Anglo-French singer, actress and model Charlotte Gainsbourg discusses why her career and controversy go hand in hand in The EDIT, Net-A-Porter.com’s weekly fashion glossy.

Daughter to one of fashion and music’s most celebrated couples – French singer/songwriter Serge Gainsbourg and British model and actress Jane Birkin – it’s no surprise that Charlotte Gainsbourg has a multitude of talents.

Here are some extracts from her interview:

On her close friendship with Louis Vuitton creative director, Nicolas Ghesquière: “We’ve been friends for a long time. I really followed him during his time at Balenciaga and the gap [between Balenciaga and Louis Vuitton] was painful.”

On her highly exclusive capsule range for Current/Elliot: “The proposition was perfect, as I have a real love for denim.”

Jess Weixler In Diane von Furstenberg - 'Listen Up Philip' Sundance NEXT FEST Screening

Jess Weixler attended the screening of ‘Listen Up Philip’ during Sundance NEXT FEST at The Theatre at Ace Hotel on Saturday (August 9) in Los Angeles, California.

The actress wore a Diane von Furstenberg Fall 2014 geometric monochrome dress with a fit-and-flare silhouette, a high-impact piece which she chose to style with mini stud earrings, a red DVF clutch and black DVF sandals.

Styling her hair into a rolled-up chic updo, Jess completed her look with a glossy pink lip colour.

BDOTW 18 Aug

Gina Rodriguez was your best dressed this week wearing a navy-blue LaQuan Smith dress. No doubt you were enamoured not only with the dress, but also the styling of this look.

My vote went to Nina Dobrev in Vionnet, with Elle Fanning, Odeya Rush and Taylor Swift – who coincidentally all wore red this week – all running closely for joint second place.

Nina was my eventual winner, because I love the sweet sassiness of her look; the mix of colour and those Kurt Geiger pink pumps pretty much sealed the win.

When it came to the guys, Robert Pattinson in his classic Gucci suit was your favourite, whereas I opted for the charming all-grey Gucci suit worn by Channing Tatum.

Julia Roberts In Valentino - 2014 Creative Arts Emmy Awards

Julia Roberts was also in attendance at the 2014 Creative Arts Emmy Awards, held on Saturday (August 16) at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California, where she was spotted inside with her husband Daniel Moder.

The actress has been on amazing form ever since her promo tour for ‘August: Osage County’, so I am glad to see that continue for this event.

Looking amazing wearing a meticulously designed Valentino Resort 2015 jumpsuit featuring one long sleeve, an asymmetrical neckline and a scarf detail which drapes down the back, she styled her contemporary piece with a black and gold Jimmy Choo ‘Charlize’ clutch.

Glossy waves and glossy pink lips completed her look, which was my favourite of the night.

Judy Greer In Reed Krakoff - 2014 Creative Arts Emmy Awards

Judy Greer was also in attendance at the 2014 Creative Arts Emmy Awards, held on Saturday (August 16) at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California.

Returning to her more understated style, she wore a Reed Krakoff black cocktail dress with a geometric embroidered bodice.

In keeping with the more refined, minimalist approach, she paired the frock with lightly embellished, black ankle-strap sandals, a small metallic Kotur clutch and nude makeup.

A red lip or a polished updo would have taken this look to another level.

Kate Mara In Christian Dior - 2014 Creative Arts Emmy Awards

Kate Mara couldn’t be missed as she made a bright showing at the 2014 Creative Arts Emmy Awards, held on Saturday (August 16) at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California.

Her embroidered yellow wool and pale-pink quilted crepe dress from the Christian Dior Fall 2014 collection was certainly a bold colour choice, made all the more intense with the sun’s rays on the red carpet.

The cold-shoulder frock lost some of its runway sensibility, as a pucker here and a crumple there marred some its streamlined appeal—not that I can call this particular Dior dress one of my collection highlights.

Dior metallic and nude sandals, alongside an embellished hair clip at the back of her sleek bob, completed Kate’s entrance.
