2014 MTV EMAs Red Carpet Roundup

2014 MTV EMAs Red Carpet Roundup

The MTV EMAs 2014 took place at The Hydro on Sunday (November 9) in Glasgow, Scotland. I was expecting to be at least entertained by the red carpet arrivals; sadly it was a total bust. Perhaps they could can the event for good if this is the best they could muster for the red carpet.

Ariana Grande: Finally letting her hair down – literally, not metaphorically – the singer showed a more grown-up side to her red carpet dressing. Her black Cristiano Burani gown with cut-outs is basically a copy of a Michael Kors Spring 2013 gown which was much loved by Alicia Keys and Myleene Klass.

Alesha Dixon: Even with its decorative detailing, this Mary Katrantzou ‘Oriane’ shirt dress doesn’t feel glam enough for an awards ceremony. Taking the event out of the equation, I simply adore this bold look styled with fierce Sophia Webster ‘Mila’ cage sandals and a violet lip to die for.

Jena Malone In Reem Acra – International Medical Corps’ Annual Awards Dinner Ceremony

Jena Malone In Reem Acra - International Medical Corps' Annual Awards Dinner Ceremony

Before Jena Malone hits the road for ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1′ world tour, the actress attended the L.A. launch for Jeff Vespa’s new book, ‘The Art of Discovery’, held at Brooks Brothers Rodeo Drive on Thursday (October 23) in Beverly Hills, California before joining Sienna Miller on the carpet for the International Medical Corps’ Annual Awards Dinner Ceremony.

Showcasing her own ab work, the redhead donned a Reem Acra strapless black cut-out dress structured with a girlish flair and enhanced with silver and white sequin detailing.

This ultra-flared piece styled with complementary dual-colour toecap Giuseppe Zanotti pumps and a metallic clutch was enhanced with a flame-red lip further adding some sass appeal, along with feminine eye makeup rounding out her look.

Jena Malone In Valentino - 'St Vincent' New York Premiere

For a third night in a row Jena Malone was on the red carpet, this time for the New York premiere of ‘St. Vincent’ held at the Ziegfeld Theater on Monday (October 6) in New York City.

The actress wore a sweet Valentino Resort 2015 short-sleeved leather frock accented with red and white lace.

If you were expecting a pair of safe Louboutins you don’t know Jena very well; she instead donned a pair of Tamara Mellon red mid-calf boots, spicing up the look further with an Edie Parker ‘Lara’ clutch.

Do you like Jena’s styling or should she have toned it down?

Jena Malone In Thom Browne – ‘Time Out Of Mind’ New York Film Festival Premiere

Jena Malone In Thom Browne - 'Time Out Of Mind' New York Film Festival Premiere

Jena Malone and her newly dyed tresses were back on the red carpet for the ‘Time Out Of Mind’ premiere during the 52nd New York Film Festival held at Alice Tully Hall on Sunday (October 5) in New York City.

The actress wore a Thom Browne dress which bears all the hallmarks of the designer’s impeccable tailoring.

Lacking the complexity many of the designer’s runway pieces favour, this commercial frock, with its variety of stripes focused on creating a tiny waist, features bold shoulders and a body-skimming silhouette which still leaves me in awe.

Styled with a Lee Savage ‘Space’ clutch, I’m not feeling the Mary-Janes for such an exquisite piece.

Jena Malone In Valentino – ‘Inherent Vice’ New York Film Festival Premiere

Jena Malone In Valentino - 'Inherent Vice' New York Film Festival Premiere

Jena Malone attended the Centerpiece gala presentation and world premiere of ‘Inherent Vice’ held during the 52nd New York Film Festival at Alice Tully Hall on Saturday (October 4) in New York City.

The badass actress is quite the chameleon. This time she’s a feisty redhead, wearing a dainty mesh dress with colourful monkey embroidery from Valentino’s Resort 2015 collection.

I’m sure many of you would’ve preferred a nude lining; however, Jena was never going to play it that safe, instead wearing a bralet and hot pants beneath her sheer dress, which she totally pulls off with a great attitude.

Styled with pony croc blue pumps and a Valentino studded clutch, her new red hair was styled into two Dutch braids, with shimmering eye makeup bringing out her grey eyes.

Marchesa Spring 2015 Front Row

Marchesa Spring 2015 Front Row

Celebrities gathered to celebrate red carpet queens Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, who returned home to London to showcase their Marchesa Spring 2015 collection on the 10th anniversary of the brand.

Jena Malone: The ‘Hunger Games’ actress was perched in the front row wearing a distinctive Marchesa frock in a rich teal hue, deconstructed to create a gorgeous kilt dress rendered with 3D mohair thistle embroidery. I love her complementary eye makeup, which further emboldened the look along with her gold sparkling Louboutins.

Rita Ora: The singer ditched the red lip in favour of a deep-berry hue for her part-glamorous, part-I’m-not-sure-what’s-up-with-that-hairstyle look. She wore a Marchesa Spring 2011 blush-pink draped chiffon one-shoulder jumpsuit with black tassels on the train. The hair is too harsh for the look, but you have to – on some level – admire her for keeping things varied and interesting. She was asked by a reporter to name her favourite Marchesa red carpet look; having worn Marchesa four times previously to the Elle Style Awards, the BBC Radio One Teen Awards, the 2013 Glamour Woman of the Year Awards, and the 2012 EMAs, she said that the red embroidery and taffeta gown from the EMAs was her favourite look. When asked by the journalist where she had worn the look, Rita appeared to go blank and say “Ummm…”, at which point I interjected by saying “the MTV Awards”, to which she looked up at me with some confusion, then turned to the journalist and replied “Yeah, the EMAs”.
