7th Biennial UNICEF Ball

A trio of ladies turned out for the 7th Biennial UNICEF Ball was held on Saturday (April 14) in Beverly Hills, California.

Alyssa Milano: While I do think the actress introduced an element of glamour with her all-over sequined Landero gown and classic-red lip, I was missing a bit more definition through the waistline to further enhance the proportions of the dress.

Salma Hayek: The royal-purple hue of this Gucci gown was beguiling, with the belt enhancing the ruched waistline. However, the dress may have suffered in execution across the bust line with her bra situation—and I do wish her hair was worn off her shoulders to further celebrate the embellishment.

Molly Sims: Literally bringing the star power to the evening, the model-actress sparkled in a Rani Zakhem Fall 2017 Couture gown. While the star motif may have been a bit trite, my bigger issue with the look was that the sheer sleeves seemed a bit too droopy and I was left wishing for a sleeker finish.

Salma Hayek In Gucci – 2018 Oscars

There was no missing Salma Hayek at the 2018 Oscars on Sunday (March 4) in Hollywood, where she joined Helen Mirren, Mira Sorvino and Kelly Marie Tran.

The Mexican beauty shimmered in a high-octane Gucci gown that was dripping with embellishment.

Gucci is known for its maximalist, mix-and-match aesthetic. This pastel style presents a more unified finish because of the shine theme, but the combination of the pink paillettes and draped rhinestones across the chest is unexpected and nods to the eclecticism of the brand.

Harry Winston jewels added even more sparkle.

Was this a hit or a miss for you?

2018 Film Independent Spirit Awards Red Carpet Roundup

There were plenty more stars who took to the red carpet for the 2018 Film Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday (March 3) in Santa Monica, California, joining Danai Gurira, Kerry Washington and Margot Robbie.

Saoirse Ronan: This Prada lime jacquard shift dress with multi-colour paillettes was perfectly suited to the fun, relaxed nature of the event. Matching Prada sandals and Piaget jewels completed the look.

Dree Hemingway: Also in Prada, I love the luxu boho vibe of her white and red dotted chiffon cap sleeve gown.

Allison Janney:
Bringing some high-glamour to the beach-side event, the ‘I, Tonya’ star looked breath-taking wearing a fuchsia Pamella Roland cut-out gown which perfectly showcased her gorgeous figure. Her matching sandals and emerald jewels couldn’t have been a more perfect fit.

2018 BAFTA Awards Red Carpet Roundup

Black gowns dominated the 2018 BAFTAs on Sunday (February 18) at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England, but the red carpet was by no means boring with celebrities showing their support for the Time’s Up movement in a wide array of striking looks.

Letitia Wright: Showing a darker side of Gucci, the ‘Black Panther’ actress, who was one of the presenters on the night, looks charming in a belted dress. The bug-like embroidery perks up the black velvet base. Some have remarked how the brands looks sometimes suffer from too many details, but this one has the balance right.

Sally Hawkins: The Best Actress in a Leading Role nominee for ‘The Shape of Water’, shone in a Ralph & Russo gown. This is a more sensual look for her with the slashes in the bodice revealing a coquettish hint of skin. I wish she played into the theme more with romantic wavy hair.

Anya Taylor-Joy: Last year’s Rising Star Award nominee embraced the sexy glamour of Dolce & Gabbana in a black lace dress and golden crown. I can already hear the chants of people wishing the skirt was lined, and I must agree.

EE British Academy Film Awards Nominees Party Red Carpet Roundup

There was no shortage of exciting looks at the EE British Academy Film Awards nominees party at Kensington Palace on Saturday (February 17) in London, England.

Karen Gillan: The ‘Doctor Who’ actress shimmered in a Temperley London gown. Despite the all-black colour palette, this feels like a few different dresses in one look. It’s too bad that the tulle skirt gives the appearance of weighing down the top part.

Allison Janney: The Best Actress in a Supporting Role nominee ditched the gown in favour of an August Getty trench dress. The gray number had a marvelous lengthening effect which showcased her statuesque beauty. It was beautifully cut and as sophisticated as any dress. If I must find fault, I wish the sleeves were shortened to eliminate the bunching. Nine West shoes, a Judith Leiber clutch and Maxior tourmeline earrings added more pizzazz.

Kristin Scott Thomas: Another Best Actress in a Supporting Role nominee, the beauty turned heads in a Valentino dress. The dragon-inspired design nods to Chinese New Year and projects a joyful opulence. The style hails from the same Pre-Fall 2018 collection as Greta Gerwig’s gown.
