Natalie Portman Goes Blonde

Natalie Portman has hit the bottle and gone blonde for an upcoming film role and there was only one woman she trusted with the job: Hollywood’s go-to colourist Tracey Cunningham.

Tracey’s client list reads like an Oscar nominations announcement with names like Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lopez, Emma Stone (she turned her from blonde to red and back again), Kate Beckinsale and Drew Barrymore, to name just a few.

Tracey spoke to us about how she achieved Natalie’s drastic hair transformation which she debuted on the red carpet this week at a dinner for her choreographer husband Benjamin Millepied’s L.A. Dance Project in Los Angeles.

‘Natalie makes a beautiful Blonde!’ Tracey said. ‘She needed to make the change for an upcoming movie role, and using Redken’s Blonde Dimensions we achieved a gorgeous, multi-dimensional Golden Blonde.’

A big change like this requires a lot of commitment, however, and Tracey recommends sitting on it for a while before making the leap. If you do go for it, here’s her advice.

‘I always recommend colouring every six to eight weeks, but for a single-process colour, you should really do four to six weeks. Two months is just too long,’ she says.

‘You should treat your hair like you would a fine garment—you wouldn’t throw a cashmere sweater into the wash! I love sulfate-free shampoos for gentle cleansing and I recommend Redken’s Color Extend Shampoo & Conditioner to all my clients. It does an amazing job to keep your hair healthy and vibrant’

‘I’m also really into Redken’s Real Control Slim Supreme right now, which I use pre- and post-blow-out for nourishment. It’s just a really good blow-dry serum. It does everything—it gives shine and life to the hair.’

Tracey also says to invest in some styling tools: ‘Buy some hot rollers—big, big hot rollers are awesome. Everybody looks good with a blow-out.’

Natalie Portman In Christian Dior – Van Cleef & Arpels Dinner for LA Dance Project

While we were focusing on Milan Fashion Week and the Emmys, Natalie Portman debuted a platinum blonde hairdo on the red carpet on Saturday evening while attending Van Cleef & Arpels Dinner for LA Dance Project in LA.

She becomes the latest celeb to fall in love with Raf Simons’ Christian Dior Fall 2012 collection, which was the second Dior Couture dress to hit the red carpet this weekend.

Her floor-length white bustier flower-embroidered gown was styled with Van Cleef & Arpels jewels and a red velvet clutch.

The dress was also styled with hot pink shoes, but only Vogue.com have that picture.

I much prefer the dress on the runway, Natalie doesn’t quite have the height to make it work. The skirt looks a tad deflated on Natalie, which is one of the reasons why it appears longer in length.

Natalie Portman In Christian Dior – New York City Ballet’s 2012 Spring Gala

Natalie Portman was joined on the red carpet by her partner Benjamin Millepied as they attended New York City Ballet’s 2012 Spring Gala at David H. Koch Theater, Lincoln Center in New York City yesterday evening.

The actress looked beautiful wearing a Christian Dior navy silk chiffon gown with a tiered skirt and a black ribbon detail around the neckline and waistline.

She accessorized with Dior Fine Jewelry earrings and a black Dior clutch.

A wavy updo and a shimmering pink lip colour completed her Spring Gala look.

Who Wore Lanvin Better? Natalie Portman or Ni Ni

Natalie Portman attended the 2012 Golden Globe Awards back in January wearing a custom-made Lanvin gown.

Her gorgeous fuchsia-pink-and-red strapless gown with a dramatic gathered detail on the hip was styled with a raspberry clutch and diamond jewels.

Ni Ni surprised me by wearing the same gown in black and taupe to the Lanvin fashion show in Beijing, China, last week.

Despite the overly dramatic nature of the gown at such an event, she looks undeniably beautiful accessorizing with a gold cuff and black sandals, completing her look with a low bun and pink lippie.

The gown makes more of an impact in pink, so Natalie wins for me.

Natalie Portman In Vintage Christian Dior – 2012 Oscars

Last year’s ‘Best Actress’ winner, Natalie Portman returned to the red carpet at the 2012 Oscars in Hollywood this evening.

Natalie has stayed relatively low-key since her 2011 Oscar win to focusing on her new family.

You would never know that Nat just had her first child months ago, as she looked stunning this 1954 Christian Dior Haute Couture vintage gown.

As the face of Miss Dior Cherie perfume, it’s no shock that Natalie donned Dior for Hollywood’s biggest night.

Wearing this red strapless gown with subtle polka dot detail, I completely see the Audrey Hepburn comparison that has followed Natalie for her entire career.

Statement diamond jewels and bouncy hair complete the retro-inspired look.
