Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

mens 11 june
The guys have kept us guessing over the past few days, as they’ve switched up the standard red-carpet formula for a range of looks that ventured far beyond the standard black suit.

Chris Pratt: Joining Anna Faris and the other ladies at the ‘Jurassic World’ Los Angeles premiere held at the Dolby Theatre on Tuesday (June 9), the actor was ever so handsome in a dark slate-blue suit that nearly looked like brushed denim. I love that he heightened the impact of the suit with a graphic, chequered brown-and-white dress shirt and pocket square, completing the ensemble with a Chopard timepiece.

Terrence Howard: The ‘Empire’ actor was feeling blue in a three-piece suit, paired with black Louis Leeman loafers, at Spike TV’s Guy’s Choice Awards last Friday (June 6) at Sony Pictures Studios in California. The look would have resonated more strongly with the pop of a patterned tie as opposed to his satiny blue variety.

Joe Manganiello
: Also at the ‘Jurassic World’ premiere, Joe had at least three shades of grey to his name in a heather-gray suit, dove-gray shirt, and tie. Tan Christian Louboutin ‘Trepeter’ flats broke up the more monochromatic tones. I’m not sure that it’s always advisable to match a suit to a salt-and-pepper beard, though.

The New Z Zegna Hosted By Future

The New Z Zegna Hosted By Future

Ahead of New York Fashion Week, rapper Future hosted a Z Zegna pop-up space held at The Bowery on Tuesday (February 10) with Peter Facinelli and Joe Jonas in attendance.

I’m not always a fan of suits with sneakers, but both Future and the always-dapper Peter pull off their looks respectively without looking scruffy. I guess this is where the new Z Zegna man comes into play.

While the aforementioned gents worked patterns, and in Peter’s case colour, into their looks, Joe kept his simple, going for navy blue, which is always my preferred alternative to black.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Menswear 15 August

Gents have been scrubbing up nicely on the red carpet this week. Here is a quick roundup.

James Marsden: The actor was back and looking sharper than ever, attending the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Grants Banquet wearing a Z Zegna grey two-button notched-lapel suit styled with tan Givenchy laceups. I’m missing a tie thanks to the charming navy print pocket square.

Channing Tatum: The actor also opted for some shades of grey, donning a Gucci windowpane two-button notched-lapel suit styled with a white dress shirt and steel-grey tie, with black laceups rounding out his dapper look.

Robert Pattinson: Having disappointed many of you with his last look, it appears Rob made a conscious effort on this occasion, looking very handsome, in his usual slightly dishevelled way, donning a classic black Gucci suit. I love the shimmering black tie and the maroon laceups for two out-of-the-box touches.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Here is a roundup of all the guys who took to the red carpet for various events last weekend, including Comic-Con and the Young Hollywood Awards.

Douglas Booth: The handsome British actor wore a smart-casual Polo Ralph Lauren look consisting of a khaki linen sport jacket, mint-green chinos, and a simple white tee and pocket square. The contrasting pair of navy suede brogues don’t ruin the look, but some tan loafers would’ve been preferred here.

Ansel Elgort: Brown, auburn, cinnamon, mud… call Ansel’s Prada Uomo Fall 2014 two-button lapel suit whatever colour you like. I am only getting through this by focusing on the tie. He can do so much better.

Eddie Redmayne: The always impeccably dressed actor wore a micro-checked blue and white suit with navy accents, including slippers which I would’ve swapped out for those nice navy Alexander McQueen loafers he wore during awards season.

Menswear Roundup

Here is a quick menswear roundup.

Matthew McConaughey: The actor is still on a hot streak from awards season as he picked up Best Actor in a Drama Series for ‘True Detective’ at the Critics’ Choice Television Awards. Keeping it simple and classic, the actor wore an Ermenegildo Zegna Couture burgundy herringbone, two-button, notch-lapel suit with a bow tie. His double monk-strap shoes don’t hide the fact that his trousers are just a tad too long.

Mark Wahlberg: The actor joined Li Bingbing and Nicola Peltz on the red carpet for the ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’ Hong Kong premiere wearing an Armani suit. I love the light grey colour with the lighter blue tie, but the fit is way off for me. It feels at least a size too big.

Josh Dallas: The ‘Once Upon A Time’ actor joined Matthew at the Critics’ Choice Awards yesterday evening. Keeping it all black and not opting for a tie, the actor wore a Z Zegna shawl-collar suit with a grosgrain lapel and buttoned-up shirt.
