Giorgio Armani - One Night Only NYC

Stylishly clad stars collided at Giorgio Armani – One Night Only New York, held yesterday at SuperPier in New York City, with many, of course, trotting out mainly monochromatic looks from the event’s namesake designer.

Renee Zellweger: The actress skipped the skirt and suited up in a black, bow-accented blazer and loose trousers. Her minimal styling and barely-there makeup contributed to the more mannish aesthetic.

Hilary Swank: Also wearing the pants to the party, Hilary took a more dramatic approach with her slim-line pair worn with a glittery, nipped-in blazer top, further vamping up the look with strappy sandals, a smokey eye and loose waves.

Naomi Watts: Playing with proportion, the ‘Diana’ actress pulled off a silken, charcoal-grey top with billowy sleeves paired with a loose, floor-scraping black skirt. There was a lot of fabric to be had here, but there was still an effortless elegance with her swept-back locks and gemstone Monique Péan earrings.

This week, the red carpets have been trod by a haute flurry of fashionable females. But a handsomely clad group of guys has also been on the scene.

Chris Hemsworth: The actor-stud showed up to the ‘Thor: The Dark World’ world premiere at Odeon Leicester Square in London on Tuesday. He paired his steely, baby blues with a richly hued, dark eggplant Dolce & Gabbana three-piece suit that certainly caught my eye.

Jared Leto: Taking a slightly more conservative turn, the entertainer was polished in an all-black Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane ensemble at the 17th annual Hollywood Film Awards at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in California on Monday. His unbuttoned, tie-less shirt and the flash of his silk, sky-blue pocket square added the touch of attitude we’ve come to expect from Jared.

Idris Elba: Joining Chris at ‘Thor: The Dark World’ world premiere, Idris rocked the Burberry threads with one of the brand’s slim-fit cashmere coats taking top billing. Statement loafers finished out his casual-cool look.

Menswear Round Up

All eyes have been on the femmes and the fashion shows lately, what with Spring 2014 runway presentations in full bloom. But there is a handful of guys that managed to steal a stare away from all that catwalk action.

Chris Hemsworth: Gracing Italy with his handsomeness, the actor attended the ‘Rush The Movie’ premiere in Rome last weekend at the Auditorium della Conciliazione. His navy Giorgio Armani suit, paired with a lighter-blue button-down shirt and slate-blue tie, really highlighted his own baby blues.

David Gandy: The hot British model brought his intense, steely stare to the ‘Harper’s Bazaar’ London Fashion Week closing party at Annabel’s in England on Tuesday. He had his own shades of grey moment in a Dolce & Gabbana three-piece suit, with a charcoal sport coat, matching tie and a black vest and trousers. The flash of a triangle pocket square accessorized the suave statement, whilst mahogany loafers provided the finishing contrast.

Hugh Jackman: The buff ‘X-Men’ star skipped the tie for his visit to the SiriusXM Studios in New York City yesterday. He was singing the blues in a tailored Louis Vuitton denim-look suit worn over a midnight-blue shirt. Do you like his more relaxed approach?

10th Annual Style Awards - Show - Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week 2014

Nicole Richie wore several different looks while hosting the 2013 Style Awards last night following her Antonio Berardi red carpet look which kick-started proceedings.

One of my favourites was a beaded collared silver Giorgio Armani Fall 2013 jumpsuit with a keyhole front detail and gathered waist styled with barely seen black pumps.

A second look saw her sporting a long ponytail wearing a sexy Azzaro Resort 2014 orange gown with a ruched detailing at the front and gold straps.

The third look was a Marc Jacobs Resort 2014 black-and-gold striped sequin dress which you may remember that Sarah Jessica Parker wore back in June.

Her final look was a long-sleeved Etro Fall 2011 frock with an ethnic print accented with a gold collar, which she styled with leopard-print heels.

I find myself very intrigued by the complexity of the final look, and wishing to see the footwear worn with the Marc Jacobs dress, but overall the Berardi was still my favourite.

Which look catches your eye?

GQ 1

Excluding Eddie Redmayne, the GQ Men Of The Year Awards held at The Royal Opera House in London yesterday evening was awash with handsome men in dark suits.

Justin Timberlake (in Tom Ford) and Pharrell Williams (in Lanvin) both opted for textured suits with bow ties jazzing up the traditional tux, while David Gandy kept it simple and classic in his Henry Poole & Co. bespoke three-piece suit.
