Most Unpredictable Style – Zendaya Coleman

Most Unpredictable Style - Zendaya Coleman

I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again—I always love to see what Zendaya Coleman delivers on the red carpet, as she does not know the meaning of “boring.”

The up-and-comer has more than arrived on the style scene, carving out an impressive course of designer outings that have zero sense of consistency save for their beautifully unexpected quality.

While some stars serve up a steady course of classic dressing, she puts the guesswork back into the red carpet and has yet to meet a look she won’t try at least once.

The subtly directional pieces she wears aren’t for the faint of fashion heart. But, with her statuesque, modelesque frame and cool-girl attitude, she rocks them at a level few could hope to attain.

Case in point? That Rosie Assoulin cotton seersucker cropped top and exaggeratedly flared pants at the recent Diamond Ball in Santa Monica, California. Or, how about her hip-hop, neon scene at the iHeart Radio Music Awards.

Of course, when in doubt, a pair of furry pompom sandals is always a good idea in the delightfully unpredictable world of Zendaya.

Most Consistent 2015 – Naomie Harris

Most Consistent 2015 – Naomie Harris

Throw any look the way of Naomie Harris, and the actress beautifully flaunts it with nothing short of the ultimate polish and panache.

It was difficult enough to settle on a favourite look from her ‘Spectre’ promo tour, which effectively demonstrated her impressive consistency. There was nary a dull moment or a dud among them.

James Bond has nothing on this style star—and she rises above the rest of her impressively turned-out peers by never being afraid to explore bold, bright colour palettes, punchy patterns, and interesting silhouettes. Yet she never compromises her spirit of classically refined chicness.

She has a veritable laundry list of designers who are behind her consistently well-dressed endeavors: think Altuzarra, Balmain, Christian Dior, Dion Lee, Kaufmanfranco, Lanvin, Michael Kors, Mugler, Ralph Lauren, Roksanda, and Valentino. The sheer variety of these labels only further demonstrating her sartorial power.

The orange Stella McCartney strapless, corset gown at the London premiere of ‘Spectre’ was nothing short of a revelation, as I’m sure many of you will agree.

Entertainer of the Year 2015 – Taylor Swift

Entertainer of the Year 2015 Taylor Swift

We are clearly all remembering Taylor Swift standing in a nice dress—or two, no less—this year. The songstress is the consummate talent, and her trophy case only keeps on expanding come every award show. Little wonder, then, that she is our Entertainer of the Year again, following last year’s win.

And she’s only continued to raise her style game, too, as her star power continues to shine ever brighter.

Thankfully, 2015 saw her continue to move farther and farther away from sugary sweetness and into far more interesting and enthralling territory. Her model besties certainly didn’t hurt either in establishing T-Swift as a trendsetting, talented force to be reckoned with.

Those with any doubt only need see a few of her wardrobe selections beginning with the Elie Saab jaw-dropping teal-blue, high-low gown that balanced youthful playfulness with a fashion ‘it’ girl vibe. A black-lace-encrusted, grass-green Julien MacDonald gown brought in an element of vampy, good-girl-gone-edgy.

Her cutout white Balmain jumpsuit at the Billboard Music Awards may have been one of her most significant highlights for me. Seductive minimalism at its very finest.

Model of the Year 2015 – Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Model of the Year 2015 – Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has strutted to the beat of a very stylish drum this past year, thus seizing the Model of the Year reigns from last year’s queen Karolina Kurkova.

Long drawing attention for her street-chic style, Rosie has continued to fascinate us—every day is a fashion show for this beauty, and the world is most certainly her catwalk.

Par for the course are the models of the moment who dress all too provocatively, or even worse yet, in a nearly unthinkable uninspiring mode.

But Rosie toes the line between sexy and sophisticated quite well, not falling into the trap of overly exposed and tasteless—plus her looks always seem to simmer with a rock-goddess edge that’s sometimes tinged with romantic femininity and other times with old-Hollywood elegance.

Nothing like seeing fashion come to life through Rosie-coloured glasses.

Most Underrated 2015 – Dakota Johnson

Most Underrated 2015 – Dakota Johnson2

Dakota Johnson skyrocketed onto the scene thanks to her role in the hotly anticipated, boundaries-pushing ‘50 Shades of Grey’ film.

Early on, the starlet’s style captured my attention. While some perhaps found her monochromatic palette during the ‘Grey’ promo tour rather uninspiring, I couldn’t have been more intrigued by the striking, minimalistic appeal that always bloomed with a touch of the romantic.

The chic streak continued after her movie duties, and she duly coloured outside the lines, pushing her once-black-and-white ensembles into even more vibrant territory.

She’s worn a veritable alphabet of designers—Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Chanel, Christian Dior, all the way to Gucci, Michael Kors, Saint Laurent, and more—and she’s donned everything from elegant long gowns, glitzy disco-ball frocks, and a notable goldenrod, bow-accented dress that only she could wear with such panache.

While some may have only seen a gray area with Dakota’s style, she was the dark horse of the red carpet, quietly captivating in an eclectic mashup of looks that proved she’s no one-trick pony.
