tamed the chaotic birds by tucking them into skinny black jeans, all topped off with a quiff and studded lace-up shoes.

Justin Timberlake: JT took a sleek, all-black approach for his star-studded stage time with Pharrell and Snoop Dogg, as the song-and-dance man worked a textured Tom Ford suit and satin bow-tie paired with Christian Louboutin ‘New Orleans Flat’ black patent leather lace-up dress shoes.
