Sarah Jessica Parker In Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda – 2018 Met Gala

Sarah Jessica Parker is one I always look forward to seeing at the Met Gala, as she so unabashedly dresses to theme. And, she didn’t disappoint for her 2018 showing on Monday (May 7) in New York City.

As per, there was an air of outright thematic extravagance in her sweeping Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda gold filigree, heart-embellished gown.

But, despite the intricate embroidery, the ruffled sleeves, and the long cape-like train, I would say it was the fascinator balancing atop her head that really took the cake and stole the show.

The intricate nativity-scene headdress was a work of art in and of itself, adding to the unapologetically costume-fueled drama of her entrance.

Sarah Jessica Parker’s Best Met Gala Fashion Looks Of All Time

When it comes to the Met Gala, there is NO ONE more committed to the theme than Sarah Jessica Parker, which is why her absence was so notable last year.

She loves drama, a Philip Treacy headpiece and most of all, she loves to have fun with it.

Below is a look at all of SJP’s fashion moments from the gala. Rate your favourite.

1995 – Freshman Year
Theme: Haute Couture

SJP attended her first Met Gala back in 1995. The theme was Haute Couture, the dress was simple black velvet. It’s almost hard to believe the SJP we all now know and love would ever play it this safe. It would be 10 years later before she would be invited to the Met Gala again.

2018 Tribeca Film Festival Women Filmmakers Luncheon

The Chanel Tribeca Film Festival Women Filmmakers Luncheon was held on Friday (April 20) in New York City, with two leading ladies in attendance.

Sarah Jessica Parker: As the event was in partnership with Chanel, I wasn’t surprised to see SJP wearing a Chanel jacket and cross-body bag. I love how she injected the iconic tweed piece with a certain boho-meets-uptown spirit in the bell-sleeve blouse, skinny denim and pointy pumps.

Zosia Mamet: Also opting for a jacket and jeans approach, Zosia donned a Chanel Pre-Fall 2018 navy and grey wool drill jacket with obvious military influences. So, I was glad to see her distressed jeans lightening the stricter mood with Chanel Fine Jewelry, Chanel shoes, and a Chanel bag to complete the look that was a successfully put-together one for Zosia.

Sarah Jessica Parker In Dolce & Gabbana – ‘Blue Night’ Tribeca Film Festival Premiere

Sarah Jessica Parker was back on the red carpet at the ‘Blue Night’ Tribeca Film Festival premiere on Thursday (April 19).

The last time the actress wore Dolce & Gabbana, it was an arresting statement with a glistening sequin gold dress, jewels, headpiece and cape.

For her latest outing, the outfit is much more refined.

That’s not to say that it’s boring as the style had a modern medieval feel with the velvet fabric and flared sleeves.

The grommet and cord trim is what truly makes it, enhancing her shape with the tone-on-tone design.

Gold sandals added some metallic shine.

Sarah Jessica Parker In Dolce & Gabbana – Dolce & Gabbana Alta Gioielleria

Sarah Jessica Parker hosted the charity auction during the Gala dinner following Dolce & Gabbana’s first-ever debut of couture in the US, which took place within the historic Astor Hall in the grand marble landmark building of the New York Public Library on Friday (April 6).

SJP loves to dress up, so she was in her element at this event.

This was Met Gala SJP; doing the absolute most and I’m living for it.

I’m sure many would’ve stopped at the glistening sequin gold dress, but Carrie, I mean SJP added yet more drama with the cape, jewels, turban and embellished heels.

Yes. I have been guilty of accusing the SJP over accessorizing on occasion. But her more is more approach couldn’t have been a more appropriate way to dress for this event.

Later in the night, Parker auctioned off her full ensemble for charity. The dress sold for $280,000.

OTT or just right?
