Michaela Coel Wore Schiaparelli Haute Couture To The 2023 Met Gala

Michaela Coel joined her fellow co-chairs Roger Federer, Penelope Cruz and Dua Lipa on the red carpet for the 2023 Met Gala on Monday (May 1).

The ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ actress wore a custom, sheer Schiaparelli Haute Couture dress enriched with gold embellishments, mixed stones and dazzling crystals which was a meticulous work of art; particularly the ornate diamond-and-gold neckline.

Daniel Roseberry shared that the design was inspired by Karl Lagerfeld’s costume jewelry.

Despite this ‘second-skin’ creation taking more than 3,800 hours to create, I’m sure there are some of you who are looking at the placement of the embellishments with one question in mind. 

Why?

Well Schiaparelli has always been known for classic silhouettes with the addition of subversive details, so the placements shouldn’t really come as a surprise.

Michaela completed her look with Emefa Cole statement gold jewels and those Schiaparelli gilded in gold toe cap heels.
