‘The Bling Ring’ New York Screening

The Bling Ring New York Screening 1

Louis Vuitton hosted the New York screening of ‘The Bling Ring’ in New York City on Tuesday evening at the Paris Theatre.

After praising the stars’ style yesterday, I was disappointed that a few were below par for their New York outing.

Emma Watson: I was crestfallen when I saw this look. While the v-neck low-back frock featuring a slate silk bodice and hem might be flirty or understandable to some, I found the look very sombre and not in keeping with the Emma I know and love. Not even the Ferragamo gold clutch and Christian Louboutin ‘Pivichic’ pvc black-striped pumps could lift this look for me. She completed the look with a Monique Péan ring that showed off her pretty lilac manicure, a dark-crimson lip colour and a side-parted ponytail.

Katie Chang: While I love the deep-emerald hue of her 3.1 Phillip Lim dress, it looks like someone just threw fabric over her and she accented it with a leather waistband. I’m only loving the Jimmy Choo ‘Freya’ booties here.

Sofia Coppola: The director did wearing Louis Vuitton selecting an ivory frock with a sequined front panel and delicate tiered skirt which she styled with matching sandals. Only Sofia can make what would appear to some as am embellished t-shirt dress, look so chic. Not one to usually make too much of a fuss when it comes to makeup, she applied a watermelon-coloured lip shade on this occasion.

Taissa Farmiga: The young actress maintains her 100% record, wearing a pretty Marchesa asymmetrical black lace frock which is very much in keeping with her girlie-girl red carpet style. A black Marchesa clutch with a quartz clasp and Ferragamo peep-toes completed her look.

Claire Julien in Emilio Pucci - The Bling Ring New York Screening

Claire Julien: The blonde beauty continues her love affair with Pucci, wearing a nude chiffon embroidered halterneck dress with a long white tulle overdress accented with intricate button detailing from their Spring 2013 collection. It’s a more daring look in comparison to her co-stars; however, I wish the nude lining had been hemmed to be the same length as the white overlay. Claire styled her look with the same Emilio Pucci cross-strap wedges presented with her dress on the runway, along with opulent drop earrings, an Edie Parker clutch and a braided updo.

Emma Watson In Antonio Berardi – ‘The Bling Ring’ LA Press Conference

Emma Watson in Antonio Berardi - The Bling Ring LA Press Conference

Emma Watson was still glowing from Tuesday night’s premiere for ‘The Bling Ring’ while attending the press conference for the movie the following day, which was held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.

I gotta tell ya, the white pump trend is rapidly growing on me.

Six months ago I would’ve been wishing for a different shoe selection. Today, I love contrast against her multi-coloured, multi-textured Antonio Berardi Fall 2013 dress.

Despite this being Emma’s second out-of-season dress, I love this more than her Chanel look.

It’s so modern, yet prim and proper at the same time.

Belts are a strange thing. They can instantly change the feel of a look, which the belt has done on this occasion, making it even more desirable to me.

A pretty pink lip colour and soft, wavy tresses provided the finishing touches.

Which look do you prefer? The Chanel or the Berardi?

Hair Style How-To: The Faux Bob

Hair Style How-To The Faux Bob

Between the magic of hair extensions and pro hairstyle tricks like the faux bob, it often seems like celebrities have some magic up their sleeves for making their hair grow faster. Well, if like many celebs, you would also like to sport shorter hair for a night, we’ve got details straight from the pros on one of those celebrity hair tricks: The Faux Bob.

Both Emma Watson and fellow actress Haley Bennett wore their hair in faux bobs to the Los Angeles premiere of ‘The Bling Ring,’ and we got Haley’s stylist, Mara Roszak, to break down exactly how she created the shortened ‘do on Haley’s long red locks.

First, Mara applied Leonor Greyl Mousse au Lotus Volumatrice to Haley’s wet hair, and then she ‘rough dryed’ it, which simply means getting the bulk of the moisture out of wet hair by flipping the head over and shaking the hair with your hand. No tools, no precision, just getting hair dry.

Next, Mara curled small sections of the hair with a one-inch barrel curling iron and wrapped them into pin curls, and let them sit for 10 minutes.

