Samantha Cameron and Michelle Obama were both impeccably dressed as they stood alongside their powerful husbands for the official photo last night at the White House state dinner in Washington, DC.

The Prime Minister’s wife wore a dress by London-based Italian designer Alessandra Rich.

Sam’s gorgeous blue lace ¾-length-sleeve belted dress from the Spring 2012 collection was paired with black heels from Next.

The First Lady opted for a gown by British-born, American-based designer Georgina Chapman, by donning Marchesa.

Michelle’s off-the-shoulder silk gazar draped column teal gown was teamed with a stunning Tom Binns statement necklace.

This portrait neckline with a statement necklace is a familiar look for Mrs O, as she sported a similar look back in May last year for the Royal dinner.

I think they both look outstanding. I love the modern electric-blue gown on Sam and Mrs O looks so effortless, classic and regal.

On this occasion I couldn’t pick a favourite.

Can you?

David and Samantha Cameron are currently in the US on a three-day visit, so of course they caught up with the Obamas.

It’s always a magic moment for me when Samantha Cameron and Michelle Obama meet as they dress to impress without trying to upstage each other.

Earlier today at the official welcoming ceremony at the White House in Washington, DC, both ladies wore looks from their respective countries.

Samantha wore a Roksanda Ilincic tri-colour half-sleeve dress with an Emilia Wickstead navy belt and LK Bennett blue suede pumps.

Michelle complemented the PM’s wife by wearing a Zac Posen light-blue dress with a matching jacket for the occasion.

I love her silver pumps, they remind me of a pair I have been eyeing up in Zara.

Both women look amazing, but without bias, I’m going to give this fashion face-off to Sam Cam.

Her look feels fresher and less ‘ladies-who-lunch’ in comparison to Mrs O.

Whose look do you prefer?

It might be bitterly cold outside, but Michelle Obama reminds us that spring is just around the corner.

The First Lady made a guest appearance on ‘The Tonight Show With Jay Leno’ this week.

This mixture of textures and pastels in her relaxed look of new and familiar pieces is absolutely beautiful.

She wore a Michael Kors gold-ribbed lame elbow-sleeve crewneck from the Resort 2012 collection with a J. Crew mint-green jacquard pencil skirt.

Michelle has worn this skirt before, but she gave it new life by adding a striped bejewelled belt.

Baby-pink kitten heels completed her look.

Michelle Obama presented an award to legendary poet and and author Maya Angelou at the 2012 BET Honors which was held in Washington, D.C. on Saturday evening.

The First Lady looked regal wearing a J. Mendel Resort 2012 gown.

I adore the colour of this scarlet organza one-shoulder gown against her skin; she’s truly radiant.

Her chic updo keeps her hair away from that beautiful detail on her shoulder which cascades down the front of her gown.

As always she gets a perfect 10 from me.

Michelle Obama was your best dressed this week wearing a custom electric blue Vera Wang gown.

Her look was typically breath-taking and awe-inspiring with earrings to-die-for.

My vote went to Sarah Jessica Parker in Theyskens’ Theory.

This could’ve gone wrong in so many different ways, but the petite actress was able to pull off this tricky gown without any problems.

Like FLOTUS, she was flawless from head-to-toe.

The belle of the ball at the 34th Annual Kennedy Center Honors last night was Michelle Obama.

She looked divine wearing a gorgeous strapless Vera Wang custom gown.

FLOTUS once again upstaged the President in this cobalt tulle gown with accentuating bias drape and a tiered skirt with feathered organza accents.

The bold blue hue and statement jewels ensured that all eyes were on her.

She always make my heart melt.
