Narciso Rodriguez Spring 2009 collection was dominated by criss-crossing shapes and cut out pieces on the bodice of most of his dresses, which added a touch of playful bondage to body-con dress.

The majority of the collection was in black and white, but there were also green, red, pink, and nude pieces in the collection.

Cigarette pants, T-shirt dresses, asymmetric dresses and red carpet gowns were the highlights of this presentation,

Although it was a great collection, I felt a touch of deja vu, especially with the criss-cross pieces.

Casual mum by day, A-list fashionista at night, Jessica Alba looked every inch a sleek Hollywood star, as she took to her front row seat at Narciso Rodriguez’s show last night wearing a peach and black trimmed dress from his Resort 2009 collection, with tights and Prada peep-toes.

The actress favours Rodriguez’ designs for her red carpet appearances. She recently wore a pink satin gown custom-made dress for the ALMA Awards.

I can not recall Claire Danes wearing Narciso Rodriguez before, but she did wear an orange cocktail dress from his Fall 2008 collection as she sat alongside Jessica Alba last night. Maybe this is a sign of them working together in the future.

Rodarte’s Spring 2009 collection was typically edgy and oh so feminine, with a space age feel to it.

The colour palette consisted of delicate nudes, bold blacks, vibrant blues and a mixture of floaty pastels

Leather fishnet-like leggings, revealing tops, leather skirts, holey sweaters, and knit skirts.

The finest moment of the collection was when the floor-length gowns were presented. These gowns would look perfect on any red carpet. Natalie Portman, Tilda Swinton and Dita von Teese would all look marvellous in these gowns.

Hopefully these gowns will not be confined to the pages of magazines.

Natalie Portman has worn Rodarte many times before and most recently at the Venice Film Festival, so it was no surprise to see her in the front row yesterday.

It is funny to see her jaw-drop as she marvels at the glorious multi-coloured gown, because that is exactly the look I had when I saw it.

As you would expect Marc Jacobs produced an amazing Spring 2009 collection.

The lady-like clothes had Edwardian silhouettes among other eras. The collection included 1940’s shoulder pads, farm-girl plaids, but the ultimate look was gypsy. But he made the look more upscale with metallic pieces, and wide geisha belts which had large safe pins.

The skirts were very interesting with draping, folds and layering.

There was only one look for the executive woman and that was a beautifully tailored navy suit with wide shoulders.

The accessories were amazing with colourful bags and shoes.

Victoria Beckham not only showed off her self-designed dress, from her new Victoria Beckham Spring 2009 collection, but also a dramatic new hair-cut.

I love all that is fabulous about Victoria Beckham, but I do not like this cut. A new do was way overdue, as we had all tired of the pob, but this was not the way forward.

What I also do not understand is why Victoria applies mounds of fake tan, and then wear ghostly make-up.

Jennifer Lopez brought that uber sultry glam that only she, and Eva Mendes can.

The actress wore a winter white stretch wool RM by Roland Mouret Pre-Fall 2008 ‘Pigalle’ dress with black patent YSL Trib Two Platform Pump.

Nicole Richie embodies Hippy chic, wearing a black and white ensemble of a James Perse tank tucked into in a sleek, leather-wrap tulip skirt by Marc Jacobs and black Pierre Hardy peep-toe booties with a silver sequined head band.

Helena Christensen brought the supermodel glamour, wearing a Marc Jacobs Resort 2009 short suit, to show off her long lean legs.

Sofia Coppola opted for a blue metallic dress with black peeps.

Kelly Osborne opted for a asymmetrical multi-coloured gown, which was slightly odd given the occasion, and style we are used to seeing on Kelly.

Rachel Zoe drowns in this fuchsia Marc Jacobs Resort 2009 gown.

Winona Ryder pink shoes stand out from her all black attire.

Ruffles and more ruffles were on display in the glorious presentation of Carolina Herrera’s Spring 2009 collection.

Gowns & tea dresses got the ruffle treatment, and they were were cut slim creating a gorgeous silhouette.

I will fall in love with whoever wears that gorgeous marigold yellow ruffled dress with the ribbon tied the hem ♥, ♥, ♥ it.

