Burberry Prorsum Spring 2015 Front Row

Burberry Womenswear SS15 - Arrivals

A crush of beauties, and a handsome boy, were out in force for the Burberry Prorsum Spring 2015 fashion presentation on Monday (September 15) during London Fashion Week in London, England. This front row set was, of course, outfitted in all measures of the powerhouse British label for the big show.

Cara Delevingne: The model was front and centre—on the FROW instead of the runway—where she strutted out a sexy two-piece navy suit with multicoloured Burberry Prorsum sneakers and a contrasting plum Burberry Prorsum ‘Bee’ monogrammed bag, both fresh from the Spring 2015 collection. The unexpected mix of the skin-baring, bra-less plunge, worn with strands of necklaces, and the sporty appeal of the trainers delivers on Cara’s rebel edge. I can’t say that a part of me didn’t want to see the suit with a pair of heels, though. The matching red lip and red pocket square were amazing.

Kate Moss: Arm in arm with Cara, Kate belted on a sleek black trench over cropped black skinny pants, punctuating the look with teal-green heels, the Burberry Prorsum ‘Bloomsbury’ bag and cat-eye shades. This dynamic duo appear together in the current My Burberry fragrance campaign—talk about a perfect model match.

Marchesa Spring 2015 Front Row

Marchesa Spring 2015 Front Row

Celebrities gathered to celebrate red carpet queens Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, who returned home to London to showcase their Marchesa Spring 2015 collection on the 10th anniversary of the brand.

Jena Malone: The ‘Hunger Games’ actress was perched in the front row wearing a distinctive Marchesa frock in a rich teal hue, deconstructed to create a gorgeous kilt dress rendered with 3D mohair thistle embroidery. I love her complementary eye makeup, which further emboldened the look along with her gold sparkling Louboutins.

Rita Ora: The singer ditched the red lip in favour of a deep-berry hue for her part-glamorous, part-I’m-not-sure-what’s-up-with-that-hairstyle look. She wore a Marchesa Spring 2011 blush-pink draped chiffon one-shoulder jumpsuit with black tassels on the train. The hair is too harsh for the look, but you have to – on some level – admire her for keeping things varied and interesting. She was asked by a reporter to name her favourite Marchesa red carpet look; having worn Marchesa four times previously to the Elle Style Awards, the BBC Radio One Teen Awards, the 2013 Glamour Woman of the Year Awards, and the 2012 EMAs, she said that the red embroidery and taffeta gown from the EMAs was her favourite look. When asked by the journalist where she had worn the look, Rita appeared to go blank and say “Ummm…”, at which point I interjected by saying “the MTV Awards”, to which she looked up at me with some confusion, then turned to the journalist and replied “Yeah, the EMAs”.

London Fashion Week Beauty Trend: Easy, Effortless Hair

London Fashion Week Beauty Trend Easy, Effortless Hair

Amid the intricate updos and ornate styles, there was a beauty trend we all could appreciate: uncomplicated, ‘day-two’ tresses. There’s nothing more annoying than spending over an hour fussing over your hair in the morning, but judging by these simple hair looks, the fall season might just be kind to your hair (and your time).

At Christopher Kane, models sported shiny, textured locks. Guido Palau comments that Kane wanted “the girls to look how they look”, which meant as natural as possible. Using Redken Shine Flash, he applied through the hair for glossiness and a somewhat undone, bedhead look. Then, he made a sharp center part and tucked some pieces behind the ears.

Burberry sported a similar look, but hair master Neil Moodie focused more on the natural wave of the hair, using Bumble and Bumble Tonic and a curling iron, which resulted in a styled, but not-too-styled appearance.

Center parts also made an appearance at Topshop Unique, where hairstylist Anthony Turner created sleek, straight strands. He applied L’Oreal Mythic Oil to the ends to truly make them shine. The best part? He gave each model’s mane a quick ruffle before they walked out as if they “had been up to something naughty”.

Ashley Madekwe Front Row @ London Fashion Week

Ashley Madekwe Front Row @ London Fashion Week

Ashley Madekwe has been my fashion darling of London Fashion Week, hot on the strappy heels of Solange Knowles who took the crown for New York.

We’ve seen Ashley looking super slick and sexy at her first-ever Burberry Prorsum show; here is a look at the rest of her looks.

Topshop Unique: Quite the master of the high-low mix, the British actress kick-started her LFW adventure at the Topshop Unique show, where she wore a simple black top with an attention-grabbing forest-green Topshop sequin skirt styled with a Chanel shoulder bag and Charlotte Olympia sandals with a gold platform.

Matthew Williamson: Wearing a fuchsia shirt dress with a tweed wrap plaid skirt from the British designers Pre-Fall 2014 collection, she styled the look with her Burberry Brit leather jacket, that is working its way up my wish list, and her Chanel bag once again.

Whistles: Perhaps my favourite look from her this week (my mind keeps on changing) was her blush-pink strapless Whistles jumpsuit with a fitted bodice and loose-fit tapered pants. This elegant look was styled with Shamballa Jewels earrings and dusky-pink accessories. I love the dark-and-light-pink combo here. She has a keen eye for what works well together.

Which was your favourite look from Ashley?

It’s a Burberry-Whistles tie for me.

Burberry Prorsum Fall 2014 Womenswear Show

Burberry Prorsum Fall 2014 Womenswear Show

The Burberry Prorsum Fall 2014 fashion show took place during London Fashion Week this afternoon (February 17).

As we’ve come to expect, the hottest ticket in town attracted a lot of celebrity faces, some of whom also attended the menswear show last month. Bradley Cooper didn’t take to the red carpet, but you can see him seated next to Anna Wintour below.

Paloma Faith: After working a summery BDOTY-worthy look for the menswear show, Paloma was in a more Fall-like mood. Wearing pieces from the Pre-Fall 2013 collection including a London landscape printed tee and green jacquard pencil skirt, she wore the same maroon hat she wore for her last red carpet appearance, but it worked much better on this occasion when styled with a matching coat.

Naomie Harris: While the coat-and-open-toe-sandals fashion police may not favour this look, I have to say I’m loving the chic combo of the velvet devore coat with the chartreuse velvet sandal. Did I say love? Yes, LOVE.
