Victoria Beckham Presents Her Spring 2014 Collections

VB Spring 2014

Victoria Beckham invited digital journalists to have a private viewing of her Spring 2014 Victoria Beckham and Victoria, Victoria Beckham collections, which was hosted at the British Embassy in Paris, France on Friday.

Vogue.co.uk, WWD, Susie Bubble, Rumi from Fashion Toast and myself were just a few of those invited. It was almost like getting the golden ticket to Willy Wonka’s factory.

The collections, including the commercial pieces, were displayed around two rooms in the luxurious venue, which we browsed prior to Victoria’s arrival while drinks and canapés were served.

When the lady of the hour arrived I suddenly became really nervous, which is common around celebs, but I need not have been so shy because, despite what you may believe, Victoria is very approachable and engaging and was genuinely interested in our publications; her passion and excitement for fashion was very evident.

The first question I asked her was about the Victoria, Victoria Beckham Spring 2014 dress which received such mixed comments from you guys, and she said that the lavender silk-cloque dress – which was developed in-house – was her favourite from that collection. After not having much sleep following the show and a round of press appointments, she loved how comfortable the dress felt.

On her Victoria, Victoria Beckham Spring 2014 dress: “It is something very different for me. I was excited to wear it, turned up to work, didn’t really think much about it, should have paid a bit more attention and done my hair, but I didn’t. It’s great to wear fitted clothes, but it’s not all about fitted clothes. I felt very sexy wearing that dress and it was really quite big. I like how it feels quite romantic; I felt very free”.

On the Victoria Beckham woman, and who wears her dresses: “I love women. We really need to support each other and stick together. I went to a wedding in LA the other day and three women were wearing my dresses and that is very exciting. I love how women feel sexy, beautiful, empowered. Of course it is exciting to see celebrities on the red carpet but any women are great. The fact that they have chosen to wear me is a big deal. I am not complacent about it”.

On her online presence: “I can reach my customers quicker (reference to Twitter). My website is doing phenomenally well. What I love about that is that I do a lot of the filming myself and create a lot of the content myself and people can see the brand through my eyes. I am about to start selling ready-to-wear online as well. I didn’t want to do it right at the beginning because I really wanted to understand my customer before I could make my edit of ready-to-wear with all the other collections”.

On the pressures of designing: “I’m not trying to compete with anyone else out there; I’m just trying to compete with myself from the season before. I feel really content, proud, happy and fired up and ready to go for my next collection”.

On her next steps: “I landed back on Friday after the show; my kids were at school, so I went to the studio and started working on the pre-collection. For me, I have a lot of big dreams; there is a lot I still want to do and I’m very hands on with every element of my business, and I want to do more at the right time and not rush anything, take baby steps to create something which hopefully will be around for a long time, and to create something very important fashion-wise. It’s not just about selling loads of clothes, which the collection happens to be selling phenomenally well; I want to be relevant every season fashion-wise, not just clothes: the hair, the makeup, the venue”.

On expanding her collection to shoes: “I would love to, when the time is right. But at the moment I have my hands full with the collections, which are growing so quickly sell-through is phenomenal. We are adding new retail partners each season. I’ve just started doing pre-collection as well, which has doubled the workload, so when the time is right, for sure”.

Toni Braxton In Victoria Beckham - 'A Conversation with Toni Braxton and Kenny 'Babyface' Edmonds'

‘A Conversation with Toni Braxton and Kenny ‘Babyface’ Edmonds’ was hosted yesterday at The Recording Academy in Los Angeles, California.

Toni wore a sexy Victoria Beckham Spring 2013 dress with an elegant, uncomplicated and modern silhouette.

The form-fitting black wool-crepe dress featuring a soft jersey-lined bra beneath the sheer tulle top was styled with pointy black Louboutin pumps and a silver ring.

Like Halle Berry and Kelly Rowland, short hair works so much better on her.

An Evening To Celebrate The Global Fund

An Evening To Celebrate The Global Fund

Many other fashionistas joined the Beckhams at Apsley House in London yesterday evening for the celebration of the Global Fund’s first Green Carpet Challenge.

Jemma Kidd: The makeup artist/fashion model wore an Antonio Berardi Resort 2014 blue-black-and-white geometric-print dress styled with Roger Vivier pumps and a black clutch. For me there is a huge disconnect between the dress and the shoes. A sexy pair of Manolos or edgy footwear by Casadei or Kirkwood would’ve been more complementary.

