Red Carpet Fashion Awards

British actress Emily Mortimer was a guest at one of the many Topshop/Topman launch dinner parties, held around the time of the New York store opening back in March.

She wore a black Topshop gold and lace detailed dress, with tights, black heels and a lipstick pink boyfriend blazer.

Lily Collins wore the same dress to “The Serpentine Gallery’s Summer Party” last month in London, with Topshop black and gold sandals and a black clutch.

The blazer was a welcome pop of colour to her all black ensemble, so Emily wins for me.

This dress is available to purchase from Topshop for £65/$135.

Thandie Newton gets another gold star this time for wearing this multi-coloured Matthew Williamson Resort 2010 dress.

Her look is almost a head-to-toe carbon copy of the runway look, but Thandie opted for a skinny gold studded belt instead of the wider runway belt, and she has a smaller bejeweled clutch.

Nude cut-away ankle boots complete this stunning look.

Best Dressed of the Week is going to be very crowded with Thandie and Emma’s looks.

Roisin Murphy finally does one of the silk voluminous shoulder pieces from the Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2009 collection justice.

I’m quite surprised her look is so close to the runway version, as she usually mixes things up a bit.

Her many accessories included bejeweled belt, gold necklace and large copper sequined bag which she carried as a clutch.

My only disappointment are those black patent heels.  Too stale for this kind of look.

Little Boots arrived wearing the same D&G silk brocade jacket with leggings, which Emma Watson wore in her editorial for Elle UK.

Little Boots is quiet daring with her style choices, so I’m surprised she didn’t copy the runway look.

After her disappointing looks at Haute Couture Fashion Week, Dasha Zhukova gets back to her stunning best wearing a cream Azzedine Alaia dress with a frou-frou skirt and a matching waist belt.

Her dress is gorgeous which she complements with a black and white print cropped jacket and Azzedine Alaia shell decorated heels.

After giving birth to her first child a few months ago Tess Daly has already snapped back to her perfect best.

The TV presenter showed off her stunning pins in this gold See by Chloé mini dress with a tiered bodice, which was folded in the skirt to add subtle volume.

Tess accessorized with some very sexy Jimmy Choo Billie Lizard-print sandals and mirrored clutch.

Meg Matthews continues to channel a very demure look. The wild rock chick seems to be a thing of the past.

Meg is wearing the black version of the same Antonio Berardi tweed crew neck dress she wore to the “Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince” UK Premiere.

Poppy Delevigne looks super sexy wearing a long sleeved black embellished mini dress with a pair of Topshop frill sandals.

Lily Collins has walked many red carpets, but I’m still yet to see her do anything noteworthy.

Phil Collins’ daughter is supposed to be an actress but I couldn’t name a single film or TV show she has been in.

Lily wore a lace Topshop lace bodycon dress with some Topshop black and gold sandals which very much look like Louis Vuitton Spicy sandals.

Gold jewelery and a black patent clutch completed the look.

Erin O’Connor wore a plunging jade-green Donna Karan Grecian style dress.

The shapeless dress should drown Erin’s slender frame, but the drapes and her elegant stature prevent that.

Natalie Imbruglia red gown is gorgeous but the Chanel black and white bag is so heavy it feels like a slap in the face.

A black clutch would have been much more subtle.

Olivia Palmero wore a champagne coloured dress with a dazzlingly Zara clutch, Topshop leather disc jacket, and Topshop velcro strapped heels.

Either these girls love Topshop as much as I do, or the retailer sponsored this event.

Phil Collins’ daughter, Lily Collins wore a Hervé Léger by Max Azria Spring 2009 black striped coral dress, before taking to her front row seat at the Hervé Léger Fall 2009 show during New York Fashion Week.

She kept her look simple with scraped-back hair, thick tights, and minimal jewelery.

Kristen Stewart also wore this dress, with bare legs, when she arrived to promote her new movie Adventureland.

It was great to see Kristen’s hair under control, but I feel Lily pulls off this look with more grace, as Kristen posture was so awkward, so Lily wins for me.

