Michelle Obama has worn
Thakoon, H&M, Maria Pinto, Jason Wu and even
J.Crew, but the big question is, who will she wear to the Inaugural Ball?
WWD have sketches from designers who would like to dress for this momentous occasion.
Above are the dresses I would love to see her wear, especially the Monique Lhuillier red gown.
Divine.

My least favourites are Betsey Johnson, Marc Jacobs and Zac Posen. I must say I am very surprised at the last two.
Check out the 35 designs for yourself, and let me know your favourite.

President-Elect Barack Obama and the future First Lady Michelle Obama were special guests of a one hour
Barbara Walters Special on ABC.
In the interview the Obama’s talked about family aspect of the Obama’s, as opposed to any hardcore political issues. A cute part of the interview was when Barack Obama stopped the interview to notify Michelle that she had lipstick on her teeth.
Those like me who are on Michelle O watch, will be in awe of how great she looked wearing white dress with black embroidered rosettes from the Jason Wu Spring 2009 collection.
Her style gets better and better. Take a look back at the amazing fashionsita that is Michelle Obama in this wonderful gallery.

We are still divided by
Narciso Rodriguez dress – (FYI I loved it), but there can be no doubt that Michelle Obama looked gorgeous making an effective fashion statement for her first visit to the White House yesterday. And I think it was quote befitting that she wore the designer who dressed her for most of the campaign, the Chicago designer Maria Pinto.
The red sheath dress was one Maria thought Michelle might wear for the election showdown itself last week. But looks like the First Lady Elect saved it for her meeting with Laura Bush to show her around the White House.
The big question now is who will be dressing Michelle for the Inaugural Ball in January?
I am sure the big money is on Oscar de la Renta, but I am sure she will surprise and wow us all.

Normally I don’t post hunches, but there is no denying the similarities in this
Narciso Rodriguez Spring 2009 dress, and what I believe is the modified version.
Michelle Obama wore a black cropped cardigan over her black and red ombre dress which had a criss cross black satin detail cross her waist – which is very much a Narciso Rodriguez trademark – when it was confirmed that her husband was indeed the President of the United States of America, at a gathering in Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois.
In fact I am going to stand by my hunch and say this is a Narcsio Rodriguez dress. I will be happy to come back say I am wrong, if proved so later today.
Update: Wooohoo. My hunch was right.

During Day four of the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Michelle wore a printed
Thakoon Resort 2009 dress with three
Erickson Beamon brooches.
The world seemed shocked that she would choose such an up and coming designer, and not a more politician’s wife friendly designer like Oscar de la Renta, but we all applauded her choice.
During the press conference for Blindness in Japan for the 21st Tokyo International Film Festival, Julianne Moore wore the same dress, but she wore her dress with cream suede platform shoes.
I much prefer this dress on Michelle, so she wins this for me.

This was not the only
Thakoon dress Michelle Obama has worn.

The second dress was the
Thakoon Floral inside-out dress from the Fall 2008 collection, which she wore to a presidential debate at the University of Mississippi in Oxford last month.
The ballet neck floral-print tailored dress, is made of silk and has inside-out insets throughout.
You can buy this gorgeous dress from Saks.com, Shopbop.com and eLuxury.com for $1,250.

With the political campaign thousand of miles away, Barack Obama was influencing fashion designers at
Paris Fashion Week.
Rodarte’s Mulleavy sisters, contributed to Sonia Ryikel’s 40th Anniversary tribute show with an twin set emblazoned with ‘Obama’.
Jean-Charles De Castelbajac produced a yellow tunic dress for his Spring 2009 collection which had Obama’s face on it, made up of sequins.

Some of the coolest designers in fashion including
Zac Posen,
Marc Jacobs,
Rag & Bone and
Derek Lam produce merchandise for Obama’s official online store.
You can see all the Obama official merchandise on Runway to Change.

It looks like both Sarah Jessica Parker and Andre Leon Talley have been online shopping.

Michelle Obama continues to go wow us with her magnificent fashion sense.
Last week on day four of the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Michelle wore a printed Thakoon Resort 2009 dress with three Erickson Beamon brooches.
Michelle’s dress has been modified from the LookBook version, as her has a higher neckline, and a more fitted skirt.
Can’t wait to see what she wears next.
