Solange Knowles attended the 4th annual ESSENCE Black Women In Music event held at the Greystone Manor Supperclub in West Hollywood, California yesterday evening.
Sporting her trademark ‘fro and bold lip colour, the singer/DJ wore an Ostwald Helgason Resort 2013 top and a-line skirt.
This collection, created by London-based designer duo Susanne Ostwald and Ingvar Helgason, which focuses on bold, multi-coloured diagonal stripes, was a huge hit with street-style stars such as Miroslava Duma and Anya Ziourova, so I’m not surprised to see Solange wear this brand.
Continuing to take the not-so-over-the-top approach to styling her ensemble, Solange styled her look with shoes by another London-based designer, Nicholas Kirkwood.
Despite this relatively modest kitten heel, I do like her black, silver and white toe-cap pumps.

All the tribal/afro and prints in general Solange has been constantly opting for lately are starting to give me a feeling of groundhog day.
Not my favorite of her looks, just because I am not a fan of these wide stripes. But as usual she is owning and selling what she is wearing beautifully.
I like the shoes.
It’s cool and funky and she rocks it well.
I think the yellow Kirkwood sandals that Anya wore are my favourite shoe pairing with this print style.

I don’t really like cap toe shoes, in general, but I have to say that they really compliment this look. I just love Solange’s style!

Don´t care for the dress but Solange is selling it to me, glad she didn´t go overboard with prints and colours.
took a second look… the dress is really not working for me the way it is on Solange (even though she seems to be having fun with it), the drop-waist design on the model (as opposed to Solange´s belted shirt) is much more preferrable imo.
I think this is the first look I’ve liked on her in a while. So classic and simple, yet elegant — love the colors! Good choice to eliminate the look book necklace as well.
I think that the lookbook necklace is actually a printed shirt.
I much prefer Solange’s version over the lookbook version, as I find Solange’s silhouette more appealing. However I find the lip color distracting, I would’ve preferred a fluoro pink lip.
I enlarged the image and you could be right about the shirt vs necklace. Either way, I don’t care for it.

as usuall, Solange works the hell out of that outfit.
I know im in the minority, but for me those are “high” kitten heels
for me kitten heels are 1-inch, those are my work shoes. 3 inches is high and 5 inches (like louboutins etc) are completely un-walk-able.
