Rihanna’s 4th Annual Diamond Ball

Rihanna's 4th Annual Diamond Ball

There were plenty more stars who attended Rihanna’s 4th Annual Diamond Ball benefitting The Clara Lionel Foundation on Thursday (September 13) in New York City.

Teyana Taylor: The singer will always provide a talking point, whether she’s half naked or serving up plenty of drama. It was the latter on this occasion, as she clearly meant business in this formal pinstriped tuxedo dress from Moschino’s Fall 2018 collection. You weren’t fans of how Damaris Lewis presented this look, but does adding the shirt and tie sell the look the second time around.

Donald Glover: Having been part of the Gucci gang for so long, the actor opted for Dior Men Spring 2019 on this occasion. I love the teal-blue shade and the relaxed fit which made him look every inch a modern gent.

Issa Rae: All that glitters was gold for Issa Rae in Valentino Resort 2019. With that much bling you would’ve thought she would skip on the jewelry, but she added a stunning pair of Mateo earrings and gold Stuart Wetizman sandals.

‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ New York Screening

Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke and Alden Ehrenreich attended the screening of ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ on Monday (May 21) in New York City.

Donald Glover: Looking as smooth as ever, the actor played it cool in a Gucci Pre-Fall 2018 clean-lined suit that has a distinct ’70s vibe to it. I love this rich caramel hue and the pairing of the appropriately titled ‘Dapper Dan’ GG sweater, that successfully showcased the brands heritage along with the loafers.

Emilia Clarke: Why blend in when you can stand bold while wearing Alessandra Rich’s Fall 2018 colourful dress? And if the print wasn’t striking enough, an eye-catching diamante and fringed detail finished off the look. This promo tour is really bringing out the best in Emilia.

Alden Ehrenreich: The actor kept things simple and clean wearing a Strong Suit by Ilaria Urbinati look in a bold French blue hue.

Donald Glover In Salvatore Ferragamo & Gucci – Solo: A Star Wars Story Promo Tour

Donald Glover made multiple colourful retro statements during the ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ promo tour.

LA Premiere: There aren’t many who could carry off an open shirt, multiple chains, white shoes and a colourful suit, but Childish Gambino did in Salvatore Ferragamo Fall 2018. He made a retro statement at the premiere on Thursday (May 10), joining Emilia Clarke. It has swagger and feels authentic to who he is.

Cannes Film Festival Photocall: He stuck with red trousers at the Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday (May 15). Those who found the other look too retro will hopefully find favor with this debonair Gucci offering as it has a softer vintage mood. It’s crisp, well put together but not try hardy.

Cannes Film Festival Premiere: Softening things up, he attended the premiere in custom Gucci on Tuesday (May 15) alongside Thandie Newton. Like all the other looks it had a throwback vibe, except there was a distinct prom theme with the powder blue suit, white shoes and daisy boutonniere. Some might be put off, but he looks cool and not contrived in the designer’s playful offering. Dare I say that he carried off the pastel style better than Jared Leto.

2018 Met Gala Menswear Roundup

The men always have a bit more of a challenge when it comes to thematic dress, but here’s how they did at the 2018 Met Gala on Monday (May 7) in New York City.

Virgil Abloh: Right out of the gate, I loved seeing Louis Vuitton’s Artistic Director of Men’s Collections wearing this preview of the upcoming Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2019 men’s collection. Bonus points that the creamy-white design played to the theme—with an urban twist in the sneakers.

Andrew Garfield: The actor introduced the thematic, crimson-red hue via this lush velveteen Tom Ford tuxedo.

Jared Leto: If there would be anyone to fully dress to theme, it would be Jared. In head-to-toe Gucci, he flaunted this custom design that offered up his interpretation of a saintly crown paired with priestly embroidered panels. The flamboyant suit itself we could have likely seen him in any day of the week.

2018 Oscars & Oscar Parties Menswear Roundup

Many of the men brought their A game to the 2018 Oscars and Oscars parties, including the Vanity Fair Oscar Party and Elton John’s AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party on Sunday (March 4) in California.

Chadwick Boseman: The ‘Black Panther’ star continued his reign of sartorial power in this Givenchy Haute Couture suit that was inspired by a full look in the Spring 2018 collection. However, I love how he made the long, embellished jacket his own—sleekly styling it with black shirting and trousers and the zipper-accented shoes.

Donald Glover: This Gucci tux such a handsome-luxe approach with the velvet jacket taking it to the next level in partnership with the relaxed-suave appeal of the slipper shoes. A David Yurman ring completed the look.

Tom Holland: Sometimes double-breasted jackets can come across as a bit contrived, but I love how Tom wore this Hermès suit so sharply. It was a standout on the Oscars red carpet with his Piaget watch adding that final touch.

Esquire’s Annual Maverick’s Of Hollywood

Esquire’s Annual Maverick’s Of Hollywood was held on Tuesday (February 20) in LA, celebrating 23 women and men who are taking creative risks and making bold, innovative work in Hollywood.

Angela Sarafyan: Earlier in the day, Angela had us seeing red—and she continued working the striking colour here. However, the distinct lingerie mood and sheer elements of this Milly look will no doubt land as successfully as her prior entrance did. Had the skirt been lightly lined, I think we’d all be on board.

Donald Glover: I love a good statement jacket, and that was never more true than in this Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2018 heart motif letterman’s jacket that didn’t skimp on playfulness. I do wish he had paired it with something less formally traditional than pleated trousers.

Lydia Hearst: This Fausto Puglisi Fall 2017 look is a tough one to take off the runway, given its experimental edge. As the coat was already halfway off her shoulders, the overall ensemble may have presented as slightly less haphazard had she just removed it. Read More…