Then she removed the curls and brushed them out with a Mason Pearson All Boar Brush (a favorite among hairstylists!) and back-combed at the roots to create some volume.

Then came the pinning: Working in small sections, Mara started at the ends of Haley’s hair and rolled it under and up until she reached the scalp, and then pinned. Once it was all pinned in place, shorter pieces around the face were pulled loose to create a more natural look.

For longer hair like Haley’s, this method of creating a curled ‘bob’ helps create a more textured, realistic look. But for shorter hair, you can create a sleek ‘bob,’ like Emma’s, by simply eliminating the curling process.

Emma Watson for W Magazine June/July 2013

Emma Watson W Mag June July 2013

Emma Watson looks very grown up and gorgeous on the cover of W magazine’s June/July 2013 issue wearing a Louis Vuitton grey jacket with floral appliqués which was shot by Michael Thompson and style by the brilliant Edward Enninful.

The 23-year-old actress, who has seemingly made her transition from child actress to a adult star, was also captured wearing Chanel, Erdem and yet more LV inside the mag.

Emma talks to W about her childhood, her character in ‘The Bling Ring’, her Hollywood crush and her first movie memory.

On her childhood: “I’ve always been a very serious child. I remember being 13 and girls in my class saying ‘So-and-so is going to kiss so-and-so on the school fields.’ I said, ‘That’s stupid. They’re too young for it to matter—he doesn’t even love her, and that’s just a waste of time.’ It’s amazing that I had any friends!…I’ve never wanted to grow up too fast: I wanted to wear a sportsbra until I was 22! The allure of being sexy never really held any excitement for me. I’ve never been in a terrible rush to be seen as a woman.”

On the first movie she remember’s seeing: Pretty Woman. I was 7, which was way, way too young. That was when I started loving Julia Roberts and American movies. As a child, I loved being onstage. I loved singing, I loved the lights, I loved the adrenaline. I even loved learning lines. I was completely obsessive. A friend of my mother’s found a tape of me auditioning for Hermione. I wanted to get really, really good at my lines. There was reel after reel, take after take, of me doing the same thing over and over again.

On her character in Bling Ring: “Nicki is so different from me. How do I try and understand a young woman who loves these things so much that she is prepared to commit crimes to have them?…With Nicki, I was really taking on a character. Some of her lines are so crazy and absurd—making sure she wasn’t a parody was a challenge.”

Her Hollywood crush: My cinematic crush has been pretty much the same since I was 12: Kevin Costner. I met him in an elevator the other day, and I couldn’t even speak. He said hello, because he is lovely like that, and I couldn’t say anything back.

Emma Watson In Chanel - ‘The Bling Ring’ LA Premiere

Emma Watson was back on the red carpet again last night, this time attending the premiere of her other latest movie ‘The Bling Ring’.

The British actress wore a Chanel Fall 2013 tweed dress with a high collar and tiered skirt, which she styled with Giuseppe Zanotti heels, a black Swarovski-crystal Kiosque clutch and Graziela white wave ear cuffs.

Emma’s styling is much preferred over the runway. I love how the look is sophisticated, yet still has a youthful flair.

It looks like her printed mini dress phase is behind her. While I loved it, I’m glad to see different sides to her red carpet look.

A braided updo and matte red lip colour completed her look.

Emma Watson In Roland Mouret – ‘This is the End’ LA Premiere

Emma Watson In Roland Mouret Fall 2013 – ‘This is the End’ LA Premiere

Emma Watson hit the red carpet at the premiere of her latest film, ‘This is the End’ at the Regency Village Theatre in Los Angeles on Monday evening.

The young star wore a Roland Mouret bustier with asymmetrical folds from the Fall 2013 collection paired with 3.1 Philip Lim cigarette pants and Ferragamo pumps.

Emma loves to push fashion boundaries, and once again, it’s working for her. This bustier is eye-catching and bold, but still chic and appropriate.

The look is complemented with a dusty rose lip and a little red carpet magic–a faux bob. We know Emma looks great with shorter locks, but with this simple roll trick, she can enjoy ear-skimming hair for the evening, without committing to a haircut.
