Uma Thurman In Chanel & Dolce & Gabbana - 'Nymphomaniac' Berlin Film Festival Photocall and Premiere

Uma Thurman attended the ‘Nymphomaniac’ photocall and premiere during the 64th Berlinale International Film Festival held at Berlinale Palast on Sunday (February 9) in Berlin, Germany.

The one person you can rely on to bring some glamour to any film festival is Uma Thurman, but I am totally underwhelmed on this occasion.

Photocall: The actress kept it simple and casual wearing a Chanel Fall 2013 black wool and cashmere knit pullover with black trousers and black boots. Only the hair and makeup excite me on this occasion.

Premiere: There was no razzle, no dazzle, no sweeping me off my feet; just a black Dolce & Gabbana column dress styled with a Carolina Herrera plum fur shrug, Manolo Blahnik black pumps and Chopard jewels.

Beautiful, yes, but lacking in the wow factor I expected from her.

Menswear Roundup

Here is a quick roundup of some gentlemen who took to the red carpet yesterday evening (February 6).

Joel Kinnaman: The actor joined his beautiful girlfriend Olivia Munn on the red carpet for the ‘RoboCop’ Stockholm premiere. After donning black for the London premiere, he delights wearing a rich burgundy-hued Ermenegildo Zegna two-button notched-lapel suit, keeping it tonal with a darker shirt and even darker tie. The look was styled once again with his Kurt Geiger London ‘Hornton’ shoes. Of the two looks, I much prefer this one, not only for the colour, but also this look feels a lot sharper.

Edward Norton: Also wearing Ermenegildo Zegna, the actor kept it classic in a navy two-button shawl-collar suit while attending ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ Berlinale premiere alongside Tilda Swinton, Lea Seydoux and Saoirse Ronan. As great as he looks, my eyes immediately go to his wife Shauna Robertson’s dramatic ombre strapless gown. He wore double monk shoes by Ermenegildo Zegna Couture.

Greta Gerwig In Lanvin - ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ Berlinale Film Festival Premiere

Greta Gerwig attended ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ premiere, which served as the opening ceremony of the 64th Berlinale International Film Festival held at Berlinale Palast on Thursday (February 6) in Berlin, Germany.

The actress, and jury member for this festival, wore a Lanvin Spring 2014 custom-made bronze liquid lamé tiered gown featuring black grosgrain detailing and a black woven belt with crystal paisley accents.

Usually, when I’m not sure about a dress, I say to myself ‘could Diane Kruger, Cate Blanchett or Tilda Swinton pull this off?’ If my answer is no, then I know I really don’t like it. That is sadly the case on this occasion.

Between the colour and the tiered detailing on the hips, this has to be my least favourite custom piece by the great Monsieur Alber Elbaz.

Tilda Swinton In Schiaparelli Couture - 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' Berlinale Film Festival PremiereThere was no missing Tilda Swinton at ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ premiere on Wednesday (February 6) during the 64th Berlinale Film Festival at the Berlinale Palast in Berlin, Germany.

After dialing down her look for the film’s photo call, the British star came out with fashion guns blazing in a Schiaparelli Spring 2014 Couture ensemble.

Slouchy yet still sharply tailored, the black suiting separates, white blouse and ruffles became nearly regal on Tilda’s statuesque frame, giving us sophistication and a slight daring edge—especially with that massive, door-knocker cocktail ring on her finger.

Naturally more mannish in appeal, as we are accustomed to seeing on Tilda, the entire look was really stripped straight from the runway, retaining even the quirky, feathered sandals and the hair and makeup styling.

While she didn’t take her blonde locks to the model’s colourful range of hues, she did have a similar slightly wild, barrel-curl ’do. And that bright red lip lacquer was fully intact, too.

Yay or nay?

Olivia Munn In Michael Kors - 'RoboCop' Stockholm PremiereOlivia Munn attended the Stockholm premiere of ‘Robocop,’ hosted at the Rigoletto in Sweden on Thursday (February 6).

The actress was back to embracing colour in her Michael Kors Spring 2014 halter gown with ruched detailing and a backless silhouette, removing the coat seen on the runway.

Between the frock’s grass-green hue and the white flower print, this was a sunny and fresh red-carpet entrance that had all the makings of low-key, easy glamour.

She completed the breezy appeal with a bronzed tan, pink lip and wavy locks.

Saoirse Ronan In Valentino -'The Grand Budapest Hotel' Berlinale Film Festival PremiereAfter attending ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ photo call, Saoirse Ronan took to the red carpet alongside Léa Seydoux for the film’s premiere on Wednesday (February 6) during the 64th Berlinale Film Festival at the Berlinale Palast in Berlin, Germany.

The actress found inspiration in the Valentino Spring 2014 collection, wearing a loosely silhouetted, emerald-green gown.

Leaving most of the theatrical styling to the runway, she did add the drama of the same studded headband atop her sleek, straight locks. While she accessorized with a gold cuff, that pendant choker necklace was nowhere in sight.

She also skipped sandals in favour of black peep-toe heels.

The colour of the dress was captivating here. But my wish is that it had been a bit more flattering and bit less tent-like.
