Red Carpet Fashion Awards

On my VirginMedia TiVo box I currently have approximately 15 unwatched episodes of ‘Downtown Abbey’ I need to catch up on (I’m waiting for a quiet weekend), so I will do the same with Michelle Dockery’s style, as I am yet to feature her.

Starting with the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation’s 2012 Emmy Awards Reception, the British actress wore a Stella McCartney floral dress, which is very Erdem-esque.

Black accessories would’ve been an easy option, but she opted to style the look with a Be&D ‘Kumamoto’ beige clutch and nude Christian Louboutin pumps.

Joining a whole host of stars on the red carpet at the Variety And Women In Film Pre-Emmy Event on Friday, Michelle opted for an Erdem ‘Ariel’ dress from the Fall 2012 collection.

The pink-and-black lace dress is the epitome of sophisticated uptown refinement.

Black pumps and a black-embroidered velvet clutch completed this look.

On Saturday she attended the BAFTA Los Angeles TV Tea 2012 presented by BBC America in West Hollywood wearing a Nina Ricci silk crepe printed and embroidered tulle dress from the Resort 2013 collection.

I adore the styling with the retro updo, the cream Be&D clutch, contrasting orange leather pumps and coral lip shade.

Sadly, things grinded to a screaming halt on Sunday evening at the 2012 Emmy Awards.

I don’t like anything about her custom Louis Vuitton bustier satin gown with an organza yoke which was styled with a gold Jimmy Choo ‘Cameo’ clutch.

In fact I am surprised this is custom-made as the fit is terrible, starting from the bodice and ending with the awkward length. The back peplum is also unflattering and don’t get me started on those creases.

Olga Kurylenko was spotted at the Lancia Cafe during day 5 of the 2012 Venice Film Festival in Italy looking as lovely as ever.

The Ukrainian actress wore a Nina Ricci Resort 2013 rich burgundy lace dress.

Her short-sleeve dress with an additional lining was styled with a leather contrasting belt and taupe ankle-strap pumps.

It’s great to see Olga back on the red carpet; she hasn’t lost any of her charm from her time promoting ‘Quantum of Solace’.

On Saturday evening, Rachel Weisz was a vision in white as she took to the red carpet in France for the Deauville American Film Festival premiere for ‘The Bourne Legacy’.

The actress looked radiant wearing a Nina Ricci Resort 2013 dress.

Her ivory sleeveless silk chiffon gown with sheer yoke featured many tiered layers.

While the look is not to my personal taste, I will say she does look beautiful, but I find myself bothered by the dark lip colour with this summery dress.

As we know, many celebs have embraced this dark lip fall trend several months too early.

The success rate has been high, but it doesn’t work for me on this occasion.

Bulgari jewels and sleek straight tresses completed her look.

Yea or nay on the lip colour?

After sporting a mix of mini dresses and pants the last few shows for Solo Moda, Nieves Alvarez opted for all above the knee looks for show seven on Saturday.

The supermodel starts off with look by Spanish designer, David Delfin.

Her Fall 2012 fitted white pencil dress with black waist-slimming panels was accented with a thin tan belt to match the high neckline.

Roger Viver yellow pumps added an additional pop of colour to her tri-colour dress.

Look two is our second look at a Spanish star in Burberry Prorsum’s Fall 2012 collection within the last week.

Unlike Nerea Garmandia, Nieves teamed her owl motif tee with the same pencil skirt with the cascading ruffle we saw on the runway.

I didn’t like the look on Nerea, and I’m not crazy about the look from the waist up on Nieves.

Maybe I’m just too used to seeing her in glamorous dresses to appreciate this more laid back ensemble.

Leopard print Roger Vivier pumps and an olive green bow front waistband completed her look.

Nieves’ final look was my favourite of the night. Her pretty pink Nina Ricci Spring 2012 mini dress was styled with Zuhair Murad Spring 2012 navy sandals and a stunning Yanes beaded necklace.

Which was your favourite?

Kylie Minogue hasn’t let the damp British summer get her down, as she was spotted around Bond Street in London treating herself to some much-needed retail therapy.

The Australian singer opted for a casual look with some chic black accessories.

Clad in a lace pink Dolce & Gabbana jacket and fitted black pants, Kylie added some patent black Louboutins and the Nina Ricci ‘La Rue’ bag to her look.

This is our first celebrity sighting of the coveted bag from the Fall 2012 collection.

The ‘La Rue’, which will be available from late August, comes in three sizes in calfskin, python and limited edition crocodile.