Sienna Miller: After taking her front-row seat as brand ambassador at the Burberry Prorsum Spring 2014 show, the actress wore a Dolce & Gabbana dress featuring the brand’s hallmarks: floral and lace. Having seen this dress in various guises on the red carpet before, it’s a little hard to get that excited about it, especially when she styled it with flats.

Jodi Kidd: Joining her sister at the event, the former race car driver who has recently returned to modelling wore an Preen navy-and-neon-yellow floral dress styled with sexy lace Jimmy Choos, bracelets and a black clutch. Thankfully, her shoe game is better than her sister’s. You may remember that fellow model Helena Christensen wore the same dress earlier this year.

Victoria Beckham In Victoria Beckham - An Evening To Celebrate The Global Fund

After attending separate events on Sunday evening, the Beckhams stepped out last night to celebrate The Global Fund’s first Green Carpet Challenge at Apsley House in London.

Modifying her signature pose just enough to take hubby David Beckham’s hand, the designer was of course decked out in her own threads, wearing an all-black look featuring a split-sleeve boyfriend blazer adorned with a gleaming satin lapel which she styled with a silk top, black slim-fit pants and Manolo Blahnik pumps.

You may remember that Carey Mulligan wore this blazer during her ‘The Great Gatsby’ promo tour.

David couldn’t look more handsome, opting for a classic Burberry Tailoring suit.

This picture takes me back to their early Posh and Becks days when they used to wear matching looks.

Victoria Beckham In Victoria Beckham – Vogue London Fashion Week Dinner Party

Victoria Beckham In Victoria Beckham - Vogue UK London Fashion Week Dinner Party

Fresh off the plane from New York following another successful season showing in the Big Apple, Victoria Beckham was in London yesterday evening attending a dinner party hosted by Vogue UK at Balthazar.

The designer gave us second look at her Spring 2014 collection, wearing black, calf-length culottes with a white shirt, black roll-neck cropped jumper and pointed Manolo Blahnik heels.

Victoria appears to have taken quite a liking to these culottes having worn them to take her bow following her show last week.

Signature pose aside, how do you feel about this boyish outing from VB?

NYFW Spring 2014 Red Carpet Wish List Part II

NYFW1

Alexander Wang: Zoe Kravitz is a huge fan of Alexander Wang, so the question when looking at the collection was ‘What would Zoe wear?’ My choices were somewhat limited due to the amount of colour on display as Zoe loves to wear black, so I settled on this black strappy dress with a flared skirt. I hope she proves me wrong and selects something other than black from this collection.

Altuzarra: Allison Williams is always a goodie two-shoes on the red carpet. I would love to see her in this sexy, slightly undone look to spice up her red carpet game.

Sonam Kapoor In Victoria Beckham – ’24’ Mumbai Launch

Sonam Kapoor In Victoria Beckham - '24' Mumbai Launch2

Sonam Kapoor supported her papa, Anil Kapoor, at the launch of the Indian version of the hit TV series ’24’ in Mumbai, India yesterday afternoon.

Dressed in a military-inspired Victoria Beckham Fall 2012 dress, the actress styled the look with black lace-up booties that were perfect for the regimented look, which included slicked-back hair.

Feminine touches lightened the look, with a black clutch and gold jewels complementing the military button detailing on her dress.

As this was the launch of a cop drama, the military theme was an interesting choice; however, I am missing the belt the dress was styled with on the runway.

Who Wore Victoria Beckham Better…Blanca Suarez or Rosamund Pike?

Who Wore Victoria Beckham Better Blanca Suarez or Rosamund Pike

Back in March, Blanca Suarez attended the ‘Los Amantes Pasajeros’ photocall wearing a Victoria Beckham Spring 2013 white sleeveless dress, which was a less sporty version of a similar dress which took to the runway.

With her hair teased into a half-up, half-down style, she completed her look with heavy pewter pumps and a cocktail ring.

Rosamund Pike had a lot more fun with the dress when she wore it last month to the London premiere of ‘The World’s End’, adding a hot-pink bra and neon-pink-and-blush Elie Saab sandals.

Rosamund wins for me on shoe choice alone, plus the overall feeling she gives to the look is more vibrant.
