Sofia Coppola in Marc Jacobs – 2013 Met Gala

‘PUNK: Chaos to Couture,’ the theme to Monday’s Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York is all about paying homage to a time when people went against the establishment.

Sofia Coppola did just that when she graced the red carpet in a pajama-inspired design from Marc Jacobs Fall 2013. A decidedly non-punk look, Sofia took the anti-establishment theme to heart by opting out of the theme completely.

I do love Sofia’s look–the cut is simple, the style is flattering, and the silvery-grey colour is beautiful–but I wish she had gone just a little bit punk.

Sofia rounded out her laid back look with delicate heels, a black clutch, and barely there makeup.

I personally would have paired this red carpet look with a very dark berry lip colour for a flash of punky glamour. Do you agree?

I am laughing too hard at Marc’s crazy look to even notice Sofia’s for a few minutes. When I do, I’m not impressed. Pajamas are not punk. Or passable.

you could have had your pajama party after the event…like put on something punk and then go home and get in your expensive pajamas. i don’t get this at all. I am also very shocked Marc didnt embrace the theme.

PJs for the Met Gala? No. I bet she felt the most comfortable in her outfit, but I don’t like it at all.

I am tired of Marc Jacobs’s pjs. It is time to move on we are not on 2011 anymore.

First off the novelty of this left us years ago, second off its just not cute, itll forever remind me of walmart people who have no self respect and decided its ok to wear PJs out in public, I dont care what high fashion tells me, it just doesnt look right. Theres better ways of using silk patterned fabric

Is this MET Gala?! Or just a walk in the park?

Sorry, but…NO! I already hate the PJ’s-stylish-wannabe, please don’t bring it to the MET Gala…

They both look ridiculous. She looks completely underdressed and he looks try hard. I showed my son a picture of Mr Jacobs sporting his man-dress. He left the room!!

I don’t like this look at all. If she didn’t want to go punk, she could at least wear a pretty gown.