You can buy this dress from Saks.com for $1,900.

Dita von Teese – as we expect – looked spectacular wearing a long draped flesh silk chiffon Christian Lacroix Fall 2008 Couture gown with a pink ombre train, a matching clutch and a copper bow.

The gown has been modified for the better from the runway version.

Lucy Liu is one of my Top 10 Best Dressed actresses on the red carpet. She looks outstanding wearing this white Giambattista Valli Fall 2008 sheath dress, with a woollen cape.

She completed her look with beige Jimmy Choo platform heels, and a taupe clutch.

If this dress looks a little familiar to you, that’s because Victoria Beckham wore something similar by the same designer last year.

I’m so loving seeing Elie Saab on the red carpet so often lately, and I hope we get to see more tomorrow.

Marcia Cross arrived at this event looking sensational wearing a lilac Elie Saab Spring 2009 Couture gown, which sparkled with many embellishments. The gown had cap sleeves and a gorgeous floral detail on the empire waist.

She completed her look with a complementary silver Daniel Swarovski clutch.

Christina Ricci LBD from the Monique Lhuillier Fall 2009 collection had a asymmetrical ruffled detailing, which did not over power her, nor the dress.

Her look was complete with tan Christian Louboutin pumps, and black satin clutch.

Her blunt bangs and red lips just perfect this look for me.

I’m so surprised Emily Blunt picked this dress, because I don’t think it flatters her at all.

My main problem is the pleated bodice and the jeweled detail on the waist.

Eva Longoria always wears bright vivid colours, so this chocolate brown Reem Acra dress is a surprise.

I hope to see a return to bright colours soon.

Like I said last time, Sienna Miller has lost her appeal. Nothing feels fresh or new with her anymore.

Starting with that hairstyle. Haven’t we seen that look a million times before?

I really dislike the colour, and the material of her Ungaro gown also.

Carice Van Houten wore a black and white graphic print Jay Godfrey halter-neck maxi dress.

I’m not quite sure what has happened to Reese Witherspoon.

After her split with Ryan Philippe she wowed us time after time on the red carpet. Lately I always feel so underwhelmed by her choices.

This Dior LBD is cute enough, but she just lacked pizazz.

Lily Collins teal column gown, had a embellished detail on the empire waist, but it failed to impress me.

At the Hervé Léger by Max Azria Fall 2009, I witness models falling on the runway. As funny as it may appear, it really is an uncomfortable experience. The whole of the Promenade took a sharp intake of breathe, as the models fell, then got up and continued to walk the runway.

You would think that bandage dresses don’t have anywhere else to go, but Max Azria had many ideas.

Most of the bandage dresses were updated with square shoulders, which gave them an 80s feel, and made me think of the Balmain Spring 2009 collection.

The rosette details of the previous Fall collection, were replace with leather and metallic panel detailing.

The plunging dress was the style most used, but there were also halters, criss cross halters, square neck and one-shouldered dresses.

My favourites were the black eyelash fringed dress, purely because of the way it shimmered down the runway, and the silver embellished dress with the square shoulders.

It was way too far away from the celebs to see them up close, as the place was packed, but Lucy Liu was very much in the spotlight. The camera crews went crazy for the A list star, which is not surprising as she looked hot in a black Herve Leger bandage dress.

Sophia Bush, The Queen of Fall 2008 Fashion Week was absent from the Spring 2009 shows, so I was happy to see her in what was her second show of the week.

She looked gorgeous wearing a striped grey Herve Leger dress.

Michelle Trachtenberg carried a big large red clutch, with her grey tie-dyed Herve Leger dress.

January Jones opted for a nice brightly coloured Hervé Léger by Max Azria Spring 2009 mini dress, with a black leather jacket.

Jessica Stroup opted for a lime green Herve Leger dress, with a keyhole detail.

Lily Collins wore a coral and black striped Hervé Léger by Max Azria Spring 2009 dress.

Of course Joy Bryant was there wearing a black Herve Leger dress.
