Sister Act: Elle and Dakota Fanning Toast Michelle Pfeiffer’s Iconic Career

The TCL Chinese Theatre turned into a masterclass in understated elegance on Friday as Michelle Pfeiffer was honoured with a Hand and Footprint Ceremony—and who better to cheer her on than her “TV daughters” Elle and Dakota Fanning?

Dakota Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer and Elle Fanning are seen as TCM honors actress Michelle Pfeiffer with Hand and Footprint Ceremony

It was a reunion packed with heart and history. Not only do all three actresses share the magical touch of stylist Samantha McMillen, but they’ve also shared screen time and emotional arcs over the years. Dakota and Michelle first tugged our heartstrings in I Am Sam back in 2001, and reconnected in The First Lady in 2022. Elle and Michelle brewed onscreen drama in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil in 2019, and will grace our screens again soon in Margo’s Got Money Troubles. Supportive, stylish, and synced up? We love to see it.

Cream Dreams

At this point, if the Fanning sisters don’t know something about neutral-hued dresses, it’s probably not worth knowing. Case in point: Dakota Fanning was in her absolute element, wearing dreamy cream silk halter-neck pleated dress by Dolce & Gabbana, perfectly paired with gold strappy sandals.

The Row Knows Best

No one is surprised to see Michelle Pfeiffer keeping thing equally simple, and equally on brand with this black suit with an ivory silk shirt from The Row.

Elle in Noir?

Like her sister, Elle Fanning may be the joint-queen of ethereal pastels, but this time she switched things up—with a twist we didn’t see coming. She stepped out in a sleek black Toteme double-knit maxi dress, a colour we rarely see her in, and wow, did it pay off. The off-the-shoulder detail brought a touch of old-Hollywood elegance, while brown mules and a classic Cartier timepiece sealed the look with quiet luxury flair.

A celebration of legacy, sisterhood, and style.
