Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Menswear 24 oct

This week, the red carpets have been trod by a haute flurry of fashionable females. But a handsomely clad group of guys has also been on the scene.

Chris Hemsworth: The actor-stud showed up to the ‘Thor: The Dark World’ world premiere at Odeon Leicester Square in London on Tuesday. He paired his steely, baby blues with a richly hued, dark eggplant Dolce & Gabbana three-piece suit that certainly caught my eye.

Jared Leto: Taking a slightly more conservative turn, the entertainer was polished in an all-black Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane ensemble at the 17th annual Hollywood Film Awards at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in California on Monday. His unbuttoned, tie-less shirt and the flash of his silk, sky-blue pocket square added the touch of attitude we’ve come to expect from Jared.

Idris Elba: Joining Chris at ‘Thor: The Dark World’ world premiere, Idris rocked the Burberry threads with one of the brand’s slim-fit cashmere coats taking top billing. Statement loafers finished out his casual-cool look.

Andy Murray In Buberry Tailoring & Kim Sears In Matthew Williamson – Investiture Ceremony

Kim Sears In Matthew Williamson - Investiture Ceremony

Wimbledon champion Andy Murray was all smiles today as he arrived at Buckingham Palace with girlfriend Kim Sears and his parents Willie and Judy, to be presented with an OBE (Order of the British Empire).

The tennis star was receiving the honour from the Duke of Cambridge, who was hosting his first investiture ceremony.

Andy wore a grey two-button notched lapel Burberry Tailoring suit with a striped tie, while Kim continued to show her support for British designers by wearing a Matthew Williamson Pre-Fall 2013 frock featuring bold chevron stripes laced with embroidery which make up much of the silhouette; sitting in panels that contoured and accentuated her figure.

While the majority of her accessories were black, she completed her look with a maroon fascinator with a black floral accent.

You may remember that Nina Dobrev wore this same dress in an orange hue.

2013 Emmy Awards Menswear Roundup

Emmy Men 1

Enough about the girls at the 2013 Primetime Emmy Awards; the boys brought out their own brand of style for Sunday’s star-studded night at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California.

Zachary Quinto: The ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ star suited up in a dark Givenchy ensemble, wearing his black-on-black piped tux with a charcoal tie and pocket square—and a suave stare.

Derek Hough: The ‘Dancing With The Stars’ pro and an Emmy winner for Outstanding Choreography accepted his trophy in style in a classic black tuxedo and bow tie. The dancing shoes were exchanged for classic black loafers on this occasion.

Bobby Cannavale: The ‘Boardwalk Empire’ actor accompanied his date, Rose Byrne, in complementary style with a classic, fitted Calvin Klein Fall 2013 black matte wool one-button peak lapel tuxedo with black satin lapels, paired with a white dress shirt and black tie—which also served him well on stage when he accepted his Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor.

Best Dressed Of The Week – Blake Lively In Gucci, David Gandy In Dolce & Gabbana and David Beckham In Burberry Tailoring

BDOTW

Blake Lively was the overall winner for best dressed this week; she looked outstanding with a grownup sexy attitude, wearing a Gucci Resort 2014 leather dress with impeccable styling and a dark-blonde ‘do.

When it came to the fellas your pick was the handsome Dandy Gandy in his three-piece Dolce & Gabbana suit. The smouldering eyes, the handsome good looks, the suit: whatever your reason for voting for him, he deserved the win.

I, on the other hand, picked David Beckham in his classic Burberry Tailoring suit. You need not ask why.

GQ 1

Excluding Eddie Redmayne, the GQ Men Of The Year Awards held at The Royal Opera House in London yesterday evening was awash with handsome men in dark suits.

Justin Timberlake (in Tom Ford) and Pharrell Williams (in Lanvin) both opted for textured suits with bow ties jazzing up the traditional tux, while David Gandy kept it simple and classic in his Henry Poole & Co. bespoke three-piece suit.
