The Balmain Fall 2009 was one of the collections I was eagerly awaiting. Unfortunately it didn’t live up to expectations.

I hate criticizing designers, because I could never do their job, but there was nothing ground-breaking from this collection, and we have come to expect this from Balmain.

I felt more than a touch of de ja vu with a lot of the pieces, with the rise and fall hems, the padded shoulders, embellished mini dresses and sweet-heart necklines replace by pointy necklines. All very Spring 2009.

The pieces will look great on the red carpet, don’t get me wrong, but the only highlights from this collection for me were the electric blue pieces, Anja Rubik, Carmen Kass and Erin Wasson *girl crushes*.

There are 2 collections I have been waiting for all season. Balmain and Balenciaga.

I’ve been stalking Style.it all morning waiting for the pictures of the Balenciaga Fall 2009 collection to upload, and I wasn’t disappointed.

Nicolas Ghesquiere presented a luscious feminine collection of draped satin tulip skirts, paired with satin blouses, or silver shimmering long-sleeved tops with accentuated shoulders.

Pants also had a draped rippling effect along the hips, these were tapered and paired with tailored blazers which were belted with more satin.

Black lace bandeau’s, featured heavily, and were paired under black blazers, navy velvet blazers, and ivory and white blouses.

Prints were a surprise for me, but they worked well a blouses, but more so as dress, with puffy shoulders, asymmetrical skirts, ruched skirts and halters.

Of course Jennifer Connelly will be all over this collection, but I would hope to see more celebrities wear this collection.

Salma Hayek and her husband Francois-Henri Pinault were in the front row, along with Anna Wintour.

My pictures from the Pamella Roland Fall 2009 show, which I attended yesterday are really bad, so I’m waiting for the professional pictures to come through.

Before the show, the pre-show began when Paris Hilton came from backstage to walk to her seat. The paparazzi and guests of the show swarmed her and her sister. I kinda felt sorry for the other celebs, because none of them received this high level of attention.

Paris was in her element, lapping up the attention and posing wearing a cute Pamella Roland Spring 2009 grey sleeveless dress, with a white collar and tie detail.

You will be happy to know she removed her sunglasses before the show started.

Sister Nicky was similarly unfazzed by all the attention. She wore a red jacket, which had a structured collar, with black pants.

Kellie Pickler caused the second greatest stir in the front row. She has become the darling of fashion week, and for this show she wore a cute red belted dress with a full skirt.

The skirt was detailed with floral embellishments.

Amanda Bynes was much taller than I would have thought, and she looked fabulous wearing a black haltered keyhole dress.

I have been reading your comments about Amanda’s hair, and I think it’s hilarious that you share my pain about her hair.

Back in July 2007, I did a post called The Never Changing Hairstyle Of Amanda Bynes. Cut to 2009, and her hairstyle is still the same.

Jessica Stroup arrived without a coat – brave girl – showing off how fabulous she looked, wearing a navy silk chiffon Pamella Roland Spring 2009 dress, with a ruffled plunging neckline, which she wore with silver peep-toes.

*brrr*

Kristen Bell slipped in wearing a red sheath Pamella Roland Spring 2009 dress, which she wore under her leather jacket.

Katrina Bowden wore the cutest, sun-shiniest mini dress she could find from the Pamella Roland Spring 2009 collection, and it fits her style perfectly.

The strapless dress was embellished with silver crystals, which complimented her heels.

Michelle Trachtenberg quite clearly was not in the mood to play dress up.

I was not in the front row, but the gorgeous Nigel Barker was. Even though I have seen so many celebrities this week, I have not asked for pictures or autographs, as I’m sure it gets really tedious for them.

But when I saw Nigel, I just had to grab a second of his time. He is even more gorgeous in real life and very charming. *Swoon*

He took his mother to the show. You love him more now don’t you? *sighs*

Miu Miu’s Spring 2009 collection signaled the end of Fashion Week, and it was all about double pleated skirts, roman tile prints and graffiti.

I must admit this collection took a little while to grow on me, and now I love it.

Miuccia Prada presented thick pleated skirts on top of one another. She also presented belts with a portion of a skirt attached, like a half a kilt, worn over another skirt.

Will this be an accessory, or an item of clothing? We will have to wait and see.

With all the prints and graffiti, the plain black dresses looked a little lackluster.

The collection for me was a success, and I can see many more than the two actresses in the front row wearing this collection over the coming months.

Kiki aka Kirsten Dunst arrived wearing a black dress from the Prada Spring 2009 collection.

Seeing the dress on the actress, it answered my question, which was can this collection work off the runway? The answer is yes.

The gorgeous Kate Bosworth was wearing a satin champagne belted Miu Miu Spring 2009 dress, over a caramel v-neck sweater.

She completed her look with burgundy heels.

Lanvin’s Spring 2009 collection
was one of the last of Paris Fashion Week, and the one I was looking forward to the most.

I was not disappointed. In fact was was surprised Alber Elbaz introduced prints and floral embellishment on a few of the pieces, something I do not recall him using before.

Some maybe tiring of Alber’s silhouettes and shapes, but for me these are very much a Lanvin signature, and I do not think a collection would be complete without them.

There were many one-shoulder tops, and dresses in this collection, as there were many draped pieces.

The colour palette had lots of black, but there were also loud colours, like pink, green, orange, and yellow and more neutral colours like nude, pink and grey.

I have not doubt we will see many of these dresses on the red carpet. My favourite is the blue animal print one-shouldered dress.

Louis Vuitton’s Spring 2009 tribal collection was full of bright colours, including orange, green, purple, maroon and earth tones.

I was very surprised by this collection, as the colours and styling very much reminded me of Marc Jacobs’s Spring 2009 collection he presented 3 weeks ago.

Marc presented boxy jackets, ultra mini skirts, sweaters, jersey dresses, wide-legged pants, polka-dotted pajama pants, and tunic dresses.

Feathers were a surprisingly theme, with feathered dresses and skirts.

What I really loved about the collection were the shoes.

Jak & Jil spotted magazine editors wearing these Louis Vuitton shoes after the show en-route to the Lanvin show. Jealous? Me? Hell yes.

A very chic looking Kerry Washington was one of the few stars in the front row.

The actress was wearing a pastel blue and white sleeved Louis Vuitton Fall 2008 jacket over a cream Fall 2008 dress. She completed her two-tone look with two-tone heels.

Dita von Teese was of course in head to toe black.

The star wore an embellished Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2008 top with a black skirt and long leather gloves.

Elie Saab’s Spring 2009 collection did not have a much bling as I always expect, but as usual it was a flawless collection.

The colour palette consisted of lime green, lilac, violet and buttercup yellow, plus he also incorporated some prints.

As ever the collection was dominated by red-carpet gowns (the reason why I love him so much). The dresses were either ultra short, or very long, with billowing trains.

I loved the blue cocktail dresses with frilly hems, which also come in a similar lime green version.

I would love to see Cameron Diaz wear the pink strapless gown with the thigh-high split.

Dita von Teese was in the front row wearing head to toe black. Her fur cuff coat is from the Elie Saab Fall 2008 collection.

Milla Jovovich opted for a silver mini dress with layers and sequin detail.

She wore her dress with flats, an embroidered jacket and tights.
