Shailene Woodley In Proenza Schouler – ‘The Spectacular Now’ LA Screening

Shailene Woodley In Proenza Schouler - 'The Spectacular Now' LA Screening

Shailene Woodley isn’t considered by many of you as one of fashion’s it girls and she appears to be both happy and comfortable with that, however she made a greater effort while attending the LA special screening of ‘The Spectacular Now’ held at the Vista Theatre in California last night.

The young actress wore a Proenza Schouler Resort 2014 black ensemble which consisted of a turtleneck crop top and draped calf-length skirt.

Taking inspiration from the lookbook, she added an ethnic statement necklace by H.O.W.L to decorate what may have been a sombre look without the jewelled piece.

A simple ponytail and Proenza Schouler black double-buckle shoes completed her look.

Is this much improved over her last outing, or are you still not impressed?

On this occasion, the Miss Dior girl found inspiration in another label with this Proenza Schouler Resort 2014 monochromatic ensemble featuring a zebra-inspired, zigzag crop tee and white asymmetrical, A-line skirt that was more apron-like than A-plus.

This outing may have been more successful than her other recent cropped entrance—at least from the waist up—but it still didn’t connect all the dots.

The Nicholas Kirkwood slingback ankle boots really prompted some sole-searching for a more appropriate pair. Black lace booties were an unusual counterpoint to this sportier PS ensemble and even had me wishing for black pumps—for a split second.

A braided updo, perhaps inspired by Katniss Everdeen, and bronzed makeup finished the look.

Felicity Jones In Proenza Schouler – ‘Breathe In’ Edinburgh Film Festival Opening Gala Screening

Felicity Jones In Proenza Schouler - ‘Breathe In’ Edinburgh Film Festival Opening Gala Screening

Felicity Jones attended the opening night gala screening of ‘Breathe In’ during the Edinburgh Film Festival yesterday evening.

The British actress wore a Proenza Schouler Pre-Fall 2013 black-trimmed boucle-jacquard dress with a square-cut neckline, which is feminine yet fashion forward.

She chose to keep the styling minimal, opting for a leather belt and patent-leather pumps, and with just a hint of pink applied to her lips, she completed her look with kohl-rimmed eyes and sleek straight raven locks.

You may remember that Miranda Kerr wore this same dress to the CFDA Fashion Awards earlier this month and Freida Pinto wore the volcanic version of this same dress earlier this year.

Proenza Schouler Cocktail Party Hosted by Barneys New York

Proenza Schouler Cocktail Party Hosted by Barneys New York

Barneys New York hosted a dinner party to toast designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler in Los Angeles, California on Thursday evening, inviting along some of their favourite red carpet gals to celebrate the launch of their ‘First Collection’ capsule available exclusively at Barneys New York and Barneys.com.

Kate Bosworth: Often one of the first to get her hands on the latest Proenza Schouler collection, whether it be the clothing or accessories, the actress sported a ecru printed tulle tweed short-sleeved dress from the designers’ Fall 2013 collection, which she styled with a black lizard Proenza Schouler ‘Lunch’ bag and Aldo ‘Romelia’ pumps. Is it me or does this dress appear to be a size too big? Or maybe it just needed a waist-defining belt.

Kirsten Dunst: The actress – who was the first person to bring the Proenza Schouler Fall 2013 collection to the red carpet – is the first to bring the designers’ Resort 2014 collection to the red carpet, wearing a black satin back crepe top and black viscose shorts with black Proenza Schouler pumps, adding a hot-red lip colour.

Rashida Jones: The ‘Parks and Recreation’ actress amped up her Proenza Schouler black ostrich printed georgette dress with a beautiful ethnic statement necklace. Like Kirsten, she opted for a bright lip colour and black Proenza Schouler python printed pumps from the Fall 2013 collection.

You may be surprised to learn that Kirsten is my favourite here.

Models @ 2013 CFDA Fashion Awards

Models @ 2013 CFDA Fashion Awards

Some of our favourite cat-walkers were among the mix of style royalty at the 2013 CFDA Fashion Awards at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall in New York City. The models definitely had their moment last night, strutting out a slew of bold-name designers and even bolder looks to match.

Adriana Lima: Donning a leggy and luxe Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy Fall 2013 confection, this Brazilian beauty did justice to the edgy designer—who was the CFDA International Award Winner—even with black bloomers peeking through the gown. A center-parted ‘do and glowing makeup finished the look. Fellow model Joan Smalls rocked a similar Givenchy sheer design at the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala. Who do you think wore it best?

Miranda Kerr: This model mom made waves with a retro-modern frock by Proenza Schouler. The square neckline and fit-and-flare shape were nothing if not fun and provided the perfect palette for the trippy, painterly cerulean and verdigris hues. More sophistication came with a classic pair of black, triple ankle-wrap Stuart Weitzman heels, Jennifer Meyer jewels and a silver Stuart Weitzman clutch, along with a fuchsia lippie and low bun.

Joan Smalls: The lovely Latina wore a breezy white, strapless Givenchy gown. The matte white panel on the bottom created a sort of casual, sundress feel. But upon closer inspection, it was anything but beach-y with a corseted bodice and sheer lace-embellished skirt. The glittering choker-necklace added a daring, darker note.

Met Gala 2013 Roundup

Met Gala 2013

Here is a roundup of the rest of the ladies who took to the red carpet for the 2013 Met Gala on Monday evening. Models @ The Met post will follow.

Brooklyn Decker: The actress wore a custom Peter Pilotto look inspired by the Spring 2013 collection. While the look is custom I feel like I have seen this look several times before, so there is nothing fresh or new about it, unlike other custom looks as showcased by Karolina Kurkova and several others. Her Sergio Rossi ‘Hypnos’ sandals, however, are a work of art.

Alicia Keys: The singer took to the red carpet wearing a custom Jason Wu gown. Her black leather and bordeaux sequin embroidered halter gown is beautiful, but I wish Alicia had pushed the punk vibe with the styling a bit more; the red streaks in her hair aren’t enough for me, especially when we know Alicia isn’t afraid of taking a fashion risk. Robert Lee Morris jewels and a vintage clutch completed her look.

Maggie Gyllenhaal: The actress wore a beautiful custom Calvin Klein scarlet gown for the occasion which was punked up as far as she would go with a studded choker and a Tod’s black studded clutch with a gold frame. While I do love this look, I wish Maggie had gone bra shopping before this event.