Apart from the gowns there were plenty of other pieces on display. Slim cropped pants, fitted jackets, cropped collarless jackets, sleeveless day dresses with floral prints underneath, ruffled blouses, pencil skirts, palazzo pants, and lots of bare shoulders from the strapless dresses..

The palette was a mixture of pinks, yellow, and teal blue, but red was the stand out colour of the collection.

If are wondering why Renee Zellweger was at Carolina Herrera’s show, you need to read my blog more often because Renee almost exclusively wears Carolina’s clothes.

Renee is probably one of the very few actress that can actually shop the runway.

I imagine her with her with her note book writing,

“Red strapless – Emmy’s 2008
Yellow asymmetric ruffled gown – Oscars 2009
Black leather looking dress – Case 29 premiere – note to self tell Carolina to shorten it”

I am loving her in this tweed dress with full pouffy skirt.

Venus Williams towers over everyone wearing a her purple sheath dress.

Diane von Furstenberg Spring 2009 collection was amazing, as you would expect.

We had the hot sexy pieces from Rock & Republic and Herve Leger, and we had masculine chic from Rag & Bone, so it was refreshing to see some really girlie clothes.

This collection had floaty chiffons, peasant blouses, flowing maxi dresses, harem pants, lacey shifts, embellished caftans, and even a pair of jeans.

DVF has something for every woman, including two wrap dresses for the DVF faithful.

The colour palette was full of purples, oranges, blues, and teals.

Hippy days are here again.

Jennifer Lopez is looking very much like JLo here with the large sunglasses and the large entourage.

The singer/actress wore a sweater dress with YSL booties and large Erickson Beamon earrings.

Eva Longoria may have been at Diane von Furstenberg show, but she was wearing a cute printed tiered dress from Topshop.

Rosario Dawson was very bright in a yellow maxi.

Leighton Meester also opted for a yellow dress, but with a black tie.

Is it me or is there something not quite right with Leighton?

Zoe Saldana is way too cute in her strapless ruffled mini.

Hervé Léger by Max Azria’s Spring 2009 collection was full of the expected – bandage dresses, and the unexpected – swimsuits.

Just when I thought there was nothing left for the bandage dress to give, Max Azria revived the well worn dress with leather, straps and sequins.

The collection was not just about the bandage dress. Also on display were blazers, leather jackets, vest, skirts, a playsuit with cut-outs and red carpet gowns.

The finale was an unexpected parade of swimsuits with many cutouts, that would leave very interesting tan lines.

Kate Mara opted for a lime green Herve Leger dress, which she wore with stunning gold buckle belt, snakeskin heels and a Prada clutch.

With Maria Sharapova out of the US Open competition it gave her some free time to attend this event yesterday.

The tennis star wore an eggplant Herve Leger dress with a black accents.

Joy Bryant is the first person I have ever seen wearing Herve Leger shorts, and of course she totally rock them. I also love her off-the-one-shoulder top.

Isn’t unfair that event after event, Joy arrives with no/minimal make-up and still look fantastic?

I would have loved to have seen Michelle Trachenberg wearing a bold bright colour, but instead she opts for a black Herve Leger Crisscross Tank Mini Dress.

Zoe Saldana also opted for black, but brighten things up with a fuchsia clutch.

This was Donna Karan’s 20th anniversary collection, and she did not disappoint her guests, as she displayed a very youthful collection befitting of the DKNY brand.

The colour palette had bright blues, neon yellow, passion pinks and some darker navy blue and black colours.

It was blue that dominated the runway, appearing on dress, tank top, sashes on dress, and details on other pieces.

Models strutted down the runway in heeled sneakers wearing strapless dress and tops, jumpsuits, mini dress, wide-leg pants and jeans, vests and blazers.

With many separates on display, the mix and match possibilities are endless.

Even in that denim jumpsuit, Coco is still fierce ♥.

It looks like Nicole Richie was given the heads up on the striped and blue theme of the show by arriving wearing a blue and navy striped DKNY tank, with a navy and cobalt blue banded skirt.

She completed her look with black suede cut out booties.

Christina Ricci as always looks stunning. The actress wore a sexy spotted dress, with nude heels.

Winona Ryder opted for a head to toe black ensemble, with ruby red lips.

I am not quite sure why Petra Nemcova thought the fedora was a good idea, because her cherry red dress was enough to ensure that she stood out.
